Excellent!
This book is perhaps the best modern introduction to the Bhagavad Gita. "It is a book to be read again and again, at various stages of life's path, for once you truly comprehend the material presented, you are well on your way to understanding the meaning of life!"

Great translation of a great book!
I had the honor of being Mr. de Nicolas' student in St. Augustine, FL. His translation of the Gita is perhaps the clearest, most human translation I have read. The focus is on the _doing_, the epistemology of action, instead of the words that so often get in the way. If you are looking for a meaningful, comprehensible, translation done by someone who is intimate with the philosophy and the language, look no further.

Excellent Resource
I would highly recommend for readers from 9 to 99. Gives short synposis on all types of ocean facts and trivia; from where the deepest point of the ocean is on earth and HOW they measure it, to describing various types of jellyfish. Is jam packed with relevant and fun facts written in a style that ANYONE can easily understand and absorbe. Each topic(ex.seals)in discussed in one to two pages and gives you the relevant & fun facts without going into to much "scientific" detail and includes wonderful photographs. I have enjoyed this book so much, I am in the process of purchasing the whole series of Time Life Student Library of books. These books are books for students of life!

Colorful, exciting and informative. NEAT!
This is such a neat book. 2 mobiles are included for you to punch out and hang in your house. All of the animals on the mobiles are explained in the book so you will know what they all are and how they live. Colorful, exciting, and informative.

An outstanding overview of philosophy.
This book is an excellent overview of philosophy. The writing is of the highest standard: each essay is written with clarity and grace. Moreover, the entries contain cross-references to other entries, where appropriate, and ends with suggestions for further reading. Moreover, there is a glossary at the end of the book, which novices should find particularly useful. Highly recommended--a required addition to every philosophy collection

A really helpful "friend"(companion) to philosophy students.
Being taught by E.P. James-Tsui, one of the editors, the book has been recommended to me during my freshman year. Yet I've found that it has been really helpful until my final year studies now! It is the chapter on "Contemporary Continental Philosophy" that inspires and motivates me to decide to write a thesis on philosophy of science. Up to now this book has never been useless to me. Buy it! Read it! And sleep with it, as I do every night!

The best "introduction to shamanism" book I have read
I have been actively involved in shamanism for the past 10 years and am constantly on the look-out for books that provide enough flavor and texture to give someone unfamiliar with the practice a good overview of the topic.

Of the over 50 books I have reviewed, this is the best.

"The Book of the Shaman" is well organized, colorful, inviting and does a terrific job at touching on the breadth of the shamanic experience. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I have.

A Fantastic Introduction into the ways of the Shaman!!!
This book is not only a fascinating read, but is filled with exceptional photos throughout. It takes you on a journey which explains the ancient rituals of various shamans of the world, while explaining the reasons and uses for these rituals. It takes you through the "how to" in step by step detail, along with photos which are a great enhancement to the text. Beautifully written and presented - a real keeper for any Spiritual library.

Teaches Value of Thinking of others
What a great book. Read to my two boys age 4 and 6 and they were engrossed in this story of the boy Nicholas who's good deeds for others led to him becoming St Nicholas (Santa Claus). The holidays are a great time to teach kids about thinking of and giving to others and this book offers a great platform for doing just that.

"The Boy With A Wish"
"This is the first in a series of the "Nicholes Stories" childrens books. It is a tale about a boy named Nicholas, whose simple gift of love is seen by Angels, and his wish is a lasting reward that effects the world forever." These books will become cherished family traditions for the holidays.
"The Nicholas Stories have been designed to provide inspiration to young and old and is designed in content for all people of the world."
This book and the others that follow bridge the gap between the true meaning of Christmas and Saint Nicholas while reminding us all to live life with compassion, honesty and belief. I adored them and can't wait to read them to my grandchildren!!

Snakes! (Know It Alls) by Christopher Nicholas
The Know-It-Alls series of books by Christopher Nicholas and Mike Maydak are wonderful tools that we use in our second grade classrooms. They are well written with many useful facts and are on a level that can be easily understood by children. The synopsis at the end of each part of the book is great for helping the students research a particular topic. We have used the snake books, spider books and have now ordered butterflies and bugs. We can't wait to receive them. Thanks!

crawling critters
This book is a very informative. My son is only 3 1/2 years old and can tell you things about bugs that some adults don't even know. The books layout of pictures and short descriptions make it easy for a young child to understand and learn. The whole line of these books I would suggest for young children interested in science.

