Super Book
This book is fascinating for any blues or history lover. My husband bought it--we both read it and have passed it on--it is on it's way to a different state with a friend and we are buying another copy which we will also share with friends and family. Really makes one understand and appreciate REAL blues and what it has done to influence all kinds of music through the years. Highly recommend especially for music and history teachers as well as musicians.

Unjustly forgotten
This is the reprint of the edition published in 1797, with engravings of William Blake. The poem itself, enormously popular in the 18th century, is now shrouded in obscurity, and it stays in print only due to Blake's illustrations. But despite of its unpopularity, I found it quite enjoyable. It is best read in one sitting, without interrupting the constant flow of ideas and thoughts. It is a meditation, at once introspective and all-encompassing, a contemplation of Death, Time, Friendship, and Immortality of man. Granted, it does tend to drag on too much in the last chapter, but the first ones are so good they're worthy of being memorized. Blake's engravings, surrounding the text as a frame, capture the essense of the poem and at the same time enhance it, adding to it even more depth. The poem's abstract concepts take shape, making some passages more memorable. (This edition includes a commentary on the pictures' symbolism.) The book is worth getting for the engravings alone; it is a work of art in every sense of the word.

Now and at the Hour
Published in Paperback by Laureleaf (1991)

A realistic story about one man's journey towards death
I've read all of Robert Cormier's young adult books, but I didn't know what to expect of this, one of his few books written for the adult audience. It was pretty well-written, I guess. Alph LeBlanc is dying of lung cancer. He knows and his family knows, but they are in denial; trying to hide it from each other. Alph is in his late fifties and has a wife and some grown children. The book covered a lot of stuff: his love for his kids, the tragic death of his three-year-old daughter, his feelings towards his family in general, memories of his life. It was pretty gloomy, but I guess that's to be expected -- I mean, the book was about death and dying. All in all a good book, though I prefer his young adult ones.

The Nurses' Guide to Clinical Procedures - a Nurses' Bible
This is an excellent book for students of the nursing profession. Clear concise details are given. It is ideal for studies and I consider it to be a 'Nurses' Bible" and it is one I will keep and refer to forever. Recommended for all medical students. You can't get a better book at this price.

women's spirituality
The hidden gem in this book is how it reveals the persistance of women's spirituality as practiced by this off-shoot of Mormonism. With the dedication of the recently restored Temnple in Nauvoo Ill. It is instructive to see the parallels between orthodox mormon spirituality and that performed by the Cutlerites in Minnesota.
A little insight into standard Mormon practice informs a reading of this book.

great for poetry phobes
I am studying American poetry and have always felt shaky about analyzing poets and their works. I like this book because it's more in depth than Cliff Notes and more sophisticated. It also pointed me toward more stuff than the net did. The biography of Frost was really helpful.

I think this book is an excellant guide for Spanish. I am a current Spanish student and think this book is better than the book I am using for Spanish II!! This book explains everything clearly and it's straight to the point. I used this book recently to study for a spanish placement test and was placed in the highest Spanish available! This book is incredible!
