This book is worth your time, I promise
Like others have said it, I say it too because it's true, reading this book makes you feel like you're there, seeing everything happen and actually sharing the same feelings with Margaret. I couldn't have read a more touching story as this one. I highly recommend you all read it because I am SURE you will enjoy it. The whole book is about Kathi's life (Margaret's daughter). Kathi was a very special person and a great great loss to her family and to all who knew her. But in return for Kathi's tragic death so many other people have turned to God and that's what Kathi wanted. Her dream came true. reading this book will surely make you think twice about your relationship with God and will give you the motivation to improve it.
Thank you Kathi for the great examples you have set in your life and thank you Margaret for publishing your daughter's life and sharing it with the world.

Again I recommend this book to everyone, please read it.
God bless you all

A must-read for everyone of all ages!!!
This was an absolutely wonderful bitter-sweet book. Kathi's zest for life and spirit just lept from the pages. She had such a gift for leading lost souls to God. She wasted no time with her short life on this earth. Some of us never have the pleasure of meeting someone on this earth that touch us so deeply and make such a difference in our lives. Those that Kathi touched were so blessed to have known her. It's so amazing that even in death, Kathi, through her mother, Margaret, is still leading people to God. What a legacy! God bless you, Margaret, for having the courage and strength to tell Kathi's story so that others may benefit from it. This is a great book to read if your looking for a heart-warming story. You are sure to find a blessing in this book.

This book is worth your time, i PROMISE

The very best of Margaret Wise Brown
At Last! A reissue of this outstanding book, and most importantly, with the original illustrations! This book cleverly incorporates the concept of color mixing, but the lyrical verse and captivating pictures are what made it a part of our family's fabric. (our 4 adult children are now ages 35-45 and still remember every word) I had about given up ever finding it again. Our family copy, which is well over 30 years old, has been loved to loose paged pieces. This is just in time for our newest two year old grandchild, and I am getting multiple copies, JUST us case it disappears again! Oh wonderful kittens, oh Brush and Hush!

Finally!!!
I can't believe I have finally found this wonderful book again. It was my absolute favorite as a child-I never got over those kittens! I was heartbroken not to have it for my older daughter and so pleased that I am able to get it for my second and third little girls. I am decorating their room by matting and framing the pages and will read it to them as much as they'll let me. Truly, it is a wonderful book for teaching kids about color mixing but the old fashioned illustrations are timeless and just so sweet. I am buying many copies: for us, our daughters' preschool, and to save for my granchildren-in case it ever goes away again. Why Good Night Moon and Run Away Bunny have staying power and the Color Kittens didn't is just beyond me. Buy it!

The Color Kittens
This was my favorite book as a small child. Now my nephiews and nieces will grow up with it, too. Every time I think about it, I get a warm, fuzzy feeling. I remember cuddling up with my grandma and reading this book for hours on end... :)

Gong Hee Fat Choy
I, too, have been using this book for over twenty years. And it now time to replace my tattered copy which is being held together with a paperclip. It is very easy to use and usually quite accurate. I am so thankful it is still in print. Buy the book, you will not be disappointed.

Better Than a Tarot Deck!
I have used this book for TWENTY years and have found it to be much easier than using the Tarot. It is incredibly accurate and gives alot of information. If you are looking for something you can use everyday, this book is wonderful. It's great for daily and weekly readings.

The Perfect Gift for the Under Six Crowd!
Little Fur Family was originally published in 1946. It was written by Margaret Wise Brown (Goodnight Moon and The Runaway Bunny) and illustrated by Garth Williams. The book tells the story of a day in the life of a litle fur bear who lives in his little fur world. The text is told in a rhyming format adored by most young children. Its miniature size appeals to those who are miniature themselves! In addition, you should purchase the copy that has the faux fur cover. It makes the book as sweet and comforting in texture as it does in content. A great stocking stuffer and a wonderful present for any time of the year...Little Fur Family is a sure hit.

