Not so bad afteral
Well, this small E-book ain't so bad after all. I just finished it and it was a good story, though it was too short (about 115 pages). The author speed up the story and the character doesn't stay in one place too long.

I don't want to tell anything about the contents, because I don't want to spoil the story. To all the Diablo fans, I just can say, read it. I already read Diablo - Legacy of Blood, but it's best to read this first, in case you have to start. Demonsbane is a great prelude to the series and you should definately read it.
By reading these books, I like playing the game more, since I understand the world better.

Have fun with this book.

Demonsbane
Overall, I applaud Mr. Marks effort in the first official story set in the vivid wold of Sanctuary. I did enjoy reading this novella. But there are some flaws. The most fun of reading a book based on a game is that you can relate. You can say,"I've done that." Or, "I've met that person." Things like that. With Demonsbane however, the characters were not fleshed out enough. There was none of the mystery and excitment of the story that the Diablo universe is famous for. He did have some recognizable characters but in name only. Tyreal, although essentially the same, was basically a mystical human being instead of an angel. I wished there were more involvement in the story. A good thing is that the book left off with plenty of room for a sequel. Which we can all hope for.

Definitely worth a look.
I enjoyed reading Demonsbane, and its a book I'd recommend to others. To be honest, its more of a novella, as it comes in at just over 100 pages, but its a good story.

I have mixed feelings about the characterization and plot of the book itself. I would've liked to have gotten a deeper look at the personalities and motivations of the various characters in the book--but--that's only because I found them to be interesting as characters to begin with. I hope and expect that later books by Mr. Marks will continue to expand on the dramatis personae he provided us with in his first work.

Overall, he paints a vivid picture of Sanctuary (the Diablo world). Heroes such as Arkaine, Velund the Smith, and Tyrael make appearances, and earlier events and critical wars are discussed.

I would say that Mr. Marks had a very difficult job. Honestly, I believe its impossible to build a deep, complex, and completely immersive world, PLUS add excellent characterization in 100 pages. What Demonsbane does best is set the stage for the books (hopefully others by Marks) that will come after it. It's a worthwhile read, a good story, and I expect that the books that come after it will continue to expand the world of Sanctuary and populate it with interesting and deep characters. Worth your time.

Too expensive, Junk and waste of Money
I cant believe Professionals cant explain topics in a easy words. Trying to use grandma stories and without explaining where numbers come its impossible to understand.

1) explanations are not good at all very confusing if you are a beginner.
2) Examples are like grandma tale and will make you sleepy.
3) dull and boring.
4) the authors need to put them self in the students shoes rather than assuming they are teaching a CPA.
I would recommend Schaums Series or barrons series for learning, Its easy and also easy on your wallet...compared to this...

Not for beginners.
I would not recommend this book to anyone who has not have any prior Managerial Accounting classes or sufficient work experience in this area. The way the topics are presented in the book requires familiarity with a number of related concepts in order to gain full understanding. Additionally, there is a number of instances in which concepts are introduced in a given chapter, but not explained until a later one, which makes it really confusing for those exposed to Managerial Accounting for the first time.

A "must have" for your business library
My MBA program used this book. I found the book easy to read and liked its consideration of behavioral issues usually ignored in other books. The book covers new and important topics in management accounting (activity-based costing, balanced scorecard, JIT, target costing, kaizen costing, environmental costing and benchmarking). A companion book (Readings in Management Accounting) has lots of articles describing applications of material presented in the textbook.

Step by Step is Better
Been a Wrox fan for some time. This is the worst book their team has produced. The material is cursory at best and totally theoretical. Very few practical examples. Never thought I would point to an MSPress Step-by-Step book, however it is far superior to this junk.

A Light in the Data Mining Tunnel
I found this book to be helpful in understanding how to utilize multidimensional database design. It was nice to see that Microsoft has some affordable alternatives one can turn to in the data mining and data warehousing market. Once again WROX has produced a helpful product for professionals in the computer industry.

Better than the last book!
I bought Sakhrs version of this book for SQL Server 7. This is not just an upgrade but a look at the new functionlity found within SQL Server 2000.

This book is a dream if you are involved within Analysis and even looking at the new DTS Analysis functions has helped me.

Comparing this with other books, by far this is the one that is well written and doesnt just come out with the obvious.

