Good News for all kids
This powerfully simple illustration teaches children to look at the positive and more importantly, look within themselves for "good news".
Our non-profit organization will be ordering 300 for our kids so that they can see that they are "good news" too!

This book is about GOOD news!
The first time I read this book, I was struck by the simple story line. A haircut for this little boy represents a major step towards growing up. The book effectively delivers that message that there is hope in every situation. I shared this book with my seven year old son, who also enjoyed the book. The pictures are almost surreal by transitioning from black and white photos in the beginning to a colorized version when the little boy's attitude changes. I would strongly recommend adding this book to any child's collection.

Becker's Endo
Quite good in reviewing the basic pathophysiology of endocrine disorders.
This book is becoming the standard for fellows in endocrinology.

Concise Endocrinology Textbook
This textbook is very user friendly. I prefer this text over the William's textbook of Endocrinology. Very well organized with many good illustrations and tables. Has appendix of endocrine testing as well as common drugs used in endocrinology. Highly reccomended.

Great explanation of what it means to be a Catholic!
I read this book several years ago and was amazed at how clearly I was identified as one who "claimed" to be Catholic but who really had no idea what a Catholic believes. This book helped to explain our faith in terms that made sense. Much has happened in my life since I first came across this book, and I am now truly "Proud to Be Catholic"!

For the average Catholis, it tells it all in simple terms,
A must for all to read who are wondering about the church. It explains all in very easy terms. Fr Ken has a style and a way that makes a difficult subject east to understand. You owe it to your self to read this. Especially those who have wondered off toother churches.

If it has to do with Irish art, simply ask Kenneth McConkey
Kenneth McConkey is one of the most impressive art academics in the world today. I am pleased to say that I have met Mr. McConkey and he is also one of the kindest, as well as the most knowledgeable gentlemen I have ever met.

A GREAT REVIEW OF A FINE IRISH ARTIST'S WORK AND LIFE
THIS EXCELLENT WORK ON IRISH ART AND ONE OF THE ARTISTS WHO CONTRIBUTED GREATLY IN ITS DEVELOPMENT AND DISTRIBUTION IS A WONDERFUL ADDITION TO ART HISTORY.

THE STORY TOLD IS EXPERTLY ILLUSTRATED WITH A COLLECTION OF PAINTINGS FROM SIR JOHN LAVERY'S LONG CAREER. THE PAINTINGS OF A WIDE RANGE OF SUBJECT MATTER INCLUDING NUMEROUS FAMILY MEMBERS AT VARIOUS STAGES OF THEIR LIVES ADDS A VERY PERSONAL TOUCH TO THE BOOK.

TRACING SIR JOHN LAVERY'S LIFE FROM IRELAND,SCOTLAND,ENGLAND, THE REST OF EUROPE,AFRICA,THE WORLD, AND MANY RETURNS TO NORTHERN IRELAND AND THE IRISH REPUBLIC MADE AN IMPRESSION OF A MAN WITH STRONG DEDICATION TO HIS WORK,HIS ENVIRONMENT AND HIS CULTURE.

HIS INVOLVEMENT WITH THE ARTS, POLITICS, FAMILY AND FRIENDS HAS BEEN CAPTURED IN A VERY DETAILED MANNER BY A FELLOW IRISHMAN KENNETH MCCONKEY.

THIS REVIEW IS SUBMITTED BY ANOTHER JOHN LAVERY (NOT A DIRECT DECENDENT OF SIR JOHN LAVERY ) WHO ENJOYED EVERY WORD, PAGE AND ILLUSTRATION.

Great supernatural fun for a dark and stormy night!
Wellman's weird short fiction can be found in an amazing number of horror anthologies, but most of his books are out of print. This is a shame, because Wellman's fiction deserves a much wider audiance. After I became interested in Wellman through his Silver John stories, I looked around for more of his work, but it was hard to find. Thankfully, Night Shade Books has remedied that. This first volume collects Wellman's John Thunstone and Lee Cobbett stories, which read like supernatural film noir--all of which I completely enjoyed. Wellman really knew how to tell a story; his writing flows with beautiful simplicity. If any of these stories seem a bit familiar, it's because they've influenced a lot of other writers over the last half century. As the publisher's description accurately states, these stories could easily be seen as a template for "The X-Files." A striking, full-page illustration accompanies each of the 21 tales in this volume. A genuine treat for horror enthusiasts.

