Detailed description of pathogenesis
The book is written in detail. If you are interested to be a microbiologist, you must buy this book. But the content is too much for other medical students, and is not useful clinically. Nevertheless, this book is interesting.

A good overview of the changing face of the Am. Presidency
I have this book as a text for a political science class I'm taking at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Though a bit pricey at $40, I truly find this a solid read. It should be appropriate for all levels of reader, though it seems to be geared towards those with at least basic knowledge of the American political system.

The private feast lists of ancient Egypt
Published in Unknown Binding by Harrassowitz Verlag ()
Author: Anthony John Spalinger
Amazon base price: $
Average review score:

discusses an interesting subject
The book is a survey covering the Egyptian feast lists from the Old Kingdom to the Saite epoch. After a brief, easy-to-understand introduction of feast names, the author describes in five chapters those found from the Middle Kingdom, New Kingdom, Post-Imperial Era (lasting from the Third Intermediate Period to the Saite Period), from the First Intermediate Period to the Middle Kingdom, and finally the Old Kingdom. Recommended, it is an interesting and comprehensive book dealing with a subject rarely touched upon.

Great Intro (but overly focused on Pentecostal churches)
I bought this book at a recent Promise Keepers rally, and it's a great introduction to racial reconciliation. It gives a solid overview of the black experience in evangelical and Pentecostal denominations, and helps whites and blacks understand the barriers that need to be transcended for vital, biracial congregations.

I was a little disappointed, however, that the book focuses too much on Pentecostal denominations. In fact, all the ministers interviewed for this book were from churches like the AOG and COGIC. Very little attention is paid to Roman Catholicism, which itself has a very checkered history in regard to race relations in America, and the abolitionist activities of most mainstream Baptists are mentioned once before the once-aberrant views of the SBC on race relations become the focus of discussion as far as Baptists are concerned. (Except for the aberration of the SBC, the Baptists have an almost unparalleled history of excellent race relations, and credit should be given where credit is due. I personally think that the SBC should have disbanded and re-constituted itself as a new organization to erase the pro-slavery stain that the SBC inflicted on the Baptist name.) I was a little turned off by the excessive focus on churches like the AOG, COG, and COGIC, since I don't feel these groups are very representative of the mainstream of American evangelicalism and Christianity in general. But despite the somewhat unrepresentative sample of denominations, the suggestions in the book are easily applicable to any denominational church, and it's well worth reading.

fine short novel
Written in 1870, when Trollope was at the height of his powers, Sir Harry Hotspur is a moving story of greed, courtship, and conflicting emotions. The story is simple. Harry Hotspur is immensely wealthy. He has lost his son, leaving him with just a daughter for as heir to his fortune. His daughter loves a low life cousin who wants her money. The financial troubles of the cousin, and the emotional conflict between father and daughter create the drama of this fine short novel.

Brought back memories
I went to school in Socorro and this book brought back a lot of memories. It also gave me a lot of background information about the town and the buildings. (Thanks for confirming the "rumour" that no opera has ever been held in the Garcia Opera House.)

I'm not sure that the book would appeal to an audience that is not already familiar with the Socorro (or at least the New Mexico) area, but for those of us who are -- I recommend the book.

I was also a little disappointed to find that the last half of the book was nothing but a copy of the legislative request to designate certain areas historic. That is important information, but I don't think anyone is really interested in reading the entire legal document.
