A Patchwork of Inspiring Stories
This book is a collage of stories from different activists, young and old, all working toward social justice. It is has a lot of good essays and information. Meet these people. Listen to their stories. Read the essays, and get informed. You will love them all. Another book that will move and transform you. Bravo!

Inspiring
In their epilogue to "Global Uprising," Neva Welton and Linda Wolf point out that in the context of 9/11, "Now, more than ever, we must examine the the consequences or our denial, ignorance and complacency [in dealing with global affairs]. We must strive to better understand world history, religious beliefs, cultural diversity, and the impact of ideologies and policies that oppress and marginalize people. Terror is still terror, no matter what its origin: whether it stems from a sudden, deliberate act or is visited every day upon a people through poverty, starvation, enviromental destruction, economic enslavement, or poltice and military brutality."

"Global Uprising" is just the type of book we need to help us understand our role as global citizens--not global consumers, as Bush and the free market corporate head and stock holders world would have us to be. What we get in this book are the voices of people--mainly young--who have allowed their consciousness and love for justice and peace to become workers against environmental racism, the Prison Industrial Complex, global sweatshops, the World Trade Organization, corporate media, factory farms, Shell Oil Co. in the Ogoni region of Nigeria, and many other injustices that rarely get heard or written about in the dominate media.

These are passionate, ofter personal stories, of people throughout the world who are in solidarity with the children of Iraq who are dying because of U.S. military actions and sanctions, the Indigenous Peoples of Chiapas, who live under constant attack by the government of Mexico, and with U'Wa people of Colombia whose land has been affected by the US oil giant Occidental Petroleum. These and many more groups and issues finally get heard in this book.

Each of these stories would make powerful documentaries or movies, for they're about what happens to a people who must suffer under capitalist/imperialist world order that seeks undermine undeverdevloped or weaker regions of the world for economic control and profit.

And despite the sometimes hopelessness of the struggle, these stories are inspiring for those of us who realize that we can't simply limit our lives to buying the latest stuff we really don't need, living rich while most of world lives in starvation, or allowing this racist/imperialist government to bomb countries, primarily inhabited by people of color--and killing tens or thousands of innocent people.

"Global Uprising" is not a joy to read, but it does serve as a testimony that we can take action against tyranny and oppression and demand a better, more equitable world for all citizens.

A must for anyone who reads EEGs.
The best EEG book ever to come along. Since EEG is a visual art, combining actual, full size EEG pages with a text explaining the relevant findings is the only way one can learn it, and the authors have done an outstanding job of this.

This is one of the clearest, most concise works.
This book is now out; I have seen the edition. I consider it one of the most useful texts I have ever read. It is worth twice the price.

An excellent, comprehensive guide to all of New Yorks golf.
I keep one copy in my car and one at home. It has been extremely helpful in locating and reviewing golf courses for where ever I am in New York. A must have.

A gotta have for the NY golfer.
It's one stop shopping for golf courses in NY. Organized geographically, it provides easy access to a listing of local public and private golf courses.

Knowing that the authors are golfers who have personnally visited all of the courses, assures me of a golfers perspective.

This book and CD has opened up Mark's music for me
I've only spent about 6 hours with this book and CD, but I know I'm going to get TOP value for my money. I would actually call myself a "beginner" - I started playing accoustic less than 4 years ago, but have had no formal training at all - picking up bits and pieces as I go along - and time for practising is always too little. I decided to buy an electric guitar, and this is the first time I'm really utilising it - i.e. playing something that doesn't belong on the old accoustic. I'm a great fan of Mark Knopfler's music, and I cannot describe the feeling of playing the intro and first verse of Sultans of Swing together with the great man after about 4 hours of practising! I have only paged through the rest of the book, but from what I've seen and heard, this book and CD is spot-on. The CD itself, with "backtrack" on one channel and guitar on the other (which makes it easy to separate), as well as slowed down tracks, is brilliant! Yes, the songs are very complicated, and I know this book is going to keep me practicing for years to come, but it will be worth it!

How the master does it!
To see how he does it, look no further! I wanted this primarily for a Knopfler rarity among Tab books, PLANET OF NEW ORLEANS, and I got more than I bargained for! Not only is the transcription spot-on, but the accompanying CD highlights the author's amazing fretboard prowess! He has Knopfler's Pensa-Suhr/Soldano tone nailed! Getting back to the book. It covers a fairly broad range of Dire Straits tracks. All of the "greatest hits",plus a few from the last studio album, ON EVERY STREET. Due to the highly technical level of MK's playing, and the very accurate renditions transcribed in this book, I would have to say that it is most definitely not for beginners! In the text accompanying "PLANET....", Wolf Marshall(the author) describes MK's "gorgeous elastic phrasing", and that approach, believe me, is beyond the reach of most intermediate players, too. So I would have to recommend it as suitable for higher intermediate/advanced players only. I've been playing for 36 years, and some of this is still beyond me! However, it's a bargain at the price, and the before-mentioned CD alone is worth the money! The tracks are as follows.

Sultans of Swing. Once Upon a Time in the West.
Tunnel of Love. Expresso Love.
Telegraph Road. Private Investigations.
Love Over Gold. Money For Nothing.
Walk Of Life. Brothers In Arms.
You & your Friend. Heavy Fuel.
Planet of New Orleans.

A fast read that you won't be able to put down!
I just couldn't stop reading! Waiting to find out from chapter to chapter what was going to happen to the author next. The ordeal in the Andes was fascinating and the herbal remedies section has proven to be very helpful. I've read this book four times now and it seems every time I read it, I missed something the last time, or maybe that's the way it was intended to be read

I Am The Wolf by Anthony Michael
A true life story of the author's dream channeling journeys with Native American spirits who bring him visions of a Mother Earth past, present and future. The sequel, Guardians of the Spirit Energy is equally fascinating in that it not only speaks of earth changes yet to come, it also provides more than 50 pages of maps and details about each state in the USA. There is even a session in the sequel where the author "channels" Mother Earth herself. A fascinating story and the author says there is one more book left in the trilogy. I'm waiting impatiently.

A beautiful book!
Richard Adams unique collection of fables is intriguing and thought-provoking...to see ourselves and others in each is a rewarding challenge -- well worth the effort! Also, I must mention that the illustrations in this book are absolutely exquisite -- something the previous reviewer made no mention -- a rarity in this day and age of simple graphics and line drawings.

A real Adams
This Book is not a story, but a collection of some interesting and little-known fairy tales. Some of them are good, some of them not so, but in general, this is a very good book and worth reading. As you can see, it is out of print in English, but it is still available in German (Der Eiserne Wolf: phantastische Märchen).

The Call of the Wild
By Jack London The story I read is called The Call of the Wild. The story is about a dog named Buck who was stolen from his owner (Judge Miller) and sold to people in the north. He was used as a sled dog and he was beaten and abused by many people. He had to watch his friends be beaten to death because they would not follow orders. Indians kill his friends. Buck found other friends and lived in the wild. I liked the book and you should check it out.

Very Sad, but happy and suspensful
I loved the book and reccomend it to everyone. it was sad because Buck was stolen and not able to enter the 'call of the wild'. I enjoyed it because it was emotional and i enjoy those kind of books. Thank You Jack London(even though he's dead) for writting such a wonderful book.