Brings out the essence of youth
The Little Fur Family is the best of childhood, remembered as wild sights and cozy feelings. To be able to boil the spiritual and emotional experience of raw child-ness down to the essential syrup is the perfection of Margaret Wise Brown. The best comparison would be having to condense a biographical novel to a haiku, and Brown does it in the same seductive style as the sea to draw the eyes, a river to the ears, and a blue sky to the deepest imagination. The story is told through the mind of a little fur child, who lives with his family in the wood. As he travels in his world that day, little wonder that it takes the reader, child or adult, to their own memories. Even though my bookshelves house books by Chomsky, Foucault, and Mahfouz, The Little Fur Family is always my heartfelt favorite. This book is a sweet story without having the backlash of crawling around in the muck of saccharine characters or the rabid commercialism of children's stories that have action figures or theme parks. If this story stimulates your appetite, I also recommend Goodnight Moon, another Margaret Wise Brown classic

This is the most delightfulk children's story I have read.
One of the greatest joys of my life was sitting at the dining room table watching my 7-year-old granddaughter reading The Little Fur Family to my 4-year-old grandson while the two older grandchildren joined in singing the little song. I shall never forget how much love they showed for each other as so beautifully depicted in Margaret Wise Brown's extraordinararily charming little book. There is no other children's book quite like it.

"Joe" Even Comes Abroad!
One does not have to be female to appreciate this excellent encouraging novel by Ms. Joan Brady, right? I am a Japanese male graduate student and first found this novel in Japanese translation a month and a half ago. No other book finding I have done can be better, more dramatic and successful than this one. Since then I always carry the book with me to read on bus; in fact, I have reread more than five times, which motivated me to order the audio version (besides, I was looking for some story-telling audio for my English learning). During listening to the two cassette tapes, the only time I stood up and got back to the real world was when I replace the tapes for the second half of the story. Oh, the one and only frustration I have on this novel is... in my humble English I cannot express the whole joy I got from the story! Now it is time to order the original English version to fully appreciate it. In whatever language you read, I trust that you will love the novel. Thank you, Ms. Brady, Christine and "Joe".

On my top 5 favorite book list!
This is a marvelous book. Not only is it a breeze to read, but it has made my life easier in contributing to altering my perspective on existence. I sent out a mass email to my enlightened friends, highly recommending this wonderful fable.

Are you tired of hurting inside and feeling unworthy of love
This is the best book I have ever read. I am not a reader. Itwas extremely easy to understand and so uplifting. I now have anotherset of commandments for taking care of me which is something that I thought I didn't deserve! I have posted the commandments around the house as a constant reminder. I have bought lot's of copies for family and friends. I hope Joan Brady writes more.

Three children's classics in board form will delight
Originally written in the 1940's, these classic children's books will still delight your baby or toddler. The youngest baby is lulled to sleep by the gentle rhymes, and will enjoy the bright colors and charming illustrations as he or she gets older."Goodnight Moon" depicts a young bunny rabbit awake in his bed as he tells all the objects and animals he can see "Goodnight". He lists everything he can see, including his mittens, some kittens, and of course the moon. Toddlers will begin to appreciate the make-believe world of "The Runaway Bunny", in which a mother bunny tells her child she will be there to keep him safe no matter where he runs to. The bright colors of "Big Red Barn" are intriguing to little ones, and will help teach the names of many animals, too. The board books are ideal for the youngest readers, as they can easily help turn the pages. It is difficult for a child younger than 2 years old to turn the paper pages of most books. These are three excellent books to add to your child's library and start the happy tradition of reading!

I wish I could give these books to every child in the world
These are the books your children will take to bed with them every night. Goodnight Moon has been my daughter's favorite bedtime book for 2 years, the one she HAS to have read to her before she can fall asleep. It must be the lyrical prose, and the illustrations that FEEL like a bedtime snuggle...this is the book I buy as a gift for every new parent.