A Great Story for Children
Chelonia: Return of the Sea Turtle is a valuable educational tool for children and a great read. I have been giving talks to kids in San Diego about sea turtles and Chelonia is a great way to wrap up my talks. Kids of all ages absolutely love this story of the rescue of an endangered sea turtle.

If your children love the ocean and marine animals then you should get this beautiful story.

"Sea Log" sidebars provide educative informational asides
The beautifully drawn children's picturebook Chelonia: Return Of The Sea Turtle is the very highly recommended and collaborative work of Dawn E. Navarro, Robert E. Snodgrass, and Wallace J. Nichols. Based upon a true story, the exciting and informative text is enhanced with accurate illustrations of the birds, sea mammals, fish, crustaceans, and vegetation associated with the sea and form the habitat and world of the sea turtle. a series of "Sea Log" sidebars provide educative informational asides that are a perfect augmentation to the lively and engaging story of a little girl who rescues a sea turtle and eventually returns it to the sea.

Amazing Book
I read this book in the book store, I couldn't put it down and bought it right after with tears still in my eyes. Thomas Kinkade is an extremely talented illustrator and the story is amazing. I read it in church as the message one week, it is just terrific!

A Christmas Blessing
I have been collecting and reading Christmas books with my children for over ten years, and this is one of our Top Ten! A warm and thoughtful story, with glorious illustrations. This book is an absolute 'must have' for your library and is a perfect gift!

Amazing Show!
This is an amazing show. Everyone can hum "One" but who can recite Paul's heartbreaking monologue? The script to this show was one of Broadway's first to be frankly honest about all aspects of life, and this really shows in reading it. It is an absolute joy to read. Totally reccommended!

Good but not worth the price!
C'mon! A chorus Line is THE best musical ever written! Now you can have the chance to own a wonderfully published script to this amazing music. I also suggest buying the cd to the musical to go with the script. It's just a pity that this script can not encapsulate the performances of the original cast as well. But I guess you can't have your cake and eat it too. But you can buy this script... and for a severely discounted price!...Congratulations. Jump at this deal immediately.

Transparent and Balanced Research
This study is likely to remain the last word on class action research for some time to come. The depth and breadth of this study is extraordinary - and so are its revelations.

This is by any standard a major piece of work and we are fortunate that the RAND Institute for Civil Justice has the resources to publish it so fully. The substantial appendices contain much of the detail about methodologies, data collection and calculations that usually have to be omitted from law review articles. Readers can judge for themselves the thoroughness of the researchers and the accuracy of calculations supporting many of their assertions and assumptions.

At heart of this study is the question whether the policing of the public interst and public safety ought to be a function of the state or of "private attorneys general". The study is largely non-judgmental - although you may conclude that this research suggests an answer. There is plenty of ammunition for both points of view to be found in this book.

It is a treasury of fascinating facts about this kind of litigation. It includes the revelation that some attorneys were remunerated at the rate of $2,000 per hour for their efforts - and to think that we thought only mergers and acquisitions lawyers could aspire to that kind of reward!

The only criticism I have to make is that the executive summary that RAND publishes separately is not contained in the book. That is a useful document and its inclusion here would not have added substantially to publication costs but would have enhanced the final product.

An indepth, benchmark study.
Class Action Dilemmas: Pursuing Public Goals For Private Gain is the collaborative effort of Deborah R. Hensler, Nicholas, M. Pace, Bonita Dombey-Moore, Beth Giddens, Jennifer Gross, and Erik K. Moller under the auspices of the Rand Corporation's "Institute for Civil Justice". This in-depth, benchmark study examines newly compiled information about class action law suits and offers a thoughtful discussion of current trends in mass litigation and their implications for the future. Data was collected from extensive interviews with case participants, various electronic sources, court records, and other legal documents. Commentary on the federal class action rule is also reviewed along with the most recent attempt to revise the rule. The contributors discuss the history of the controversy of class action law suits, and present ten illustrative case studies. In addition, proposals for options for reform that may improve the balance of public good and private gain are offered for consideration. Class Action Dilemmas is a very highly recommended addition to professional, governmental, academic, and judicial reference libraries.
