A Master analyst!
Anyone who has read anything else by Marie-Louise von Franz knows what to expect from one of her books - erudition, encyclopedic knowledge and plenty of down to earth clinical advice. The spirit of Jung breathes out of every single page and can't help but capture and hold your attention.

A very well written and insightful collection of essays
I find this collection of essays by Jungian analyst and professor of theology Ann Ulanov to be a very important and valuble study in the intersection of depth psychology and religion. What makes her work intriguing is that Ann Ulanov does not collapse spirituality in psychological categories like do many Jungian commentaries on religion. The reality of the unconscious and the ultimate mystery of the transcendent are held in tension, each influencing the other, a delicate and beautiful ballet.

Gorgeous book!! Not just for kids.
This is a beautiful book. It is geared toward older children, but the presentation and photo quality will make any adult take a second look. Klimt's work is often characterized by the use of gold leaf -- this book actually prints the paintings so that they have a gold surface. Each page discusses an aspect of Klimt's life or work-- his relationship with Emile Floge, his travels to Italy, his Beethoven Frieze, etc. The background of each page is beautifully decorated to correspond with the information and photographs.

I have several other books of Klimt's work-- this one has the best overview of his life and work, best reproductions, and by far my favorite in terms of how it presented the information. It is only 30 pages, but is truly a gem of a book.

If you are interested in art history or art in general, I also recommend the other Adventures in Art books, particulary the one on Van Gogh. The presentation is very similar to the Klimt book.

Symphony No. 2 in C Minor
Published in Hardcover by Faber & Faber (1987)
Author: Gustav Mahler
Amazon base price: $150.00
Average review score:

Wonderful edition of a legendary piece!
Gustav Mahler is one of the last truely great symphony writers. His orchestrations are vast and his use of tone shows his true mastery of composition. This edition is the perfect book for any music lover, especially Mahler fans. It is small enough to slip easily into a purse or jacket pocket for use in the concert hall or in a bookbag or backpack for school. It is ideal for the professional conductor and compsoer as well as the music fan who wishes to own a written copy of the greatest symphony ever written. Also, its wide margins are perfect for note taking or analysis. This is truely the perfect score for the music lover. I own about 5 and plan on adding to my collection very shortly. Other great Dover items include the miniature scores for Beethoven's 5th and 9th symphonies, which are among the standard literature for every major orchestra worldwide, and the miniature score of Mozart's powerful Requiem Mass in D minor.

An extraordinary symphony, right before your eyes
Mahler's 9th is one of the most incredible symphonies ever written. It is an immensely complex and detailed score, one that is difficult if not impossible to appreciate without the aid of a score. It also allows the reader to see the inner workings of Mahler's compositional genius, combining motives in the most subtle of ways.

Thorsons Principles of Jungian Spirituality (Thorsons Principles Series)

Superb introduction to a complex subject
This is a fine introduction to the most important Jungian ideas of spirituality. Jung was responsible for developing many aspects of psychology which we take for granted today, and his personal researches extended into the religions and beliefs of both East and West. A great author but a poor communicator, his works are not easy for newcomers to the subject so this book, which presents all the basics in a really clear and enjoyable way, is a great find for someone who is keen to learn more about mind, body and spirit but would be daunted by a dry, intellectual treatise. Highly recommended.
