Volume Six Is The Best Of Them All
This volume is the most important and pivotal of all of the Legion Archives books. Amazon.com has mixed up the reviews since this title has gone in and out of print. Nonetheless, volume 6 DOES contain the great booklength Jim Shooter stories. The Fatal Five and Sun Eater are introduced, Ferro Lad perishes heroically, and the Adult Legion stories (which upset continuity for decades) were published. Shooter gives the Legion great characterization and makes the heroes much more than just powers and costumes. Curt Swan's art is beautiful. The art is so wonderful that I feel that his artwork gaves us the definitive Legion. This is the highwater mark of the series and Volume 6 is the most essential of all of the Legion Archives.

Their Most Important Stories Of All!
The Legion's most pivotal stories laying the groundwork for continuity of the next three decades. With this volume, you get the Fatal Five, Sun Eater, and Adult Legion stories. Great Jim Shooter writing and beautiful Curt Swan artwork, the definitive Legion of Super-Heroes. If you have to get just one volume out of the series, this is the one.

Humorous and Informative
I recently purchased Minimum Impact Camping because it had some "what to bring camping" lists that I wanted. But I didn't realize until I purchased it what a fun book it is to read. The authors blend a lot of camping, hiking, and canoeing information around humorous antecdotes.

Very fresh, very useful
This is a hidden gem. I can't recall reading many camping books that are capable of making you laugh , but this is one of them. Also a very timely and important subject, with hordes of people overrunning our national parks and contributing to the destruction of wild America. Buy it, read it, treasure it - and follow its teachings!

Short concise excellent Singer
These stories were originally published ,in serial form, in the Jewish daily Foward. They are short almost precise stories of IB singers youth in Warsaw and his Fathers "court',the BETH DIN, a combination court, synagogue ,advice for the lovelorn, place of talmudic debate, etc. The stories, vignettes drawn from memory, tell these so well. None of these stories are in the collected stories,so it makes the purchase of these 2 volumes essential{the other is IN MY FATHERS COURT]. From Old widows wanting to remarry, to overly pious mates, to pseudo-intellectual rabbis trying to show off their'learning".,I.B. Singer has left us a record of a vanished civilization, in a place and time less then 70 years ago.Essential stories from the gratest short story writer of our time.

more stories from a master
These are vignettes, really, scenes remembered from Singer's youth when he served as a messenger errand-boy for his father who conducted a beth din in Warsaw. Although often ambiguous and seemingly inconclusive, they are the works of a master who can effortlessly create a powerful scene in only four or five pages. He avoids all the popular flaws of the short-story genre. There is not a trace of vanity or judgment in his narratives. He is the perfect short story writer.

A Must for Every Baseball Fan's Library
How fortunate I was to grow up during the 1950's and be old enough to remember most of these announcers as they painted pictures for us through the medium of radio. Curt Smith does a superb job of bringing these names back to us. Dizzy Dean and Bud Blattner and later Pee Wee Reese, Harry Caray and Jack Buck, Bob Prince, Byrum Saam, Jack Brickhouse, Vin Scully, Ray Scott along with Herb Carneal and Halsey Hall, Earl Gillespie, Ernie Harwell, and, of course, Red Barber and Mel Allen along with many others are chronicled here in this historical book on the voices that brought the National Pastime alive via the medium of radio and later television. If you are not familiar with many of the names listed above, be good to yourself and educate yourself. The many men in this book made it possible for the fan to be able to say like singer Terry Cashman, "I saw it on the radio." I found this book to be a must to include in any baseball fan's library.

There aren't enough superlatives to describe this book!
I grew up listening to some of the greatest voices in baseball, Ernie Harwell, George Kell, Harry Caray. To me, the voices who described the games were almost as important as the game itself. They brought the game to life, taught it, and shared the game with us. Finally, from the skilled pen of Curt Smith there is a book that tells us the history of baseball broadcasting, giving us insight into the personalities involved. It's a great book! Every baseball fan should have a copy!

Wonderful Review of Internet Research Nuts & Bolts
This book is a wonderful continuation of the "Conducting Internet Research" book. It examines the nuances of Internet research, search engines, subject trees, and specialized databases (such as white pages, yellow pages, mailing list databases, and newgroup databases).

I strongly recommend this book to any employee, executive, student, academic faculty, or even housewife who is tired of "hot lists" and simply wants the bare essentials of Internet research, including how to master commercial search engines, meta search engines, mult search engine interfaces, and more!

A most enjoyable book
As a Vietnam vet I have read many books on the war to try and understand my part in it. The Advisors is one of the first fiction accounts of the war I have read. I loved it. It was most enjoyable to read and is almost the catch 22 of the Vietnam war. The author had to at least have been in Vietnam and maybe in MACV as well. The pettyness of the rear area officers and troops and the hardships of the field troops is all in this book. The growth of character an individual gains with repeated stress and the desensitzation it produces as well as the emotions that occur are expressed very well. In addition much of it is done with humor and honesty. While it is difficult to express the hardships and catastrophic events of war in a fashion that that doesn't gross you out, Mr Rich has done an excellent job. The only problem I have is that I can't find another book written by him.

The Agunah by Chaim Grade
This is a Jewish novel written by Chaim Grade in Yiddish. There are English translations. This novel is set in Vilna, the Jerusalem of Lithuania. It is a fictional work about the Orthodox Jews in Eastern Europe. This particular novel, The Agunah, is about a widow who is forbidden to marry because her husband's body was never recovered nor did anyone ever witness his death during wartime. This is a problem for the protagonist, Merl, because she cannot remarry under Jewish law without the permission of a rabbi and there is no rabbi who could give her permission because there is no witness to her husband's death. Many other conflicts unfold as the novel persists. The entire town becomes involved in one way or another. There are two men fighting for her love and for her to marry them. Who will it be? Can she even remarry? You must read to find out. But you will learn more from this novel than those answers. You will learn how the Orthodox Jews live and a little about their customs. It is an educational experience entagled with a great story! I truly loved this novel and believe that it is one of the greatest works of fiction I have ever read!

I urge you to read this book.
The author addresses critical concerns about cloning human beings. The messages contained thoughout the book are said to be from spiritual beings, which, for me, makes the messages even more compelling. I highly recommend this book for all readers, whether or not you believe the messages are indeed from angels.
