AN AMAZING LOOK AT WOMEN's SUPPRESSED POTENTIAL.
I couldn't put this book down. As a life-long New York Democrat, I thought I was leading-edge sensitive to women's issues. But couched in one of the most exciting pieces of technology fiction I've ever read is a disturbing spiritual gem: Women could well be the intended solution to all the world's problems."

A Seriously Good Read
A good friend gave me a copy of the book. I was skeptical but the first page hooked me. Rick is the master of the high-tech action novel like King is the master of the thriller.

A hard-to-put-down thriller.
I never have time to read, given the pull of family and work responsibilities. But the storyline intrigued me, so I picked it up and started reading. It's a cross between Robert Ludlam and Stephen King -- and the fun part is that I fought off sleep every night so I could keep reading. I haven't had that much fun in a long while. When the story was done, I could say "Whew!" because now I could get back to regular sleeping hours. A great story, thought provoking and well-written.

A great help!
I found this particular guide book to be one of the best I purchased - and I bought a few. It was very accurate and up-to-date on prices, phone numbers, attractions, hours and general information. (Although that was June '96 and I'm sure that "Frommer's Ireland on $60 a Day" is more accurate money-wise.) It really helped me to plan my vacation and I was able to see most of the places I wanted to without wasting time or money. It has a bit for everyone from the pub scene to literary interests and everything in between. I especially like how Frommer's tells you how to get the best value for your dollar but where you should splurge if you can. Hope I run into a few of you when I next go to Ireland!

The Best Book for Ireland travel
I used this book for my trip to Ireland and found it very accurate and so informative be it food/b&bs/cars-driving and tourist sights. The tips were great and the whole trip was just smooth sailing due much of this book. I highly recommend this book to anyone who might be heading to the Emerald Isle.

This was the only book I needed to buy!
I bought this book, and several others, in order to prepare for my first trip to Ireland. It was the only one I should have bought!! The prices were incorrect, but inflation happens. I would highly recommend this book to anyone planning a vacation to the Emerald Isle! Don't waste you hard earned money on any other books or maps! Save it for shopping. I spent even less than the $50.00 a day, and had a wonderful time. I saved so much, that I am going back again in a few months!!

"The Manager's handbook"
McIntosh has done it again! This time, he takes on the sometimes complex human relationships encountered by people managers in today's workplace. He presents clear approaches and stratagies to create the team spirit and cooperation necessary to survive in today's competitive marketplace.
I recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn more about team-building or to become eligible for that next promotion.

Innovative approach to principles of leadership
I thoroughly enjoyed Mr. McIntosh's book. As a CEO of a large organization, I am particularly interested in learning about how to motivate and inspire my employees.

Mr. McIntosh's work not only provides concise, principle centered ideas, but he writes the book in a readable and entertaining style.

I would recommend the book to my colleagues or anyone who is serious about setting vision and inspiring workers to achieve the next level of success.

Will pay for itself in a day.
A great source for useful information for the small business owner. Great insights into the psyche of the wage earner today. Best of all, practical tactics that I can use today, tomorrow and next week.

After you convert and beforehand
This is a book that I have been yearning for many years. A book for all Christians in that all true believers yearn for more real spiritual teaching to edify. The writer uses the teaching of the Apostle Paul predominately that brings "new insight" which is definitely beneficial in two major ways, higher educating of the faith and faith strengthening. This is something all real believers seek, bringing us closer to gods spirit. Also a book for persons flagging in their faith and on the verge of making a decision to convert. I wish to recommend a great spiritual book, SB 1 or God by Karl Maddox.

An excellent primer on the fundamentals of Christian living.
I sometimes liken what passes for Christianity today as a process of administering the equivalent of a religious vaccine--they introduce a watered down shadow of Christianity that has the effect of rendering the recipient immune to the real thing, should he ever see it. Although I suppose this is not just a modern day phenomenon--as C. S. Lewis noted long ago, the reason so few fail at Christianity is because do few try it.

I have my own ideas as to why this is, but more on that in a moment. First, the book.

This is a great book. It provides a basic overview of what I'd call the "how's and why's" of daily Christian life.

So many seem to think so much of what is discussed here is unimportant and/or optional--prayer, worship, fellowship, religious study and so forth are, for some reason, too often seen as minor adjuncts to "the Christian Life". The book looks at each of these--and other--topics and explains why they are vital to the daily life of Christians and need to be performed/observed/pursued. The church has lasted over 2000 years in large part because these actions were developed as a means of communicating, enriching and protecting the faith and its followers. Roberts does an admirable job of explaining the roots of these activities, their history and their importance both to the church in general and to the individual specifically.

I particularly like the subtitle of this book--Experiencing Authentic Christian Living. I believe there are two factors that undermine the Christian faith in general these days. One is shallowness derived from Christianity as marketing as opposed to Christianity as religion. Success seems in all too many cases to be based solely on the number of bodies that come through the door. Entertainment and marketing thus replace faith and evangelism. The other is Christianity as politics. The radical right and left seem to have decided that the church pulpit is primarily a political pulpit.

