A Company of Fools
I really loved this book. It takes place in Paris, in an Abbey, where all the monks and choirboys live. There's the teacher's pet, Henri, who is a goody-two shoes. He's 12, like me, and one day he meets Micah, a criminal of the same age who has the voice of an angel. They become friends, and they do things that Henri would never have dreamed of doing if he weren't with Micah: spying on the monks, mixing a horrible tasting powder in the communion wine, etc. They become the Company of Fools, to make people laugh and have joy with the Plague all around them. It's really a very good book. Recommended ages: 12 and up

Coping With Loss: A Guide for Caregivers

Breaking new ground
An exceptional book. As someone who works in the health care field, I found Ms Locke's case studies, analysis, and commentary to be relevant and precise, yet imbued with an overaching humanism. Ms Locke notes in her introduction that she has been on both sides of health care model, both as a client, and as a nurse, teacher, and later consultant. This experience is evident in her sensitive approach to the subject matter, and has encouraged me to recommend the book not only to my colleagues in the field, but to those in my greater community who could benefit from her insights into loss, its manifestations, and the strategies for managing it effectively. A great resource for the professional and the layperson; to that end, anyone has had to cope with loss.

Great Easter book for children!
This was a great book, that kind of snuck in Jesus amongst the animals, for children who will argue with you about reading another book about Jesus. This book touched me, too.

If you teach Dance , you must have this !
This book written by Justin Howse, Consultant Orthepaedic Surgeon to the Royal Ballet Schools, The Royal Academy of Dancing and the Remedial Dance Clinic, London , and also by Shirley Hancock, Principal Physiotherapist to the Royal Ballet Schools, the Royal Academy of Dancing and the Remedial Dance Clinic ,London.

This book is a study reading requirement for the Royal Academy of Dancing Anatomy paper.

The foreward by Dame Ninette de Valois, says it all really. "This book gives us the opportunity to indulge in some serious reflection. It is full of highly technical observations on movement as related to the world of ballet and is accompanied by helpful instructions. A great deal of it should be rewarding to students, dancers, teachers, repetiteurs and ballet staff in general. I dare to add that in my opionion, it is also food for thought for choreographers. Today it is not customary for choreographers to give either scientific or practical thought to their choreographic demands. Let us recall that a composer has to remember to keep within the range of a singer's voice. It therefore seems right for a choreographer to study more carefully not only the limitation of dancer's limbs but also the limitation of their general stamina ."

You will never regret spending the money on this book.I refer to this book often. It has excellent photographs also.

I am fortunate in that one of my friends is a physiotherapist who works at the local medical centre. This book provides excellent back up.

Data Warehousing and Web Engineering

Wide survey of data mining and data warehousing issues
This is a collection of papers that cover salient issues in data warehousing with an emphasis on business intelligence, data mining and knowledge management applications. While many of the papers in this book are more useful to technical professionals, there is a lot of material that will also be useful to marketing and competitive intelligence specialists in the business domain.

Some of the papers are more basic and introductory, such as "Justification of Data Warehousing Projects", "An Introduction to Information Technology and Business Intelligence" and "Some Issues in Design of Data Warehousing Systems". Some, however, address advanced topics such as "Data Mining Methods Databases and Statistics Point of Views" and "Incremental Data Allocation and Reallocation in Distributed Database Systems".

My personal favorite papers were "Specification of Components Based on the WebComposition Component Model" (reflecting professional interests in component-based development), "Complementing the Data Warehouse with Information Filtered from the Web", and "Using Business Rules Within a Design Process of Active Databases" (another area of professional interest).

In addition, the papers cover topics in data mining, data quality and knowledge management, which means that there is at least a few papers that will intersect with a reader's professional interests. The best audience for this book includes academics (the papers are citable), consultants who specialize in business intelligence and data mining, and organizations that have a solid base of experience with advanced uses of data warehousing.

An important work, spanning biblical to contemporary poets
This is an impressive collection of known works and newly discovered feminist pieces in their original Hebrew and in stunning translations. Biblical and rabbinic literature is culled for feminist voices; midieval literature from around the world is mined; 20th century Hebrew poets, including a good number of current writers, are represented. There are many poems that you'd expect to find in a collection like this, and many that will be new to you. Bravo to the editors, themselves poets and translators, for this landmark contribution to Hebrew feminist literature.

Understand and Value the Different Ways of Following Christ
From the cover of the book: "Why is it that people who read the same Bible and talk about the same Christ, even when they belong to the same church, have trouble getting along with each other and committing themselves to a common witness in the world?"

This book helped me see why others approach their faith different from the way I approach mine, and how we should value our differences instead of trying to change each other's mind!

Best book I have read for children of divorced parents
The authors shared the real life emotions that young children feel when they have to deal with the divorce of their parents. This book is a workbook for a young child, to be read and talked about with a caring adult. The story of Kristen, the cat, was skillfully written to help children feel understood, how to handle new members of the family that might come, and how to not be the "messenger" for each parent. It inspired me. It gave me hope that I can help them feel "whole" again. It is the book that I will choose as a gift for adults who want to help young children understand and talk about what they are experiencing.

Sweet Story with Beautiful Illustrations
My daughter a beginning reader read this without difficulty. The book has no slang or words my daughter sometimes has trouble with in the "All Aboard Reading" series. She also really enjoyed looking at the beautiful, somewhat old-fashioned illustrations.
