Chasing Tiger
Published in Digital by Atria Books ()
Author: Curt Sampson
Amazon base price: $14.99
Average review score:

Wait for the paperback -- if at all.
I have enjoyed Sampson's writing in the past, but this book disappointed. As advertised, it really is a book about the chasing of Tiger Woods -- by competitors, fans and media. One can enjoy the "behind the scenes" looks at the tour, and if you are interested in Charles Howell III, you will get a bunch of info here. I felt the book headed off in too many directions, the metaphors were WAY overblown, and the lack of focus was frustrating. If you are interested in the peripheral insights to be gained, or simply love Sampson -- wait for the paperback!

Tiger as a Seismic Event
Beyond the aggrandizing sports articles and simplistic examinations of Tiger's stroke or sheer ability lies the story of his effect on the PGA.
Woods has changed golf the same way an eathquake can change a small, extraordinarily inclusive, community.
The landscape is different. Familar direction markers no longer exist and are replaced by new totems of accomplishment and mountains of greatness.
Instead of toeing the party line of Tiger's perfection Sampson examines Tiger's effect on the PGA community.
Anyone curious about the innerworkings of the PGA, with all its glory, success, and abject drudgery, should READ THIS BOOK.
Anyone interested in Tiger Woods and his permanent effect on golf SHOULD READ THIS BOOK.
This book tells you what he has done to the game and how the playing field has changed for every single player who picks up a club.

A Great Read!
I read this book straight through! "Chasing Tiger" is not yet another Tiger Woods biography, but an inside look at Tiger Woods through the eyes of other professional golfers, groupies, media people, caddies, etc..Curt Samspon tells a truthful, and sometimes shocking, account of what it's like to be on the tour with Tiger. This is a great book, not just for golf fans, but for anyone who is interested in more than what they read on the sports page. Curt Sampson has great style, and you should read this book.

Poor, Bland, Uninteresting Overview
Unless you are studying for the AP American Government Test, then don't buy this book. This book should soley be used for a quick overview before the test, since the material is condensed and boring. If you are taking the AP test, don't be intimidated by the sample essays in the book. The essay questions on the test are much simpler.

Don't buy this book!
The biggest complaint that I have with this book is that the answers explained are horrible. They are either useless or only confuse you more. I would highly recommend you to buy the REA(Research & Education Association) Review Book. It also has two tests but the answers explained section is quite helpful, not only telling you why an answer is right, but why each wrong answer is wrong. I have also found the test questions to be much more difficult and confusing in this book than any review book I got and from the actual exam that I just took. I am rather sorry that I wasted my money on this book and urge you not to do so as well.

Pretty Good Review Book
For AP Government the Barrons book provided a good review for my students. Although I wish they would include more than 2 practice tests, the topics were well covered. It hit almost all the needed key court cases. I would reccomend this book for any student who wants to pass the exam.

Dodge Ram 50/D-50 Pick-Ups & Raider 1979 thru 1993
The book lacks detail and is not user-friendly. The information for torque specifications is located in the beginning of the chapter rather than in the location of the repair being made. Having the information set up this way is very frustrating because you have to back track to get the information which is a waste of time. I also found a mistake in a wiring diagram for the ECU.

Not really good, but about the only thing available.
The book is laid out in a confusing manner in many ways, and it is difficult to be certain that the section you're looking at actually pertains to your vehicle year/engine. It has good information, but it will take you time to find it. Part of the problem is that it tries to cover too many years and vairations.

i didnt get to see the book can you send me the information
i need to find something about fixing transmichians on a dodge 1987 d-50 pick up truck

Some useful information, but mostly a long ad for Adobe.
Beware those Adobe-endorsed books. While there are some useful examples herein, most of this is just one long diatribe on the virtues of Adobe and their pivotal place in developing web content. If you're looking to this book to discover how to publish for the web, there are precious few really useful pointers. While the Adobe Classroom in a Book series is instructive, their other titles are of very limitted usefulness (and often very expensive). This book is no exception. Lacks any real discussion of the intricacies of web design. Say nay. Docked a notch for being so expensive.

