God's love is so amazing!
This is without a doubt the most beautiful love story I've ever read. God really did amazing things in Eric and Leslie's lives because they trusted in Him. They left their lives in His hands, and He gave them the most precious, beautiful love story. This book changed all my views. It proves that He will bless us abundantly if we put our lives in His hands.

The Best Courtship Book I've Seen!
Wow, what an amazing story! Eric and Leslie Ludy inspired me and my (now) husband to walk in a courtship relationship instead of dating. In our courtship process, we read this book together and were blessed to know that respect and honor can still exist in relationships! As a result, my husband and I had a very romantic courtship and just like Eric and Leslie - enjoyed our parents in the midst of it. We stayed open and honest with each other and had a lot of fun! God has richly blessed us with Eric and Leslie's story!

This book is a MUST READ for those seeking God in their life
Eric and Leslie have the most amazing love story I've ever even dreamed of. And that's all because they let God write it for them. Their book shows how God wrote the most romantic love story for them, and how He can and wants to do the same for you. Eric and Leslie's story has turned my whole world around; I don't think at all like I used to. They challenged me to let God be number one in my life, and to let Him invade my whole being, and since I've done that, He has done miraculous things in my life! If you are truly searching for ways you can please God and make Him not just a part of your life, but actually make HIM your life, you HAVE to read this book. It is very well written, you will never want to put it down once you start. It'll make you laugh, cry, and long for God's best for your life. Read it and see for yourself. :-)

A Must Read!
I have read countless books on marriage, not because I have a hard marriage, just the opposite.
I feel my marriage is worth all the effort I put into it and because our Enemy is always throwing those daggers at Christian marriages it never hurts to be encouraged by others.

Leslie has written one of the best if not THE best book on marriage that I have ever read. It does not seem to be a book written through the human perspective it seems that all of her wisdom is God-given and Biblical in nature.

You could almost think of her book as a bible study on acting right (at any time, not just in marriage)! She not only tells how to act right but why we should and how we will benefit and how our spouse will benefit.

She does not promise that acting right will guarantee that your spouse will begin to act right also. That is not the issue. The issue is that we are in a marriage not for our felt needs she says but our real needs and what we really need is to learn to be more like Jesus. Sometimes our Lord uses tough things for our benefit and for us to grow spiritually. (There is always the hope and possibility tho that the more we act right our spouse will learn to act right also.)

I highly recommend that anyone read this book, if you are married, engaged, dating a possible mate (aren't all dates possible mates) or just even want to learn how to respond to other people correctly.
Thank you, Leslie for such a great book!

Wisdom for the married!
Leslie Vernick provides practical wisdom that can move you beyond the struggles and entanglements of your martial frustrations or woes toward new growth. This book is a must IF you want to do what is best for your marriage-- regardless of the decisions and choices of your spouse. Georgia Shaffer, PA Licensed Psychologist

"For every husband, every wife."
Unless you're married to Jesus, your spouse often acts wrong. The most natural thing in the world is to react in kind. Natural, but not helpful! With tremendous insight, licensed counselor Leslie Vernick explains what our reactions reveal about us, why it's so important we respond right, and how to practically act right when everything within us wants to act wrong. I found this book incredibly convicting, extremely encouraging, and highly practical. Give your marriage a gift and read this book as soon as possible. And, when you're finished, pass it on to your spouse. Chances are his/her mate doesn't always act right either!

Great Time Travel romance!
My first Leslie Lafoy, and I loved it very much! Now she became my favorite author. This is must-read for any time-travel reader. I highly recommend this book!

Leslie LaFoy is My FAVORITE author!!!
I have read both of the books Leslie LaFoy wrote and I absolutely love them. She has fantastic characters. The women are strong, self reliant, but still hold on to their feminity. The men are strong and with great personality. I love her writing style....I am dying to read the next book she wrote. Leslie LaFoy...don't you ever stop writing, you are talented, clever, and have definitly found your calling! Mindy

The best romance I've read in quite some time
When the bus pulled into the depot from my commute to work I was terribly dissappointed. I wish I had hit 2 hours of traffic becuase I did not want to put this book down. The story of Carrick and Glynnis was a delight to read. The fast paced, witty conversation, easy quips and light banter had me laughing with the characters. I had some idea how Ms. LaFoy was going to end this one, but I didn't care. I now have to go out and buy the previous book - the story of Carrick's parents, something tells me it will be worth it!!!

Awesome Book
I really enjoyed reading this book. I checked it out at the library and now when I have nothing to read it is like an old friend to go back and read again. It is exciting and has a killer ending. Great Read.

