Chilling, confrontational and exposing of the geomentallity.
This geomentally challenging journey into pure estivation is so abstractually written, it cries of the Socratic method. This read promises a ravenous hunger for more.

I love this book!
Aside from the fact a reader will gain new appreciation for the Larssons and their art, a reason to purchase this book is that it is gorgeous. Good paper, excellent color reproductions, a nice heft. If you admire Larsson and Scandinavian culture, this book is a "must have."

This book makes me happy.
I ordered this book sight-unseen as a gift, and thought "well, I like Carl Larsson's paintings, I'll get one for myself while I'm at it." I'm so glad I did! I realize that, before reading this delicious book, I had never really "seen" a Carl Larsson painting before. I didn't know that all those happy Swedish ninteenth-century domestic watercolor scenes actually documented Larsson's home and family, and I had no idea that his wife Karin was the creator of the fabrics, co-creator of the furniture and equal partner in what is not only a beautiful and original home environment, but one that has influenced interior design to this day, a hundred year later.

The text is written by different experts. I am not really sure that I come away from it with much sense of the Larssons' personalities in a detailed way, but the work speaks for itself and I consider this book to be more than just a valuable addition to my art library, but also as a great read and, even more -- a great "look".

Chosu on Choshu!
If you want to understand how Japan catapulted from being a nation of feudal swordsman to being a a world power that beat the stuffing out of Russia in just 50 years... then you need to study the Meiji Restoration. If you want to understand the Meiji Restoration... then you need to study a bit about Choshu, the fuedal principality that was most responsible for making it all happen. Craig's magisterial study is still the monograph on the subject, even today.

Choshu!
One simply cannot begin to understand Japan without understanding this turbulent period in its history and one simply cannot being to understand this period without studying the history of a few key feudal domains that spear-headed the major changes in Japanese history. Craig's work remains the definitive one on the subject, in spite of its age.

Concise, yet comprehensive sytematic approach to bioethics
Dr. Jonsen is one the nation's germinal thinkers in the field of bioethics. Through his experience and associations at several of the renowned medical academic institutions in this coutnry he sets forth a clear systematic approach to problems in bioethics. This includes a review of his "4-box" method for approaching ethical problems and then reviews basic ethical principles as well as legal definitions. His approach to clincal dilemmas provides a refreshing analytical process for dilineating issues and conflicts.

This is an excellent resource for those in medical settings.
The authors suggest another method of evaluating ethical dilemmas. They suggest one examine the situation in light of medical indications, patient preferences, quality of life, and contextual features. Because the approach is clinical, rather than theoretical, some of the medical details presented are somewhat technical. This is a book for those working in a medical setting or otherwise engaged with medical ethics. I read the book based on the recommendation of a bioethics lecturer. It was further recommended recently by the Director of the Program in Medical Ethics for University of California, Irvine. --Mary Kay Buike, MSW, ACSW; Oncology Social Worker and member of a hospital Bioethics Committee

The Einstein Gold (or God) Age
All the Einstein life is very intersting! For the 20st centuryworld life the 1900-1909 Einstein period is the apex of his scientificcontributions, specially for three papers: those about the Brownian Movement, the Photoelectric Effects and Eletromagnetic Effects when there is a referencial change. All three papers brought to ous news interpretations of those phenomena and revealed the Einstein interpretation capacity of visible and not-visible world. The paper about Photoelectric Effects presented a new quantum views of ligh and material interaction while the Eletromagnetic Effects showed the principles of Special Relativity, a theme that transverse the 20st century and arrive at 21st century without popular technology applications. This book brings a opened, stimulant, and helpful explanations - great lectures - about the principals Einstein ideas. Maybe this book is the first to point closely the life and thinking of a science men.

An extraordinary collection
Readers-

One might question why you might purchase a book such as this. Well the answer is quite simple. Logic. Now when I say logic I don't mean the logic of the words themselves rather the logic that you might read such an impressive work.

