Good book, bad title
The title of this book is entirely misleading. There is nothing whatsoever in the book pertaining to the politics of the playground, but a great deal of very good sense pertaining to how parents can assist their children to surmount developmental challenges. Apart from the usual North American neurotic attitude towards sexuality (that surfaces in Chapter Seven) this book is sensible and instructive. It avoids useless platitudes and instead provides parents with hands-on guidance that is neither foolish nor redundant. Even those parents whose children are progressing satisfactorily will find much here to prompt their thinking in ways that will lead to even greater richness of parent-child interaction. Along with "Siblings Without Rivalry" this is one of the must-have books for a parent's library.

Very insightful & well written
As children grow and mature, they go through many different stages in their lives, each requiring support and understanding. The book, "Playground Politics", by Dr. Stanley Greenspan, offers us a look into the behaviors of children ages 5-12, and the emotional and developmental phases that they experience.

There are no concrete answers to help children cross over successfully from one stage to the next. What we can do, is try to understand the reasoning behind their behavior and feelings, and learn how to be a more supportive caregiver.

My ParenTime highly recommends "Playground Politics" - it gives us that special insight to explore, understand, and nurture our children's stages for growth, development, and emotional well-being.

A "must" for any parent with a school age child.
This book is one of the most straight-forward books I have read about the emotional stages of children from the time they enter kindergarten through their teen years. In easy to understand language, this book allows parents to enter into the minds and hearts of children and view the world from their perspective. I found it extremely useful for the insight it provides about the role that friends play in children's lives and how we, as parents, can provide support as they face the emotional challanges of human interaction.

Plays From Woolly Mammoth
Published in Paperback by Broadway Play Pub (1999)
Authors: Billy Aronson, Stanley Rutherford, Robert Alexander, Amy Freed, Regina Porter, and Christi Stewart-Brown
Amazon base price: $17.95

A WORK OF GENIUS
This collection is worth buying for the inclusion of Amy's Freed's THE PSYCHIC LIFE OF SAVAGES, which is with no exaggeration a work of staggering genius. Freed's tragicomedy tells a semi-fictional story about four American mid-century poets -- Sylvia Plath, Ted Hughes, Anne Sexton and Robert Lowell -- as a springboard for investigating the nature of art and the moral fabric of the era. Along the way Freed PARODIES these poets, plus Emily Dickinson, in a way that is both spot-on and hysterically funny. I saw PSYCHIC LIFE during its run in 1995 and can say without question that it remains one of the most memorable nights I have ever had in the theater. The good news is that the experience, I found, also translates well to the page -- so you can experience it, too.

Excellent source for new plays
This volume is a must for those interested in new contemporaryAmerican work and is easily purchased via Amazon... PublishedSept. 1999 by a theatre committed to developing and producing new plays and promoting emerging playwrights. The volume presents a spectrum of works (all of which premiered at the theatre) nominated for a variety of awards by 6 different playwrights, including the widely produced The Gene Pool.

great theater publishes top-notch plays!
I'm a huge Woolly fan and even being biased, I must say that this is an exceptional collection. The plays included are from the hottest and most interesting new-new playwrights in the country.

Robert Alexander's work, "The Last Orbit of Billy Mars," was nominated for the Charles Macarthur New Play Award here in Washington, DC.

All of the plays in this collection were highly successful shows for a great nationally-known theater! Definitely worth checking out if you're an off-off Broadway type of theater fan or producer.

Inspirational guidance through everyday life
During a time of great need I purchased "The Power of the Cross". I got more than I bargained for. This book opened my eyes and my heart to address the internal struggle that had been so prevalent in my spiritual life. I found the scriptual references to be quite helpful and appropriate within the context of the subject. I have given this book to 2 friends and have received positive comments and appreciation from both of them. It is a wonderful gift.