Runaway Bunny is just beautiful, the watercolor paintings of a mother and child are fanciful and loving, and seem to come straight from a child's imagination. The theme is especially helpful for clingy children, reassuring them there will always be enough love to sustain them.

The Big Red Barn is simply the most enchanting book of farm animals I have ever seen, with lively colors and a story that intrigues my daughter so much, this is the first book she was content to sit down with and "read" all alone.

A peek into a child's world
Although these books were first written about 40 years ago they are still fresh and new for each child to discover. The author allows the reader a peek into the world of our children; sweet and endearing. These books now available in board book format for the youngest listeners are the perfect bedtime books to soothe a youngster off to sleep. "Runaway Bunny" assures each child of the parent's unconditional love. "Goodnight Moon" not only offers a sweet way to say goodnight to familiar objects, but may even help establish a bedtime ritual that will help your child get ready for sleep, and "Big Red Barn" offers a perfect introduction to animals; their sounds and families. All in all this collection makes a great addition to a well established children's library, or a great foundation.

Good for medical transcriptionists; All body systems complete
I used this book to learn medical terminology for my career in medical transcription. This book was excellent for that use. Fairfax Cty. Adult Ed. uses this as its text for Medical Terminolgy. The disks in the back are helpful too; assist a person with pronounciation of terms.

A Great Medical Terminology Text Gets Even Better!
In the sixth revision of The Language of Medicine Davi-Ellen Chabner updates an already comprehensive medical terminology book. Even the colors are high energy! From the cover colors to those used in photos and diagrams, it is a pleasure to review. From a learner's perspective, TLOM has it all. Chabner wants the learner to understand medical terminology not just learn it by rote memorization. In-text exercises with answers are offered as well as a CD which offers questions, answers, photos, video clips, pronunciation of terms and more. The welcome Instructor's Manual has been updated and expanded for educators. There is even a Web site which benefits both students and instructors with loads of material and the opportunity to have two-way communication. Medical terminology touches the lives of all of us. In the pursuit of life-long learning, The Language of Medicine would be beneficial for everyone's reference collection.

Note to Editors: I had previously written a review for the fifth edition of The Language of Medicine. The above is written specifically for the sixth edition. Could you substitute it, please? Thanks!

Ths is the EASIEST way to learn terminology and anatomy
The structure of this book makes it easy to follow and constantly involves you with writing terms to help learn and retain information. The anatomical sections are very user-friendly and explain complex medical terms in layman's terms. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn terminology and anatomy as it never overwhelms you.

Insightful!
When British explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton was busy saving his crew after a shipwreck in the Antarctic in 1914, you would guess that he wasn't thinking much about teaching leadership lessons. But author Dennis N.T. Perkins uses Shackleton's expedition to show how the leadership principles the explorer exercised can be applied to your work. He even adds modern case studies as illustration. This excellent book is at its best when it describes Shackleton's courageous rescue. He led his men to safety through a frozen wilderness by focusing on the ultimate goal of survival, setting a personal example, overcoming conflict, minimizing status differences, stressing teamwork and applying other essential leadership qualities. Though the principles may sound familiar, the book provides a dramatic new view of them, and it is written in a clear, crisp style. We at getAbstract.com recommend it to all corporate explorers.

Captivating Read of Leadership Lessons from Explorer
Dennis was interviewed about this book on FoxNews, and he was captivating with his story of Shackleton and what he learned of leadership.

Perkins has applicable background, in Vietnam and management consulting and teaching which make this book doubly fascinating.

I found his style and wit so easy to read and yet remember the points being made. There are many one can take away from this and use, however two that stand out in my mind are: great leaders don't enter knowing everything, e.g. Shackleton had never even slept in a sleeping bag before, much is learned; second, in At Edge experiences, overcome uncertainly with structure and distractions.

So much more could be said about this excellent contribution to leadership. It is well structured with Shackleton's lessons first, then biz cases which are each unique and contribute to illustrations of these leadership lessons. After each section there is reflection, while at the book's end, more intense follow-up excercies and resources to be pursued.

