Pictures are very good, information too.
Well I consider that this is a very well illustrated book as well as all those from Audubon Society, pictures are impressive.

The information on the book is very useful, it is also very detalailed for a pocket guide, and I consider a good aspect the way to find clouds, is quick and you will easily learn to classify them.

Good Book
Nice pics. Nice info. Good boo

So easy to read! Such beautiful pictures!
This book is similar, though much more condensed, to the National Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Weather. It has some of the most beautiful weather pictures I've ever seen! The text is also right next to its corresponding picture, making it very easy to use. The small size makes it perfect to carry along with you everywhere!

Neat doctor; good book
This was an excellent book and would like to have this man as my doctor. He gave an excellent picture of what doctoring was like in a small town, what his philosophy of being a doctor is and his criticism of non doctors making doctor decisions. He is critical of law suits and the problems of liability insurance costs that he could not afford. He is down to earth and not afraid to say that mistakes can and are made. Some medical terms might slow someone not familiar with them.

A Glimpse Into The Life Of A Doctor
This is a wonderful heart filled story of what it was like being a doctor when you had very little supplies, but a whole lot of heart!! It is a book that will hold a place on honor in my library, not only because I have met the author, but mainly because it is a part of our country's heritage. Dr. Losee's stories are told so that you can picture them in your mind and see what it was like to be in that era. Some make you laugh, others make you cry. I compare his writing to that of James Harriot; both writers make you feel like you are there with them.

Wonderful memoir of what medicine used to be about.
Doc Losee writes in a wonderfully refreshing style that brings the reader into an inevitable friendship with him. Medicine may never be like this again, but Doc has left a record of what is once was. The day I finished this book I wrote a letter to Doc Losee, and imagine my surprise when less than a week later, I received a personal note back from him. I have it on my wall in my study to remind me of this beautiful little book written by the Yale-educated country doctor

Powerful book, even for a tough skeptic like myself.
Before I compliment this book, let me state that I didn't buy everything in it, particularly when Mr. Scolastico indicates that he believes in past lives. Nonetheless, this book is filled with depth and brilliant insights into human emotion. Many of these insights are not particularly obvious and are explained in ways that we can really relate to. A sense of calm came over me while reading this book and I firmly believe there is a tremendous amount of wisdom within its pages. Before reading this book I was doubtful that I would get anything out of the book (it was recommended to me). Boy was I wrong. I learned more about the true relationship between stress and sadness from this book than any psychology book I have ever read. I highly recommend it for people that want a fresh perspective on life and death, even for those of you that are agnostics or atheists.

A favorite
I have shared this book with both my son and my father. It transcends religion and presents the concept of attunement in an easy to follow format. It also helpful information about healing emotion.

A gem of a book
This is a gem...in fact, I have all of Ron Scolastico's books. This one is wonderful and inspiring information for the sophisticated seeker who is looking for the next step. I highly recommend it.

Dueling Visions: U.S. Strategy Toward Eastern Europe Under Eisenhower (Foreign Relations and the Presidency, 7)
Published in Hardcover by Texas A&M University Press (2001)
Author: Ronald R. Krebs
Amazon base price: $29.95
Used price: $24.00
Average review score:

A comrehensive thesis
Mr Krebs's elucidation in re: diplomatic paradigms twixt Secretary of State John Foster Dulles and Eastern European/Soviet Bloc countries circa 1952 was truly edifying in its analyses and exegeses. His utilization of lucid rhetoric facillitated exemplary cognizance of the subject material.

An Impressive Account.
An erudite yet readable, scholarly yet lively, account of the Eisenhower administration's Cold War strategy, focusing on Eastern Europe. Krebs writes fluidly, and he succeeds in bringing alive the struggles between two contending visions of the region's future--Finlandization and rollback. Like other scholars in recent years, Krebs argues that John Foster Dulles was a far more subtle thinker on international affairs than his public pronouncements would have led one to believe, and Dulles comes across here as the chief proponent of a vision for Eastern Europe modeled along the lines of Finland--that is, domestic autonomy combined with a highly constrained foreign policy. The Cold War began with the Truman administration's Eastern European "litmus test," in Melvyn Leffler's phrase, and the dissolution of the Soviet empire in the region was the Cold War's denouement. In many respects, Eastern Europe has served as the Cold War in microcosm, and Krebs' history of strategy toward Eastern Europe under Eisenhower is an important and impressive contribution to our understanding of the early Cold War. With its last chapter on the implications of the study for international relations theory, this is a book with interest for political scientists as well as historians.

