Moses: The Lost Book of the Bible
Published in Paperback by New Millenium Pr (2003)
Author: Leslie H., Jr Whitten
Amazon base price: $14.95
Average review score:

An amazing literary tour de force
Scholarship and Bible stories don't necessarily produce exciting, page-turning readability, but in the hands of a consumately skilled novelist like Leslie Whitten the narrative flow of this utterly fascinating fictional history is relentlessly swift and unstoppable. A remarkable literary achievement.

Soul Stirring Fiction
An at once engaging, credible, and intriguing portrayal sets the mind racing back to scripture with a fresh perspective. Whitten tugs the heart toward physical, emotional, and spiritual struggles that shaped Moses as man, leader, and prophet. Biblical accounts, which stir mind and soul, find uncommon vitality in this lost book of the bible. The payoff is a renewed appreciation of timeless lessons and an absorbing read - marvelously done.

A must for those who enjoy biblical fiction
Undoubtedly the best piece of biblical fiction I have read since "The Robe." The author has obviously done his homework on the times and the places that relate to Moses. Reading this, one can believe that this is maybe the way it was, the feel is so authentic. You can almost sense the sand from the desert, the smell of the camel, and the taste of honey wine. A welcome read.

Go for it!
An excellent book to get you started with capturing little pieces of nature to bring indoors with you. Truly helps diminish the "Oh, I can't do that" syndrome. Take the kids with you and make a project of it. You'll find it's easy and fun too.

I was inspired!
This book was recommended in our homeschool loop. I bought the book hoping for some ideas to get me started, always wanted to start but felt uncomfortable about just doing it. The book will end all your worries! I was very impressed by the books contents and how easy it was to get started. My 5 1/2 year old daughter and I have started with the very basics as part of our daily school lessons and I plan to add more as we progress. You do not have to be an artist to do this! This is your journal and you do what you want in it, nobody needs to see it unless you want to share it. It will make you become more observant to your surroundings and the way things are constantly changing. A great base for any homeschool program.

Go on. Be an explorer!
If you're into nature and you haven't lost touch with a child's wonder, you will enjoy Nature Journaling. A great book for families who like to wander together or for adults who want to reconnect with their natural surroundings.

What a Stunning Book!
I sat down and read it through completely, and was amazed at the knowledge, and well researched detail that you have presented. Notable, are the medical and technical knowledge together with the care and real concern for Parkinson's sufferers, which is shown by compassionate practitioners in many fields.

This has to be the definitive book on this subject, giving hope, support and the tools with which to live as creatively and with as much dignity as possible. I do not just wish you well with it's publication, but am lost in admiration!"

The Essential User-Friendly Resource Book
This resource book is an essential user-friendly compendium and tool-kit. By following the various practical strategies described patients with PD can be helped and encouraged to improve their quality of life, function as best as they are able, reduce symptoms and minimise the distressing side-effects of drugs.

Book with a Marked Advantage
This may not be as headline-grabbing or sensationalist as foetal grafts or human cloning, but has the advantage of markedly improving the lives of those with this unfrotunate illness.

Passage to Power: Natural Menopause Revolution

Essential
This book is essential reading for all women who want to take charge of their own health. It exposes the pharmaceutical hype, answers real questions without being over-simplistic, is extremely well researched and easy to read. A must!

Unfortunate Subtitle
This book is a must have guide for women in every age. The subtitle "Natural Menopause revolution" is not choosen well, as this book really is not only about menopause. It talks about PMT and other health issues women in different stages of their live have to deal with. A book I like to give to friends as a gift, which is always very much appreciated.

A necessary book for any woman
This is a book I found in the nick of time. Until encountering it, despite an extensive background in natural health, NO source available to me clarified the true relation of female hormones to bodily events. In one reading this volume accounted for the Hell I have gone through all my reproductive life, most of it induced by medical ignorance, arrogance or discounting.

Those are strong words, but they barely describe the violence done to women's bodies by standard medical management of their health care, contraception, and menopause problems, to say nothing of extraneous stresses in the environment. Kenton's book anatomizes all the reasons for this damage, describes how both lifestyle and even well-intentioned "health care" contributes to it, and describes approaches that no one in this nutrition-conscious age should find too difficult. The toughest row for most women to hoe will be standing off doctors who are pharmaceutically ignorant of the difference between conventional HRT and the natural-progesterone approaches Kenton outlines.

I am living proof that this is a book women need. I have had many of the hormone-related problems Kenton outlines, and perfectly answer the profile of a woman subject to estrogen dominance despite above-average health consciousness. I have had to fight off hysterectomy twice, but the problems that led to this threat have been in abeyance since I demanded natural progesterone treatment from my doctor--shortly before reading this book, on the advice of an RN friend. Finding this book helped me understand how and why something was FINALLY working, and what I could do to further help myself. If only I had had progesterone creams, and the knowledge in this book, available at the beginning of my gynecological purgatory instead of twenty years later! This is not information whose value is limited to women approaching menopause. The uncanny matches between my circumstances and Kenton's accounts of female chemistry make me suspect I could have avoided a world of hurt. I hope some other women can do so.