One great leadership adventure!

Adventure, Survival, & Leadership
This outstanding book is a collection and analysis of leadership lessons from Ernest Shackleton's heroic 1914-1916 Antarctic expedition at the edge of survival. Shackleton's amazing adventure saga alone is a great read, but it is the leadership insights that make this book a "must-read."

Perkins carefully organized the book into four inter-related parts. After briefly summarizing the Shackleton expedition, in Part One Perkins presents his 10 strategies for leading at the edge:

1-Vision and Quick Victories: Never lose sight of the ultimate goal, and focus energy on short-term objectives.

2-Symbolism and Personal Example: Set a personal example with visible, memorable symbols and behaviors.

3-Optimism and Reality: Instill optimism and self-confidence, but stay grounded in reality.

4-Stamina: Take care of yourself: Maintain your stamina and let go of guilt.

5-The Team Message: Reinforce the team message constantly: "We are one - we live or die together."

6-Core Team Values: Minimize status differences and insist on courtesy and mutual respect.

7-Conflict: Master conflict - deal with anger in small doses, engage dissidents, and avoid needless power struggles.

8-Lighten Up!: Find something to celebrate and something to laugh about.

9-Risk: Be willing to take the Big Risk.

10-Tenacious Creativity: Never give up - there's always another move.

Interwoven with these strategies are detailed accounts from Shackleton's expedition and real world business examples to fully illustrate the strategies' applicability to today's leadership environments.

Part Two is case studies of four organizations that successfully applied the strategies and achieved remarkable success. In Part Three, Perkins "outlines a number of qualities and actions that...contribute to living, learning, and thriving at "The Edge."" Part Four provides the reader with some tools to further develop individual leadership skills.

Written by a former combat Lieutenant of Marines in Vietnam and current "President of The Syncretics Group, a consultancy that focuses on effective leadership in demanding environments," this book was a very enjoyable and informative study of leadership. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in learning about, and seeing if they have what it takes for, leading at the edge.

Best Aaron Carter book ever!!
If you're an Aaron Carter fan (like myself) how could you not like or have read this book? This book was written by Aaron Carter's mother, Jane Carter. Some people may think Mrs. Carter is a "stage mother" who's too proud of her sensational singin' sons. But that's not true! You will find in AARON CARTER: THE LITTLE PRINCE OF POP that his mother cares about him deeply and that she is just proud of him and Nick because of how hard they worked at their careers...so stop dissing this amazingly talented family when you don't even know a thing about them and what they're really like! Anyways, in this book, you will find some interesting and cool facts and stories that you never knew about Aaron or his family before. You will also find lots and lots of awesome and cute photos of Aaron. There's a whole section in the middle with color full-color, page-size photos and throughout the rest of this book you will find various black and white small photos. By reading this book, you will get the true inside-scoop on Aaron. And, as a bonus, you will find some stories on Aaron's big bro, Nick Carter (Backstreet Boys) and find some hot photos of him, too! A great read and a must for any Aaron Carter fan. I totally recommend it. And, if you love Backstreet Boys, than I also suggest you getting THE HEART AND SOUL OF NICK CARTER: SECRETS ONLY A MOTHER CAN TELL, also written by Jane Carter. Check both books out - both are really great. I love Nick and Aaron Carter!!!

Best Aaron Book You Will Ever Read
Who knew you could do so much reading in one summer? This is the only book I have bought/read over the summer, and let me tell ya, its really good, I read it in a little under 2 days. This is probably the best Aaron Carter book you will ever read since it is a true life story written by the one who knows him best! Mom, Jane Carter, who is also the author of Nick Carter's book The Heart And Soul Of Nick Carter. I recomend this to Aaron fans and also the lonely hearted ones who have doubted Aaron's succsess may need to think twice about critisizing Aaron because of his young age, hey, he wont be this young 4 long! It tells his whole life story including how he was just a 6, going on 7 year old frontman headbanging and screaming covers of Greenday along with his teenage bandmates for a local rock school band, Dead End and what he thought of it. This will surely settle some rumors and untrue stuff you might have heard in the past. And answer some questions like Why soes Aaron want to attend regular school? Why is cotton candy a no-no? Whats it like to be a twin? and many, many more! It is also filled with a color photo insert and some black and white photos at each chapter! Enjoy!

