solution for the excercises
it is a very good book actually, but i'm having some difficulties in solving the exercise, so i think this book need a complementary book or some kind of manual or solution. But if there is, I would like to be informed about where i can get that kind of book. Thank U!

Advanced accounting
I used this book as my self-study material and I benefited from this book a lot. I would recommend using it either as a textbook for Advanced Accounting course or as a reference book for professionals. Here are the few points that I would like to share with you:

1.Logical order The order to display the topics in this book is logical and consistent. This is important for self-study users. At the beginning of each chapter, there's always a paragraph or two summarize the main points that are going to present in the chapter. This gives the reader a whole picture.

2. Clear explanation and examples The book uses easy explanatory languages and the examples are very representative. Each example, the author is showing us every detail steps, so it is easy to follow.

3.Relevant exercises and problems. At the end of each chapter, there are questions that can help to reinforce the concepts. Most questions can be found directly from the material. There are also exercises and problems that are related to the topic presented in the chapter. I remember there is an accounting book I used before that the problems required more knowledge than the chapter actually covered. This not the case in this book. Some of the examples in the chapter could be used as quick reference while working on the problems, too.

The only thing I would recommend, if I need to find some, is that I hope there could be more real life issues mentioned in the book. In this way, readers can relate the knowledge to daily life even closer.

An underwhelming book with a few redeaming features.
This is a book for those who want to be prepared but made the mistake of thinking this book would help. The author has a firm grasp of the obvious and of how to type, pounding the obvious into the readers head until they are effectively moot points. Their is little structure to the book. Information is presented in long paragraphs which ramble around the information until the reader gives up and moves on to the next paragraph. Clear thoughts and segues from one topic to the next are as endagered in this book as Snickers bar in a Systems Administrator's cubicle. While the author seems to know his subject the reader has to work at gleaning the useful from the long winded.

The four redeaming qualities are: 1. Most of the information you want is in there, somewhere. 2. The appendices. 3. The Self Test Software self test CD. 4. The plug of Amazon.com on page 166.

Great Book!
This book is great! It gave me all the insight I needed to get through the Microsoft Exams. Told all of the "tricks" necessary to pass these difficult exams! Two thumbs up!

Rather insipid pabulum: more Chicken Soup for Teen Leaders
Indeed, "Chicken Soup's" Jack Canfield has a promotional blurb on this book's front cover. Fans of his work & the "Teen Power" series might be delighted by this volume. I guess I'm not w/in that target audience. This volume is essentially an anthology w/ many "cutesy" mini-essays on various sub-aspects of learning about leadership. But I can't see it appealing to too many student leaders beyond those in Jr. High.

Lead Now - or Step Aside
Brilliant book for students in High School, it is an ideal workbook for teachers like me who want to give kids leadership skills. What I like best is it brought together the best of the speakers we have had in our schools -- The Kids Were Blown Away!

Interesting ideas, but marred by a sloppy presentation
This book, written by a professional trainer and a champion powerlifter, presents useful information about how to structure a strength-oriented workout program. Unfortunately, the book is marred by numerous typographical errors that make it difficult to follow and, at times, misleading. In short, this book cries out for the copyediting that it obviously never received. The book includes interesting information on diet (including recipes, tips for eating on the road and at fast food restaurants, and foods rich in various nutrients), nutritional supplements, stretching, exercise performance (although sometimes the advice is confusing), and exercise programs for specific sports. Thus, it might be a worthwhile purchase for those who can figure out what the authors MEANT to say when the typos make that difficult to discern. But for people new to weight training, or for the fastidious who don't want to guess at important information, it might be better to look elsewhere (at least until the authors bring out a new "corrected" edition.

I really enjoyed this book and I'm using the programs
I'm a personal trainer and I REALLY THINK THIS BOOK IS GREAT! I am using the information in my own personal routine, as well as my clients, with very successfull results. In my opinion, the book is easily read and comprehended... written simple enough to get even the most technical points across to most anyone. Bottom line... a great book based on covering all aspects of modern fitness training.

DO NOT BUY THIS!!!!!
I was required to read this book for a class, and I can say without a doubt that it is the worst book I've ever read. The author just keeps throwing out various names and babbles on and on about stuff that doesn't make any sense. Everyone in my class complained about how boring and hard to follow it was. I promise that you would have a better time reading an encyclopoedia - I only wish I could give it zero stars!

Informative
Informative, but very longwinded. He's managed to make an interesting subject very difficult to follow. Seems very conscious not to influence the readers judgement in any way, but the affect of this is ruined by the limited number of european sources available to him.
Its hard to follow the plot when you've not been allowed to get to know any of the characters.

An Engaging and Moving historical drama
The Kongolese Saint Anthony is one of the best books on a pre-colonial African heroine that I have read. In an engaging drama of spirutuality and politics, John Thornton invites us to look at Africa in a way that makes Africa a part of the unfloding history of Christianity. Anyone interested in both Africa and chruch history would do well to read this throroughly authentic biography of Dona Beatrice.

Just Like Marx's Kapital, just do a mad-libs...
Edited by William O. Einwechter and containing chapters by some of the Christian Right's most unstable extremists, Explicitly Christian Politics is nauseating. Attempting to deny what Christ said about his kingdom not being of this world, these devils would substitute Christ's heavenly kingdom for their own dictatorship.

The book's premise is straightforward: Jesus Christ is both Creator and King, and therefore all of life, both private and public, is subject to the author's interpretation. That is, the authors are pretending to be god. The implications of this should be obvious, but alas are not: today 1/2 of the U.S. Senate would sleep soundly at if the reigns of goverment were turned over to Pat Robertson- or, e.g., if John Ashcroft were to become attorney general.