This book works because it focuses on Christianity as a faith--not an entertainment or a political medium. It is not about getting right with your karma or right with a political agenda--it's about getting right with God, complete with an array of actions that will facilitate and strengthen that activity.

If you're worried about your temporal life, go to a mega church and join the softball team. If you are concerned about your spiritual and eternal life, read this book.

Excellent Window
Certain essays from this book were requirements for an international relations class I took. After reading two of the stories I had to read the entire book. It is a truely excellent window into the effects of the atomic bomb on humans. It took me below the mushroom cloud, it was graphic, gripping, and effective. It does not focus on justifications for the bomb, it focuses purely on the effects. I plan on buying it in the near future because it is such an excellent testimonial.

greatly educational
I reviewed that te book was a great review of how terrible the devigstation was. Had great detail

An important treatise for clinicians and psychologists.
This survey of the psychotherapy of unusual states focuses on panic as a life experience, reviewing its symptoms, causes, and providing insights into how patients cope with anxiety. Chapters will appeal to clinicians and psychologists, providing keys to therapy and models for understanding anxiety states.

Interesting and groundbreaking!
Who knew that fear could affect people's lives in so many different ways? This book deals with nervous breakdowns; anxiety- and fear-related illnesses; even the ways that fear affects creative people, most notably Edvard Munch. It's definitely an eye-opener, and a page-turner as well. And it's got a great cover.

Fine poetry by an adventurer.
When I studied poetry in school I didn't particularly like most of what we were assigned to read. And then I read Robert Service's poem The Shooting of Dan McGrew and discovered that I liked it. Next I read The Cremation of Sam McGee and decided that poetry could actually be fun. Eventually I read other poems by Robert Service and discovered that, although most were more serious than Dan McGrew and Sam McGee, they still appealed to me. In fact, thanks in large part to Service, I have now developed a taste for other poetry as well. Robert Service was an adventurer as well as a poet and his adventurer's perspective makes his poems particular appealing. If you're a fan of Robert Service this is a good collection of his work. If you haven't read him yet this is a good place to start. And if you think that you don't like poetry, maybe Service will help convert you as he did me.

Great collection of Robert Service, superbly illustrated

A Different Season: A Practical Guide for Growth While Grieving a Death

Extremely Practical with Spiritual Depth
As a therapist I have found this title to be very helpful in counseling grieving clients. I haven't found another book like it on the market because it's so practical and yet has a depth to it which only a person who has experienced grief can express. A grieving person can use it at any step in their grief recovery--whether they have just lost a loved one or are still grieving a death which occurred years ago. The way the author uses the seasons of the year is quite extraordinary. I use it in conjuntion with the author's "Bereavement Handouts" and have recommended this book to clients, other mental health clinicians, and even my local funeral home as an expression of sympathy to a grieving individual.

Simple, Practical, Helpful--VERY unique grief book.
As a clinician, I have found this book to be helpful with my clients who are grieving--no matter what stage they are in. It's very practical--going through the seasons of the year. The author has obviously had extensive experience with grief, both personally and professionally.

The Very Best!
If you were to only buy one book on reptiles and amphibians, this would be the one. No other author can come close to Rober C. Stebbins in this area. Not only is his writing, informative, easily understood, highly intersting and always engaging, but he also does his own drawings, from live specimens, and his artwork is quite incredible! I suggest that any parent of school age children consider buying this book as a present for his or her own kids. Young boys in particular are quickly attracted to this kind of work and a book like this will serve as a real foundation for years of study and enjoyment. Teachers too will often find that boys who dislike school and "reading" in general, will just love this book. Anything spent on this book is money well spent.

One Of The Crown Jewels Of The Peterson Field Guide Series
Written by the leading expert in his field, this is the best book on the subject. I remember when I was in college that Professor Stebbins' class was always impossible to get into because he was so popular and respected. This book is his legacy... a highly detailed book with hundreds of beautifully rendered drawings. Each drawing is meticulous and a great learning tool. This volume is one of the best of the Peterson Field Guide Series and is highly recommended for all readers, even if they never venture outside.

Very good, targeted recommendations
My group of friends, who had all travelled Greece in our backpacking days, benefited greatly from this book. As our trip in July 2002 progressed, we relied more and more heavily on the book. The recommendations from sites to food to hotels proved to be excellent every time. I particularly liked that the lodging and restaurant recommendations had inexpensive through expensive listings, which we used as our budget-mindedness changed during the trip. For anyone beyond backpacking and Lonely Planet, this book is a must.

most useful.
I found this book very useful. I used it mostly as a guide on a walking tour of Athens. I only had three days in Athens and wanted to see as much as possible. I spent a few hours browsing through the pertinent section and made my plan of action. Everything was as described. I also referred to it when making my hotel reservation and when looking for good restaurants. I stayed at the Hotel Philippos near the Acropolis - a great little place. Eating I went through great troubles one night to find the Taverna Sigalas in the Monasteraki area (because of subway construction,) but it was well worth the effort. I still drool at the thought of the wonderful Greek salad I had and the very best moussaka I've ever eaten. Going to Rome this year and I plan to buy a Frommer's for Rome because I only have three days there and I know I can depend on this book.