A great read! 5 stars!
Well, Jane Carter has done it again. This book is an awesome read for ANY Aaron Carter fan. I'm just so glad it's out. I've had it on reserve in 8 different stores since January. :o) I love how Jane points out how much influence a pop star has on a girl's life, and how every little thing they do affects it. I loved reading about Aaron's ride to the top, and how he finally got there. This book shows that Aaron Carter is just a kid, and while he IS a famous teen idol, he still wants to go fishing. And I think we *Aaron's fans* should realize that. After all, he is only 12. What I loved most about this book was Aaron's heart-felt introduction. The whole egg in the hand thing was totally sweet, and it really meant a lot to me. This boy knows what he's talking about. Overall, this book is a really good one. Thank you soo much Mrs. Carter, and Aaron, keep on singin'!

A totally captivating and revealing novel.
"A True History of Paradise" is one of those novels so compelling you want them never to end, and when they do, you can't wait to hear that the author has published another book continuing the story. It's a fascinating tale told from the point of view of a modern young Jamaican woman, Jean Landing. Her story is punctuated with fascinating reminiscences of her ancestors and descriptions of events from friends' and relatives' viewpoints. Exciting and informative, complex but lucid, and well-crafted, the novel vividly demonstrates the difficulties created by colonization. Because of her mixed-race heritage and her sensitive and intelligent perceptive powers, the story Jean tells is enlightening as well as engrossing. In addition, her vivid descriptions of her homeland reveal it as an almost unbearably beautiful country. I want to visit Jamaica, and I want to hear more about Jean!

A CLASSIC! ...SHOULD BE ON EVERY JAMAICAN'S BOOKSHELF
Cezair-Thompson's "TRUE" HISTORY is fiction, yet history. This work brings to life the island's harshest realities, centuries of its colourful history, the dynamism of its polygenetic people, and its breathtakingly beautiful landscape in such a manner that leaves the reader marvelling at Cezair-Thompson's amazing artistry...at her talented interweaving of fact and fiction into a most beautiful tapestry depicting Jamaican life. It is a riveting account of a heartbreaking period in our history, and anyone who lived through the 70s in Kingston will inevitably live through it again when reading this book. My job requires me to read a great many books...and never have I so closely identified with any of them as I do to TRUE HISTORY. Cezair-Thompson has told many a Jamaican's story in this book...she tells the story of many of us that live here and has certainly told the story of most of our diaspora. A highly recommended read for all Jamaicans, for anyone interested in Caribbean literature and/or history, for anyone appreciative of literary techniques, and for anyone who just wants a truly great read!

Island of Magic
Anyone who loves Jamaica or who wants to learn more about Jamaica must read "True History" which is an exquisitely told story of a woman's history and farewell to this beautiful, torn island in the sun. Reading this wonderfully written and complex story served to crystalize my own feelings of ambivalence towards the home of my heart. I too was born and spent the first 20 years of my life there, and as I read the novel in my American house, the memories, the smells, the sights and sounds of the island washed over me and took me home. I long to be there, yet the reality of life in Jamaica is often frustrating and frightening. Similar to Jean's, my own Jamaican family tree is filled with Irish, French, English, African, and Indian branches. From the 1700's my family has struggled with, and loved passsionately, the harsh yet frequently magical reality that is Jamaica. Like Jean, every time I return, I try to imprint on my mind the beauty of the island, even as I am driven away by the impracticality of living there. At least I will have "True Paradise", like a time machine, to welcome me again and again.
