Best Korean Cookbook I own...and I own plenty!
Growing up in Korea for 17 years got me cooking Korean Food at least once a week. I even make my own Kimchee. Hard things for me to cook Korean Food are not knowing English names for certain ingredients and following Korean Cookbook Recipes that usually don't represent the taste I grew up with. Craving the food, and not living near Korean community got me to purchase many Korean Cookbooks both in Korean and English. One of the book I own that has high review in amazon.com, "Growing Up in a Korean Kitchen: A Cookbook", doesn't even compare to this book. This book has great Korean Food history, and correct representation of Korean words..which lacks in "Growing..". Being a proud Korean, I was a little frustrated with "Growin.." book. "Korean Home Cooking" has beautiful pictures of food, great instructions..and for a change, recipe works! (I usually ommit some minor ingredients that I can't find in regular grocery stores..still successful) I am proud to own and recommend this book to my friends and family. I thought this book deserved my 1st review on amazon.com. I just wish the book was much thicker with many more great Korean food!!!!!

A Must Have!! Outstanding!
Incredible account of the history of one of America's most historic towns. Beautifully written and informative. Captions are especially well-written, particularly the portions on education and organizations.

I purchased and read this book because I hoped to brush up on my knowledge of American history. However, I learned much more than that, and recommend this as an irreplaceable supplement to any study of the history of the United States of America.

This book captures the essence of a small town's famous place in history.

This is a definite A+, 10 out of 10, and I highly recommend it to all professors and instructors as an addition to a curriculum.

Sensual plum blossoms everywhere!
I bought this book in 1983 and it has stayed in my permanent collection of books. It is some of the most sensuous and vibrant poetry I have ever come upon. The poetry conveys the despair, hope and longing that the poet lives with in her life of waiting for love while at court. "The Wu-Tung Tree" is one of the most beautiful poems that I know. The biography of Li Ching-Chao is not only informative, but nicely written.and the notes to the poems give the reader a greater sense of some of the symbolism and cultural significance of tunes and imagery.

An Appraisal of The Magic of Asia by Kim Chung Lee
This book is wonderful in its simplicity. Asian cooking is very different from the European cooking style which I am familiar with. I have always shied away from cooking Asian food because I found their methods so difficult. With this book's step by step instructions, and easy to come by ingredients it is simple to create wonderful meals my entire family enjoys. I recieved this book during the Christmas holidays from my son and enjoyed it so much I ordered two more for my friends.

The Origins of Chinese Communism
Published in Paperback by Oxford University Press (1989)
Author: Arif Dirlik
Amazon base price: $24.95
Used price: $19.75
Average review score:

A profound description of the origins of Chinese Communism
This is a masterful and indepth look at the emergence of Chinese Chinese communism. This book is not an easy read, but it is facinating and well written. Dirlik argues that Marxism and Communism were merely another couple of Western ideas that Chinese radicals were examining at the begining of the 20th century. Dirlik examines the influence of anarchism and other philosophies on Chinese thinking, and then tracks how Marxism and then Communism came to dominate radical thinking. He arguse that Marxist philosophy did not cause the creation of Communist groups, but rather that groups formed to study and then to propigate Bolshivism while they were still struggling to understand Marxism. If one wants to REALLY understand the how Communism sprouted in China, this is the book to read.