The most powerful devotional I have ever experienced.
No matter how weary you may be, how discouraged, how bruised by life and its problems, The Power of the Cross can truly impact your daily life and spiritual growth. Charles Stanley's reflections on the Bible verses in this book of prayers are meant for anyone, regardless of what stage of spirituality you are in, and no matter what is going on at any particular moment in your life. I am personalizing these words, because this spiritual resource should be used by everyone -- including YOU. The Power of the Cross can be your compass, and bring you hope and joy.

success in a handbook
As a senior at NYU, the daunting task of writing a strong and well organized resume was dawning upon me. Thankfully, I fell across "The Resume Writer's Workbook" which is designed not only as a book with helpful tips to perk a mediocre resume and constuct a professional and convincing resume that you will feel confident to send out, but also breaks down the process of creating a resume by giving you hands on experience through wroksheets. The workbook has been the most valuable lesson I have thus far learned and has made the transition of my education into the professional world easy and clear. I don't think I would have been able to not only create a strong resume describing my attributes and experiences, but also feel fully confident that is it the best projection of my skills and passions. Anyone planning on writing a resume should get this book. It will provide anyone with clear hands-on expereince of writing that piece of paper that can get you your dream job. Gali Wexler NYU

the best book in it's class
I have read a few books on this subject and in my opinion this book steals the show. The workbook gave me the confidence I was lacking, and helped me nail the job I was after. Highly recommended.

Excellent book!
Krantman's Resume Writer's Workbook is great! It makes me wish that I would have had the book when I was looking for my first job. It would have saved me the money I spent having someone else help me write my resume--and it would have been a better resume, too! I like the structure and step-by-step instructions. The worksheets are comprehensive and seem to ask just the right questions. The details on how to write cover letters and resumes (right down to the font size to use) tell me the kind of things I need to know. Not being particularly computer literate, I really like the way he explained using the internet to post my resume. My husband, a professor at a local college, even says that he's going to suggest it to his students.

Roche Versus Adams

A book that must not be missed.
I read the book more than three years ago. Even though I have forgotten most of the details of Mr Adams's story, I am deeply impressed by this man's courage and ability of not showing even the slightest sign of grudge agaisnt those who have played him out. This shows that he is a very forgiving and loving guy. I admire him for the way in which he reacted to the whole incident. It's a very touching story, undeniably. May he live in peace and happiness forever.

A real life thriller that leaves fiction a long way behind
This book has left a mark on my life and despite reading it over ten years ago I can still remember the tale in some detail. I recommend it to anyone who wishes to understand the true power of the multinnational

Destroys all faith in the European Community
A most distrurbing tale of what happened to an executive of a Swiss pharmaceutical company after he had left the organisation.

Doing what he felt was right for the good of consumers and the EC, he passed cartel and shady dealing information to the European Parliament.

His subsequent arrest, the 'suicide' of his wife, and his ensuing struggle for freedom will bring a genuine tear to the eye of even the hardest reader.

I have tried to contact Stanley Adams and John Prescott (who assisted him in his plight) but to no avail.

All in all a gripping read - at times you will not beleive it is NON-fiction.

great book!
This is a great book, he even seems to be able to add some humor to such a special topic. He presents a great argument for why he thinks that Sex is sacred, too bad my husband has no desire to read this book. I think it should be required reading for couples in pre marital counseling or in marriage counseling and any couple who care to increase their joy together.

Made me think...
Yo...

This book presents a different view on sex - a Biblical view. A lot of analogies that author makes are great and helpful. I don't know that I agree with the view that sex is worship, but overall the book is a MUST read.

Honestly, think about the title! In today's world the sex is an animalistic act. Author positions sex as sacred act that belongs in its right context - marriage!

Bottom line: this book is a worthy read!

Finally; a unique book on sex!
Funny, thoughtful, witty, and challenging. This is NOT a simply a "how to," but answers the deeper questions concerning all of the "whys" of sexual intimacy between a husband and a wife. Helps take sex from a battlefield to what God intended it to be. Helpful for couples and counselors. I highly recommend it.

Underrated humorous mystery series
I mean this in the nicest possible way, but Stanley Hastings -- Parnell Hall's New York private investigator -- is not the sharpest knife in the drawer, if you know what I mean. But he is the funniest p.i. in mysteries today.

Don't misunderstand me. Hastings has enough brains to handle his job, which mostly involves recruiting accident victims for the attorney he works for. But when it comes to a real case, the reactions of the people who know him -- his boss, Richard Rosenberg, his short-suffering wife, Alice (who loves him, but doesn't take as a personal insult his lack of mental acuity) and his contact on the police force, Sgt. MacAuliff -- all respond in the same way: "Somebody hired you?"

In "Scam," Hall's 12th book, Hastings is hired by a man who chatted up a girl in a bar, and woke up hours later on the street. The man feels he is being set up, but he doesn't know by whom or why. Hastings finds the girl, but that is the last easy thing that happens, as New York's most hapless detective bumbles into a scheme involving a company's proxy fight and Hastings becomes suspect number one in three murders.