Quantum Mechanics: A Modern Development

wonderful treatment
This is a great book. Mathematically accurate and very precise. No bologne. I loved it. The only bummer is that it doesn't treat some experimentally useful topics (decay of states, e.g.) but it's a great book to learn from.

An excellent text
I am using this book as a supplimentary text for a 1st-year graduate course in quantum mechanics (the other text is Sakurai). I find the book extremely clear and well organized. In many ways, I like it more than Sakurai. For instance, many modern ideas are developed in detail - for instance Bell's inequality and related topics - but, as well, the more standard topics are also discussed thoroughly. Many references to original literature included. Good problems too.

One of the best
First of all, let me say that my review is based upon the first edition of this book. I haven't seen the 2nd edition, and 2nd editions aren't always better (e.g., Goldstein's 2nd edition is a disaster compared to his 1st). Now, for the review: There is only one other book which I consider to be as didactic as this one, which is Shankar's text. Shankar's book is more friendly and a better introduction to QM, but Ballentine's book is a bit more advanced and gives a lot of thought to

questions of interpretation which are seriously neglected in other books, while dealing with some advanced topics: the Wigner-Eckart theorem, BCS theory of superconductivity, etc. . . His presentations are lucid and to the point, and he is also careful to point out all sorts of common errors, which readers might have aquired from other books. Every idea is motivated before being introduced. Examples are provided throughout the text, and answers are given to selected exercises.

This book seems to me to truly teach, and is superior to Sakurai, Landau, Messiah and a host of others, which all have some major flaw or another. It's worth its price [...]

get in touch
although the theme here is obvious. the thing i liked best about this book was how it brought attention to the many overlooked things in life. a must read for outdoor enthusiasts

Don't leave home without it.
Read this book before, during and after any trip into the BWCA, or Quetico (or for that matter any trip into the wilderness). It will highten (enlighten) the experience.

Lure of Voyageurs
I first learned about Olson from a canoe instructer. On overnight camping trips he would often read a passage from Sigurd Olson to get us to reflect on the beauty of nature around us. Olson's work has a charisma that can not be found by any other writer. Reflections of The North Country was the first of Olson's books that I have had the privledge to read. I read the hardcover version, and found it to be food for the soal. In the hectic modern world that we live in today it is wonderful to learn from the wisdom of the ages, and get back to nature. Reflections is a compilation of beautifully writtin essays written by the late Sigurd Olson as he neared the end of his life. He looks back on the bygone era, and lure of the old French Canadian Voyageur, and describes many of his own voyages by canoe. I would recommend this book and others by Olson to anyone who loves the outdoors.

This should be a prerequisite for every person graduating college, or even high school. Guides readers through relating to one's self, and then to other people and God. Easy to read, easy to understand, and such a life-changing topic!

Exceptional book for anyone that is dating!
This is a book that everyone that is dating, planing to begin dating or will be getting back into dating, needs to read. The authors have a God given gift of writing the truth in a way that is not offensive. This book should be a requirement for any person that you want to date, and of course a requirement for you too!

A powerful and "True -to-the-Bone" read!!!
If Les and Leslie were put on this Earth to teach, mentor and impart relationship truths...they have done an excellent job with this book! I honestly felt as if they had been ease dropping on every relationship that I have had. I wished that i'd read this book a lot sooner... it would have saved me a lot of heartache, money, and time I spent making a fool of my self with broken relationships. Open this book and save yourself a lot of sleepless nights while looking forward to more meaningful relationships!

A Night Without Stars
This book is about a girl who becomes friend with a boy named donald. Donald was burned at a young age and has not been the most popluar persion in the world. Maria who is the girl becomes one of Donalds olny friends alothogh its sad it has so many lauhs a long the way. It deals with presure and over coming it Ipersionaly loved the book and would no dout read it again! "GOTTA LOTTA" baby all the way(u'll get it when you read it)

Things I have gone thourgh before
A night without stars sort of forshadows my life from the ages of 6 months old until I was 6 years old only my surguries were on my feet. The nervousness that Maria feels the night befor her surgury is the same that I felt. The fact that she is having open heart surjury is much more serious and frightening. Well I thought some parts in the begining were sort of confusing but thats me, everything is so confusing. A Night Without Stars was certainly one of my favorite books and I think that everyone should read it. Boys and girls. I mean who cares if the main character is a girl, boys should read it anyways. I thing this book should be a middle school, or high school requirment throughout the united States of America.

Brightened my night without stars
This book is among one of my Top 10 faves! It's even better than the Bunnicula books, especially since the characters are human. Maria was apprehensive about having heart surgery. Getting no information from doctors, friends,or family didn't help. She made new friends in the hospital. Although they told her to avoid a burn victim cruelly nicknamed Monster Man,she resisted peer pressure and befriended the boy. They both helped each other through their surgeries. Since I want to be a writer,Donald's poetry interested me. He coped with disaster the way many other ostracized teens would: by withdrawing and showing hostility. Only Maria cracked his tough shell of bitterness. The story behind this story(it's in the back of the book on the page about the author)is really touching. Enough waxing philosophical, now for the most important part: get this book. You won't regret it.