Best Book of the Springsong Series
Fantastic, terrific, wonderful, phenomenal . . . etc., etc., etc.! DO NOT READ THE END before you read the rest--it'll wreck everything for you. This is one of the only SpringSong Books I've ever given FIVE stars, but even that isn't enough. Steven and Leslie are so real, and so well developed, and I really enjoyed the plot. You've never read a book like this before, and you never will again--it's completely unique. For me, characters make or break a story, and in turn dialogue makes or breaks the characters. This book is a great example of how to write dialogue! Jeanne Anders is simply a great author. I only wish she wrote more SpringSong Books--I'd buy them all!

THIS IS A GREAT, FANTASTIC, FABULOUS BOOK!
The above summary is true! . . . Very true! My friend has this book and whenever I barrow some from her I barrow this one. I like it that much.

These stories are classics
When I finished the last story in Monday's Meal I paused, reflected, and then read it right through again from the beginning. Part of the reason for my re-reading was a simple desire to repeat the pleasure; part of it was a desire to understand what made these elegantly constructed stories tick. Just where was I drawn from a realistic beginning into the banishment of the ordinary - the strange, ordinary world that some of these stories inhabit? Just where is the edge in these finely drawn personalities, the edge that leads to the end? One can also learn from these stories. The craft, the amazing economy deserve study, but one can just go along for the ride and enjoy. I would compare some of the plots to Ray Carver's in their structure, but Edgerton has it all over Carver in his depiction of personality. Edgerton's people have depth, they are all different, and the actions flow entirely from their natures. This is a collection not to be missed.

Edgerton is the last of the Great American Authors
This collection will grab you by the heart and wrench it right out of your chest. The characters are hauntingly authentic as are the New Orleans and South Texas settings they inhabit. These are deeply troubled individuals coping with other troubled individuals who find solace only in the bottle and the arid soil underneath the soles of their battered Tony Lamas. Edgerton reigns as a supreme American author. A sort of Ray Carver meets Denis Johnson. A literary man who succeeds where the academics fail--he knows plot, he knows story, he knows action! The last of a great breed that includes Hemingway, Mailer and Jim Harrison. It's simple. If you don't read Les Edgerton, you lose.

Darkness visible.
Edgerton's stories takes us down those side streets or out into the backwoods most of us have passed by. What we meet there are the people we have avoided all our lives. What we find is the human heart, its brightness and dark corners. And we leave and return to the same world we have always known, but it doesn't look the same. Joyously disturbing work, hard to ignore.

The Brainy Beat
I didn't know much about Whalen's poetry until he died this year, but the terrific memorial reading for him here in San Francisco drove me to "Overtime" and man, what a find. The Beats were more learned than the 'first thought, best thought' aesthetic suggests, and Whalen's poems balance religion, philosophy and cranky Zen insight with a casual, conversational Americanese in a way few of his more famous contemporaries could touch. His poems draw from a deep past that embraces everything from ancient Chinese verse to classical music, but insist that it walk down the street in T-shirt and jeans. Whalen spent the last three decades of his life at the San Francisco Zen Center--his particular brand of Buddhism, so generous to human failings (starting always, comically, with his own) and never, ever doctrinaire, has to be one of the most attractive spins on Eastern religion I've read. Whalen was in it and of it, never above it. He gives the moment plenty of wiggle room in his writing, so that cats, friends and silly thoughts can all stray into the poems without being shoo'd out for art. Whatever Beat meant, Whalen shows it in about its best light. Poetry's a little thinner and more straight-laced with him gone.

This is poetry!
This isn't some crumbling, dry keeper of the hallowed institution that is sometimes "poetry." It is sad that Whalen's works are so hard to come by these days.

Why aren't you reading this?

Run to your nearest bookseller and demand this book!
Philip Whalen is a national treasure, one of our most important living poets. This collection, masterfully assembled by Michael Rothenberg, is a great place to start if you're not familiar with Whalen's work, and a glorious visiting ground for those of us who have already discovered him. Don't let the word POETRY dissuade you. You will not be bored for a minute.

A note from the author
Dear Readers,

I wrote Plan Z by Leslie Kove. I hope you enjoy it. Unfortunately the excerpt provided in this listing has some serious text left out which renders it incomprehensible. My apologies. I hope you can get a taste of it anyhow. I've been telling people it's a funny book about getting over trauma. It's also about healing, and growing up, and a whole lot of other things. Writing it was the single most blissful experience I have ever had alone!

Wonderfully honest, hopeful book.
This book reads like a memoir. What a wonderful read it was. I couldn't put it down. I loved the way the author brought her childhood memories into the story. In just the right places. To clarify just the right points. What a marvelous risk taker. What a marvelous explosion into life. Bravo Betsy!

Must read!
As the book cover says -- it's like Catcher in the Rye, but for the 70's generation. Funny, insightful, fun, and lots of vivid memories.