Hall's books are characterized by dialog-friendly writing and tight plotting, and the shaggy-dog feel of "Scam" is funny as it is clever. Stanley, too, can be a kick to watch working. While he's an easy target, he's also decent and honorable, worrying as much as Nintendo's moral effect on his son as the three murder charges have on him. Despite the humiliation and ribbing he receives, he presses onward, which makes him -- surprise, surprise! -- an admirable figure. While waiting for the refrigerator light to go on inside Hastings' head, Hall throws in enough plot twists and genial insults to keep the reader's attention until the inevitable and satisfying finish.

lighthearted,funny and entertaining
I have read all of Parnell Hall's Stanley Hastings mysteries. Scam lives up to his reputation as a funny, creative and inventive writer. The plot is so well-written that there are no loose ends at all-the entire Scam is like a sting operation. Ihope Mr. Hall's characters lives on and on

Another fascinating Stanley Hastings mystery drama
Cranston Pritchert hires New York private investigator Stanley Hastings to learn more about a woman he recently met in a singles bar, one who may be used to hurt him at his job at the Philip Greenberg Investment Company. Stanley thinks the story is full of holes, but Cranston is a paying customer and that is more important than indulging in one's pride of being used. Stanley accepts the case and starts to investigate who the woman is and why someone at Cranston's firm would want to set the man up to take a fall. ..... Stanley eventually identifies Cranston's singles pick up, but also finds a corpse. Soon other people involved in the case are also murdered. Stanley is framed by a rogue cop and arrested as the evidence against him piles up. Out on bail, he knows he better uncover the identity of the real killer before he is legally fried or locked away for several lifetimes. ..... SCAM will remind the reader of the classic Newman-Redford film, THE STING. It is just as entertaining with several twists to the story line and great characters providing a feel for the City. Especially interesting is Stanley, who proved he could act when he had to pull off the big SCAM. Parnell Hall scores big time with this humorous tale just as he always does. .....Harriet Klausner

Life Changing
This is one of the best devotinal books I ever read. It helped me to see what God wanted for me in my life. It really turned my life around.
I was so glad I bought it at my youth camp. That's where I met Stuart Hall himself (awesome goddly man to meet). He mentioned this book at the camp for those who wanted to learn more about what he talked about. (I surly did!)
This book covers everthing from the Basics to Moral Boundries, Friends, and Choices.
God really worked on me through this Book and his very own word.
I hope any and all who read this book will be abel to see God more clearly as I did.

A Volunteer Youth Sponsor looks at "The Seven Checkpoints"
I am a volunteer youth sponsor for our small church and youth group. Recently, and coincidentally, our full-time youth pastor and our only other youth resource person resigned. Without full time leadership we sponsors were feeling mighty inadequate. I heard Andy Stanley on a radio talk show doing a promotion for his new book. I bought the book and found it to be not only an easy read but clearly delineated and organized for even those of us in part-time volunteer ministry. Stanley and Hall offer some unorthodox but very sensible approaches to planning and maintaining a youth group over a long period of time with a specific goal in mind. The book is so easy to follow, we have decided to adapt our curriculum to their philosophy of these seven pivotal checkpoints. I recommend this book for any struggling youth volunteers like me and for any of those in full-time ministry.

A wise choice
Kids face so many difficult challenges in today's chaotic culture. Andy Stanley talks practically and from the heart to help teens to live victoriously in the middle of this generation. One especially helpful checkpoint is encouraging teens to make wise choices and showing them how. Rather than telling kids that they're making wrong choices, they can consider making the wisest choice in any situation. This builds them up rather than cutting them down. It nourishes the spirit rather than stifling them.

Best book on Faith
This book is an example of what can happen when a man will follow Jesus completely. Just like a second book of Acts but in the 1900's. Great reading and cheap at twice the price.

A must have reference...
For the busy orthopaedic surgeon and resident, this text should be "required". Hoppenfeld accomplishes the unenviable task of providing a text with concise explanations of surgical exposure with excellent illustrations. Relevant anatomy is clearly conveyed to the surgeon performing the dissection. In addition, the text serves well as a five to ten minute refresher prior to the operation at hand.

An Orthopaedic Bible
A clear, concise and beautifully illustrated hardback book. I cannot see how this book can become outdated which is why I forked out the small fortune to buy it! No regrets though- this book really is worth every penny/cent

simply the best
those who are blest with a perfect recall of anatomy do not need this book but the rest will find its thorough yet simple guide to surgical approaches an invaluble aid to safe practice.