A book that redefines what literature can do.
This book does not need a review. What a quality piece of work, distinguished especially by the deft editorial work of one John Pelan. Bravo!

CD ROM
I am looking for a cd rom of thisbook, may be you can tell me if this cd exists? if yes how can I get it?
best regards Dr` Roman Korobochka MD

obstetrics,high-risk,maternal-fetal medicine
As a woman who has had a history of difficult pregnancies (including unexplained fetal demises), Williams Obstretrics was indispensable to me in my search for the causes of my missed abortions (late miscarriages). Many doctors feel the less patients know from firsthand sources (such as this book), the better it is. But for me, Williams Obstretrics answered many questions not only regarding my losses but also in my uncomplicated pregnancies. OBGYNs don't need to be told about this book; they swear by it. I think their patients should too.

An Analytical Guide to Television's One Step Beyond
To anyone who grew up in the late 50's/early 60's, tv was an important part of their culture. One of the best shows concerning the supernatural (and perhaps the first in its genre) was "One Step Beyond". An Analytical Guide to Televisions One Step Beyond gives the backround information and Mr. Newlands own personal observations of the show. This was just a few months prior to his death. It is chock full of useful information to the researcher of early television as well as any fan of this genre. The author obviously loved this show and spent a great deal of time and effort on this and it shows. While it is a little expensive, it is indespensible to anyone who needs information and backround to this delightful series and well worth the money spent. Brian Kenaga

Almost like being there
Based on extensive excavations in the 1980s and 1990s, this is a vivid reconstruction of a medieval siege. More than that, it relates the special problems involved when siege warfare involves the digging of mines underneath castle walls in an attempt to bring them down. In this example, the Irish rebels sought (eventually with success) to undermine the castle walls while the English defenders dug numerous counter-mines in an attempt to stop the besieging miners. Wiggins demonstrates with photos, clear diagrams, and vivid text what the excavation record today tells us of these military methods of more than four centuries ago. We learn that even a siege of mere weeks, such as this one, usually cost many lives. He shows how military engineers relied on the available technology of the time (siege miners were often miners in real life and used the same techniques) as each side sought to bring the siege to a successful conclusion---naturally differing on what that meant!

When I last visited Ireland in 1990, none of this excavation work had been done. You could only see the outside walls of the castle by the river, and could not get inside. The work described here was done as part of a long process of clearing modern buildings to make the Limerick castle an educational tourist site. Based on this volume, I very much want to go back and see the remains of the siege mines and counter-mines which only rarely survive into modern times. After reading this interesting study, you will want to go see the site as well.

A lesson in zeal, bitterness and forgiveness
A young SDA minister with promise of being a premiere evangelist eventually turning on the very church he loves, finds God's love in the midst of his bitterness. This is the story of John Osborne. In this book we see how God led John from a rebellious youth to a minister of the gospel. Just when it appears that he is on the road to a successful ministry, he is derailed by long standing bitterness harbored against his bretheren and joins up with dissident organizations. It is only reading a small pamphlet left in his production trailer that he realizes his error and begins on the journey back home. For anyone who has suffered resentment or bitterness because of things that have happened to them in the church, I strongly encourage them to read John's story. As his heart was warmed by God's love, may yours be also.

For anyone contemplating our caught up in a divorce action
Written by professional marriage and family therapists Kenneth and Janice Dimick, Child Custody: Achieving A Parenting Partnership is a practical, helpful and straightforward guide written for the non-specialist general reader who is going through the difficulties of a divorce where there are children involved. The focus is upon the American legal divorce system and how the standard proceedings tend to leave mothers without sufficient funds and fathers without sufficient access to their children. Child Custody explores methods by which parenting partnership can be achieved, allowing a couple to work together to raise children even though they no longer live together. Child Custody is very highly recommended, essential reading for anyone contemplating our caught up in a divorce action with child custody issues and concerns.