Einstien was a genius in his time, a genius yet to be surpassed (in the authority of Science that is). His works are timeless, classic examples of the scientific process and this particular is a well-balanced example.

Written during the years of the 1910s this volume's works depict a dedication to science even through the war in Europe.

A Must Read!

Good Collection of a Great Theologian
Karl Rahner has been perhaps the single most influential Catholic theologian of the 20th century. He has served the Church in numerous ways, but he has also maintained his integrity and acumen in theological writings that are both inspired and inspiring in their beauty.

Rahner's theology is a very complicated one, yet he presents it in a beautiful, poetic and devotional way. ~The Content of Faith~ is a collection of some of his most important writings from a long career, and is thus broken up into shorter segments that are easily digestible. This is not a systematic theology. Even the layperson with little interest in theology can sit down and read one of these pieces and be inspired by the beauty of Rahner's vision of God.

I am not a Catholic, yet I appreciate Rahner tremendously and would heartily recommend this book to anyone. There are indeed some pretty heavy essays in here, but don't get bogged down by those - there is plenty here for everyone.

To Review the theological writings of Karl Rahner
This book is probably the best in the series of books by Karl Rahner. Not only does it sum up the theology of the Roman Catholic Church, but it also sums up the works of Rahner himself. With chapters about Jesus, God, Mary, Christology, Extestentialism, and Angels, it is truly a must for any theological buff.

Coupling of Electromagnetic Fields to Transmission Lines
Published in Hardcover by Emf-Emi Control (20 January, 1989)
Authors: Albert A., Smith and Albert A. Smith
Amazon base price: $39.00
Used price: $150.00
Average review score:

Coupling of External Electromagnetic Fields to Transmission
A. A. Smith's treatise must be the definitive work on field-to-wire coupling. His formulas are repeatedly used to test and verify results from method of moments (MOM) and other codes, and after becoming familiar with his closed-form solutions (which by the way are easily brought into MathCAD) they become an essential tool for predicting EMC interactions. He covers the effects of incident electric and magnetic fields to single and paired wires over an image ground plane, lossy wires and shielded cables. It's a thin book, but every page is worth the price of the book when you need it - and you'll need it often if you're involved in EMC analysis.

Author's name correction
The author's name is incorrectly listed as "Alberta Smith". It is actually Albert A. Smith, Jr.

Mr. Smith's book is the seminal treatment of the subject of coupling of electromagnetic fields into transmission lines. Equations are derived and presented for uniform and non-uniform fields, balanced lines, and unbalanced lines over a ground plane. The material is applicable to many real engineering problems commonly encountered.

For those in love with why a golf course is what it is
If you love golf and appreciate what a makes a great golf course, then this is the book that will add to your enjoyment of every hole you play. It will also aid you in your criticism of your greens committee when they want to lengthen a hole or add a bunker or two, or just change for changes sake. Despite the fact that the articles were written in the early part of this century, they are totally relevant to today's golfing problems - overplay, balls that go too far, courses that need to be acceptable to both the tiger and the rabbit, etc, etc. If you've played on the world's best, love golf, have an eye for a great golf hole and course - and you love books, then read and appreciate the majesty of a great design mind. Here is a master at work. Without Tillie, the likes of Trent Jones (all of them), Bob Cupp, Nicklaus (all of them), etc, etc would be without inspiration. Jay Morrish is the nearest in modern times to him for sheer poetry of layout. But that's not forgetting Ross, Mackenzie, Colt, et al whose courses are also wonderful. Read and enjoy - it really does make the course beautiful.

Great Book for Tillinghast course members
A collection of Tillinghast's writings, how he approached the land, trying to retain the 'naturalness' of the terrain. His thoughts about the overall layout, etc. Certainly explains why his courses have stood the test of time. As a printer, I would commend the publishers and their printer for making a black and white book look so good !