Prof. Calculus helps Tintin in his great undersea adventure
Make sure you read the previous Tintin Adventure, "The Secret of the Unicorn," otherwise you will really not know all about the background on "Red Rackham's Treasure," despite the fact Hergé offers a bit of a recapitulation in the form of a conversation overhead in a bar. The main thing is that having collected all the clues regarding the titular treasure, Tintin and Captain Haddock are prepared to go forth and find it. However, almost as important as the search for the treasure is our introduction to the final pivotal member of the Tintin family, as Professor Cuthbert Calculus offers the service of his small shark-proof submarine for exploring the ocean floor. Tintin refuses the offer, but it turns out that Professor Calculus always hears somkething other than what somebody is really saying. Adding to the fun are the Thom(p)sons, who come alone with orders to protect Tintin. "Red Rackham's Treasure" is mostly a pure adventure story, with Tintin using the small submarine and a deep sea diving suit to look for the treasure of the Unicorn. But there is still some detective work left to be done to decipher the final cryptic clues left by Sir Francis Haddock concerning the treasure's location. I still like Hergé's two-part adventure that sent Tintin to the Moon, but this two-parter is not far behind. This is the last of the Tintin stories Hergé wrote during World War II, and after this point we will definitely see his stories become much more allegorical in terms of post-War Europe.

Fabulous
Tintin is great. I never tire of re-reading him.
Red Rackham's Treasure sees our erstwhile hero gallivanting off with Snowy, Captain Haddock and the Thompson Twins after the adventures outlined in "Secret of the Unicorn'. In this book we are introduced to the absent-minded Professor Calculus - it's always great to see how the drawing of characters change after a couple of adventures! - and his amazing shark submarine. Suffice it to say, deep-sea diving, bottles of rum, the odd shark, all lead to the golden treasure in a most unexpected place.
Everyone should read Tintin and this adventure is one of the best.

Simply Amazing
Tintin is a legendary character and this is one of his best adventures ever. It is just breathtaking, funny as usual and full of thrill. This is a must for any comics lover. God Bless you Herge.

Every recipe a gem.
There is no waste in this little book. The general information on muffin baking is precise and informative. The recipes are unique, but not off the wall--in contrast to most one-item cookbooks, every one of them is appealing. Definitely try the Pumpernickel Raisin Muffins. They are a great breakfast treat. This is definitely the one book to have on this subject. Also try Totally Teabreads by the same authors for the same consistent excellence. Can't praise them enough!!

easy, practical and good to eat!
I have a lot of cookbooks on my shelf, but this tiny volume is one of my favorites and packs a lot of punch for its size. I have made the blueberry and banana muffins. Both were excellent. The value of this book is outstanding.

The best muffin cookbook ever... except for the sequel!
You can count on all the recipes in this book being tried and true. My copy is held together by a rubber band because I use it so much. The corn muffin recipe makes the best I've ever had (I add just a little extra sugar, and sometimes use buttermilk) and the cappuccino chip muffins are fantastic (try adding toffee chips). Be sure to try the new "More Muffins" as well as the other books in the series -- Totally Teabreads, Simply Scones, etc. All are reliable.

A Thought-Provoking and Entertaining Novel
I just finished reading this book (it took me two days) and I have to say that it was quite a joy and a change from Maalouf's other books. The writing style is, as usual, first rate and the difference lies in it being more creative and philosophical. While reading it one cannot help but wonder about the state of our world and the very likely scenarios set out here. This is even more important today with the seemingly limitless possibilities expected from genetic manipulation now that the human genome has been cracked. A very enlightening book that is a joy to read.

A beautiful book.
The First century after Beatrice was a perfect read. Short, making you want it more than anything too go on! Amin Maalouf writes melodies of words, sentances that are beautiful... His characters are clear and imaginable, but maintain a shadowy edge, as if a slight magic mist is with them at all times. The story is good. Believable. I don't want to use the term science fiction for fear of bringing robots into your head, it's not that at all. It is the best sort of science fiction. Brilliantly written, believable unreality. You are guaranteed to enjoy. Love Mari a xx

Gene cloning, gender relations, love of a father and husband
I have started reading Maalouf's books with Semekand and have always been impressed with the well-researched, perfectly-written historically based books of him. This time he compeletely changes his style and still handles of the best books I have ever read in my whole life... Not only the political estimations but also the characters are deeply thought. The way he criticised the enthusiasm of todays world on gene cloning is really impressive. If you want to think about the North-South relationships on the globe next century, this book will give you a certain perspective for sure. You should also read the gender relationships throughout the world from such a creative point of view... Definetely worth reading. I recommended this book to everybody I know.