Not much meat to the matter!
This book has very little substance behind the nice cover! I found it not particularly helpful or useful in any way, except as a extremely basic list of hotels/inns etc. that may accept pets... the book includes extremely generic information like you might find on a hotel flyer or brochure. There is no specific information about the inn/hotel's environment for pets and why in the world you would want to take your pet there in the first place! There are some lists of various parks, but no descriptions or reviews. It almost feels as if the author looked on a map for green areas and then listed a few of them in the book to make it longer... A similar and much better book is "On the Road Again with Man's Best Friend-New England" by Dawn and Robert Habgoo. (Now that's a book worth every penny and more!)

Very informative
A great book for the dog or cat lover who would like to take their pet on vacation with them. It gives tips on car & plane trips. With over 200 pages of hotels, and inns, phone #'s,e-mails,prices. There are very informative descriptions of the accommodations as well as the surrounding areas. 4 paws!

Accounting for Dummies
Too much time is spent on problems that do not require such exposition -- and more complex and real-life problems are avoided. This study guide is not much help.

Garbage!
Jan Williams, Dean of the Business School at UTK, is known for neither his creativity or knowledge. This book demonstrates that his reputation is well deserved.

Excelent paperwork material!
This is an excelent suplemental book to "Financial Accounting" 9th edition. It gives all of the papers needed for all of the problems so that instead of spending your time drawing tables and charts, you can simply fill in the blanks on the special forms provided for each problem...

eh..and that's about it
I've read quite a few spec ops books; fiction, historical, good, bad...and this book falls in the "eh" catageroy. It was mildly entertaining, the characters were mildly believable, and the story was predictable at best. Thankfully, the monotany of the pedestrian plot was boken up by action sequences and jungle tracking/stalking scenes. But even those were defeated by the fact that you *knew* that they would always make it out safe or find their man. if you have nothing better to do pick up this book. You might like it you might not. enjoy.

How did this get past the proofreaders??
I picked this up in a bookstore for my English Composition CLEP test, and got through four pages, finding three typographical errors in the example questions--before I realized that they were unintentional. Unacceptable, for sure.

There are too many typographical errors in this book
This book has too many typographical errors. I used 3 books,Cracking the Clep(Princeton),Clep English composition(Comex),and Barrons. The first two are GREAT books that provide the background(nuts and bolts)needed to pass the english test. Barrons has plenty of sample questions, but lacks english grammar review material. I would not recommend this book to anyone.

Don't waste your money, I'm returning mine to the store
I bought this book as an impulse at a book store, wanting to CLEP the English Composition exam. Unfortunatly, this book is riddled with technical errors throughout. I took the initial exam, missing several questions like I suspected. But the reason I missed some of the questions was because the answers were wrong. At page 62, I had seen enough errors to make me want to return this book. Don't buy it, try something else.

Below average text
Poor coverage of concepts and poor exposition of examples.

B-O-R-I-N-G
ELEMENTARY. BORING. NOT CHALLENGING. MISSES SEVERAL IMPORTANT ISSUES.

The authors could do with some refresher courses -- they seem really over the hill!

Not engaging
Introductory Accounting texts are not rocket science. This text covers similar gound as others, probably in a below-average fashion as it is extremely boring and fails to elicit student interest. There is no new ground or any theoretical breakthroughs. It would have been nice if the text had addressed some issues of current concern to managers and accountants -- such as issues of fraudulent ethics and international accounting. Jan Williams et al. seem to be unaware of current issues bothering accountants, but it is probably too much to expect anything cutting-edge from a book of this type or by these authors.

Should Be Filed Under Fiction
Having tried three of the "recommendations" and living close to a fourth, I can only say this work is more fantasy than fact. We were turned away from one "pet-friendly" place when they found out that our small Boston Terrier was not a cat.

Put the "travel" back in travel writing
I bought Pets Welcome, but after using it I have the impression that the authors didn't travel at all to write it. We traveled to inns that didn't reflect the descriptions at all. The Fish's reviews are essentially taken from the brochures, with perhaps one or two additional facts. I can read a brochure or check a web site for the innkeeper's perspectives, but I depend on travel guides for firsthand experiences of the authors. I was dissapointed with Pets Welcome guide because it merely pointed me in the right direction without giving me any insight.

purple prose and fast and loose with the facts
This book suffers from the flaw of being written in the painfully florid style of pr travel pieces. I am also a little suspicious that the writers do not have a critical word about a single one of these inns, hotels and motels that take dogs. Did they actually go to any of them?? I have my doubts. Aware of at least one gross factual error -- in review of a B&B in Chapel Hill, NC, it suggests that you visit the "nearby" Great Smoky Mountins, which are at least three hours' drive away. I have not actually tried to go to any of the listed places with my dog, so I cannot say if the work is entirely fictional. However, I think this book is an excellent concept and look forward to seeing better editing and fact-checking in future editions.