Packed with Adobe Goodness
It's true, this book focuses exclusively on Adobe software, but it IS called Adobe Web Design & Publishing. The warning is right there in the title. That said, it's a tome of useful tips on using Adobe software to create professional quality web sites and graphics. If you use Adobe software to create web sites, consider buying this book. One caveat: Adobe Web Design & Publishing does not cover Adobe's latest and greatest web site design software, Go Live. Hopefully the next version will.

not so good for evo sportys
Whilst this book would be very good for 1970-1985 model sporsters it has not much useful information on belt drive evo sportsers eg. no information on belt tention or even how to drain the oil tank.

Must have book for all backyard harley mechanics.
Breaks down each job you have questions about. Shows you pictures that help with the written steps on how to do it yourself.

Good overview, but dated
This book is a skillfully written and well illustrated overview of the paint and body techniques of the late 1980s. You are better off looking at this one at the library and buying an up-to-date book.

Some information out-of-date
As are all Haynes Manuals this book is an excellent source of information for do-it-yourselfers. Problem is they need to update the book. When I asked for some of the "new" paint products at a body shop they told me I would need to go to a museum.

Not very clear - 51 year old reader
This book has a lot of information, but it lacks examples on how to use this information. I used it in conjunction with another clearer book. It's probably a good book for someone who has a grasp at how html works, but it's confusing for someone completely new to html.

A good book with a few minor flaws
The book is a good solid reference to HTML 4.0, and includes some software on an associated CD. On my version of the CD one of the packages was corrupted, but I suspect that will have been fixed by now. The CD contains sample shareware programs and examples from the books. In common with many book/CD combinations only one or two of the shareware programs may be of use to a particular person, but having the book's examples on the CD is always useful. The book itself contains one or two errors that I found, but these minor flaws are outweighed by the immense amount of information in it. I'd recommend it to anyone with a little knowledge of HTML as a reference.

Los Angeles Survival Guide (City Survival Guides)
Published in Paperback by Arkobaleno Pr (1992)

Average review score:

A disappointment.
I was disappointed with this book. It sounded indispensible from the description, but it actually contained little information that was of use to me. Also, it was published in 1992, so is rather out of date. It is short, over-simplified and focuses more on relocating in general than moving to LA. Maybe it would be useful for a young person who is leaving home for the first time, but I really can't imagine that "for people who live and work in Los Angeles, this is the "insider's" manual with the answers to the city's unique problems," as stated on the back cover. I sent this book back.

Cuts through the BS
There is so much info on Los Angeles, this book cuts right to the point. I just graduated college and moved from Chicago and this book really helped prioritize what I needed. If you want a tourbook, this isn't the book for you. But if you are moving, this is an excellent starting point.

Not much help when it comes to exam 70-215
This is a good intro to Windows 2000 but is very bad as a Windows 2000 server study guide for exam 70-215. Has nothing about Active DIR. Nothing about Policies, not enough about Org policies. I would NOT advise anyone who wants to pass this test to use this book.

Rehash of Dummies 70-210
I had great luck with the "Dummies" book for exam 70-210, but this was a disappointment. Coverage of DNS and DHCP was marginal and IP section ommited some important subnetting instruction, i.e. describing subnet masking. I used the Self Test Software exam simulation (which was fairly accurate) and it had ip issues in it that weren't covered in the book. The 70-210 "Dummies" book gave a good background which helped. I got 800 on the 210 test and 700 on the 215 with the same studying.

A good place to start but not a 1-stop shop
I found this book to be a very good place to start but DON'T rely on this book alone to get you through the exam! There are several areas (e.g. Active Directory & Subnetting) that were not covered in the book yet these appear on the exam and others that are not covered in anything like enough detail. Also, while the test questions on the CD are a good way of checking your knowledge of the topics covered in the book they don't really prepare you for the questions you will meet on the exam. For this, I recommend using 3rd party (e.g. selftestsoftware etc.).

No secrets
Just standard mumbo jumbo. Extremely elementary. The only secret is that it has none.

Overall, it's good
This book provides a lot info on Windows XP - more out of the way kinds of things than you might find in other books. I used the Windows Me Secrets book, and frankly, though it was fully of a lot of junk. This book is very focused and I've found everything in it useful. Lots of good info on 3rd utilites. I do wish it had a CD, but I think it was worth the asking price

This Secret worked for me!
I haven't been using Secrets books (or a computer for that matter) since Windows 3.x, so I don't have a frame of reference for this new Secrets book like some of the other reviewers.

All I can say is if you are a moderately good computer user and want to find out a bunch of cool and (sometimes) weird things about XP, this book is great. It covers system items well and points out configuration things you might not notice on your own.