Every ideology is inherently hubris, since it inevitably makes assumptions concerning creation and the nature of reality and the source and meaning of right and wrong.

Hopefully Americans will learn of the diabolical nature of these Reconstructionist theocrats before it's too late.

Explicitly Christian Politics Breaks New Ground
Edited by William O. Einwechter and containing chapters by some of the Christian Right's most distinguished thinkers, Explicitly Christian Politics is an impressive read. Attempting what is today unheard of -- an approach not only to political issues but also political theory that is rooted entirely in Christian thought -- it succeeds in making its case in a consistently scholarly fashion that is still light enough to entertain and to reach virtually any lay reader.

The book's premise is straightforward: Jesus Christ is both Creator and King, and therefore all of life, both private and public, is subject to His rule. The implications of this should be obvious, but alas are not: modern society becomes hysterical at the very thought of anything which might, in modern terms, "mix politics with religion." Of course this hysteria is nonsense. Every ideology is inherently religious, since it inevitably makes assumptions concerning creation and the nature of reality and the source and meaning of right and wrong. But the Christian religion and its trappings are out of vogue in this century, while the cults of the all-powerful state and the relativistic individual reign supreme, and it should surprise no one that the acolytes of the modern polytheism should seek to silence the ancient monotheism at every opportunity.

So just what are the implications of a consistently Christian political theory? Perhaps it is best first to understand what the implications are not. While the authors call for a Constitutional amendment recognizing Jesus Christ as Lord and as the Source of its life, liberty and law -- much the same as almost every other Western nation has -- they emphatically do not call for what moderns refer to as a "theocracy". "Theocracy," which is to say, rule by God, already exists: Christ's kingdom is "not of this world", and He rules the affairs of men no matter what they do or say. Rather, the authors believe a consistently Biblical social theory requires a separation of church and state, that the two institutions, along with the family, are ordained by God and meant to operate in very different spheres. They do not call for the submission of government to the church, or any earthly clergy: what they want is conformity of civil life, and indeed of civilization, to the teachings of Christ.

In practice, this means that the authors do not favor a change in the form of American government; they favor a change in its character and beliefs. It is an ideological and spiritual revolution they seek, not a revolution of the modern sort, and it is entirely based on principles familiar. The authors stake the claim of Jesus Christ's rights as King, but do not call for an Earthly king to rule in His stead; instead, they call for repentance and conversion on the part of those who do rule on Earth -- the electorate -- and for the election of leaders who will faithfully discharge their Constitutional duties not as faithful humanists or faithful Marxists but as faithful Christians.

And what does leadership as a faithful Christian mean, aside from not committing adultery, not breaking campaign promises, and not selling secrets to the Chinese? Well, actually, it means a change in worldviews, just as did the shift from the old order to New Deal statism in the 1930s. The authors take time to explore the Christian foundations of liberty in the modern world, noting correctly that of all the ideologies in history, only Christianity produced modern political and economic freedom. They detail the depravity which results (and which has resulted) from an abandonment of absolute right and wrong, and show why no adequate legal standard -- and certainly no truly free one -- can be built apart from the standard of Scripture. They trace the free market's roots in Biblical law and show why government must be both very small and very unintrusive. They offer a completely new paradigm for education, and call for reason over "sentimentalism." In short, they address, and address well, most of the vital issues of the day.

One cannot come away from Explicitly Christian Politics without a deepened realization of the religious nature of the "isms" of our time and the abysmally bad politics that flows from them; likewise, one cannot read this volume without an appreciation for the fact that these Christians have devised a better model. Quibble with the details all you like: Explicitly Christian Politics is nothing short of the rebirth of a vital Christian social theory, far beyond the "me-too" pluralism of the Christian Right to date. There's something special here. it is very clearly not going away.

POOR BOOK
My niece saw this book here in Amazon, had her heart set on it.
but never really looked over the accompanying info.

In my opinion, the publisher has committed a travesty. this book has only 28 readable pages including the table of contents.
It has 6 black and white photos, and the print is all large
print. any "big star" to allow such a book to be sold for this
price is pathetic. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS BOOK!!!!

Never Knew
I never knew how talented this guy was until I read this book. It is chock fullof information and a great read for kids who have an interest in the business or just in Anthony. I'd like to read and see more books like this!

flawed
given what i know of john ralston saul and the blurb on the back, i expected much better from this book. decrying corporatism, positing it as a new ruling morality, is genuinely interesting, but i don't think this is an interesting way of presenting it. the story-line is conventional, the female characters stock and tiresome, and the morality tale unambiguous and predictable. this book reminded me of nothing so much as of an ayn rand polemic, harsh words to be sure. while coming at a world view from a diametrically opposite perspective, the writing is similar in its uninterestingness. like the idea, don't like the realization of same.

Belton Estate- Heir or Error Apparent?
This novel of Trollope's poses his usual question: will the middle class heroine find true love in spite of various social/emotional conflicts? In this case his poverty-stricken heroine has two suiters and must decide between the one she loves and the one who loves her. The dilemma is a tricky one since the man she loves has culture and wealth and breeding but no strong feelings for her; while the rougher and uncultured man who loves her is truly devoted to her. Trollope has written better paced novels but this one does hold the reader until the solution is reached.

The industry would collapse if all men read this book
Hey fellas, how would you feel if you knew that hot phone-sex operator you wasted $40 on last night was really a GUY? This memoir of life in the highly profitable adult entertainment industry can be funny, but overall it is very disturbing to read about all the horrible things callers make the "girls" say and do. Lots of mysogyny, horrible cursing, sadistic and pedophilic fantasies...but I guess it's better these losers pay some girl (or guy) to take their abuse over the phone than inflict it upon their loved ones or strangers. A very surreal read, not for the faint of heart.