Provocative
This is not the type of book I would normally pick up and read. I chanced upon it at this site and eagerly awaited it's release. I was not disappointed. The arguments were well thought out and ideas presented in a clear, concise manner. I would like to thank the author for the experience and look forward to reading his next published material.

Eastern Churches: A Brief Survey
Published in Paperback by Oriental Institue Pr (1999)
Author: Ronald Roberson
Amazon base price: $15.00
Used price: $10.50
Average review score:

Top Notch
Easy to understand, clearly written, extremely well organized. This book gave me a fantastic introduction to the Eastern Churches, which I am ashamed to admit were thoroughly muddled in my mind, despite six years of theological study. It doesn't go into great depth, but the bibliography provides excellent resources for those who want to do so, and in this internet age he provides internet addresses for those churches that have official sites. It's a fantastic introduction, and a great reference resource after that.

Best survey of Eastern Churches available
This is the most comprehensive and systematic presentation of the eastern christian churches I have ever seen. It clearly explains the differences between Eastern Catholics, Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, and the Church of the East. It also gives basic statistical data on each, and explains how they are related. I've had to research through dozens of other texts just to get at some of the information that is all neatly packaged in this book. Its an excellent resource for pastors, theologians, and anyone interested in understanding the Eastern part of the Christian world.

An excellent overview...
This book provides an excellent overview of the historic Eastern Churches, both Catholic and Orthodox, Byzantine and non-Byzantine. It is arranged along the lines of historical spiritual patrimony. For example, all the Byzantine Churches are grouped together, as well as all the Antiochean Churches, Alexandrian Churches, etc... Don't worry if you don't understand the differences, the author explains it quite well.

Each Church is given its own entry, and the author provides a brief overview of its customs, patrimony, liturgy, history and spirituality. From the Orthodox perspective, all the main branches are covered such as the Greek and Russian Orthodox and those Orthodox Churches in communion with them, the Oriental Orthodox, the Assyrian Church of the East, and the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia.

As a Catholic canonist who is often called upon to identify particular Orthodox Churches because of my interest in East-West ecumenism, I find this book an essential resource for my library.

From a Concerned Teacher/Parent
"I have worked for 10 years with public school students who have Emotional Behavior Disorders (EBD), at the elementary, middle and high school levels. I wish I had read "Emotional Honesty & Self-Acceptance" when I was in graduate school as it is tremendously useful in working for EBD students. I am generally disappointed with affective materials available to use with these students, as exercises and activities are often superficial, and kids know it. The concept of emotional honesty is simple to understand and rings true. It is truly a helpful tool when communicated appropriately, which Ron Brill does quite effectively in his book. The information is here to use or not use according to the readiness of the individual facing emotional stumbling blocks. This book can also help support and maintain the emotional health of teachers as well. It has certainly been personally very helpful to me. Many of my students told me up front that they were desperate to find something that could actually make some difference in the misery they face every day. The anger and depression present in most students seems so overwhelming and crippling, no wonder teachers and counselors are also unprepared for the emotional distress that pervades our schools. Many families are also overwhelmed to the point they also need emotional health education adocated in this book. It is simply one of the most important books I have ever read. The author presents so much potentially threatening material in a non-threatening way that it is easy to accept. This is a simple but powerful repair tool for complex emotional/behavioral problems we all face today."

Excellent Resource for Teachers and Parents
In his book Emotional Honesty, Ron Brill contributes to our basic understanding of human emotions. This readable book will be of enormous value to classroom teachers, parents, and others who live or work with children/adolescents because the author carefully explains the distinctions between "healthy"--and the more common "unhealthy"--manner in which we deal with our own feelings as well as the feelings of others around us. In light of our nation's current inability and/or unwillingness to meet the emotional needs, issues, and problems of millions of our children, I believe that this book provides an excellent basis for individual and group study and reflection.

Emotional Honesty and Self-Acceptance
Ronald Brill's Emotional Honesty & Self Acceptance is an excellent resource for everyone, especially those working with children. The strategies in this book helped me turn "wounds into wings" with hurt high-risk teens in a community school. I have witnessed angry, self destructive, depressed and suicidal teens turn around and express their internally trapped hurt and sad feelings in a safe place, the classroom.

Fables and Other Oddities of the Imagination

It Stands Alone
This short story collection stands alone in today's market place. It transports one into another realm, the realm of the absurd, the whimsical, the improbable, and the other worldly. It defies the boundries that surround our ordinary reality, and takes us on a surreal journey through some very dark subject matter.

I definitely enjoyed reading this little offering... And would suggest it to all and sundry. Especially if you're in the market for something different, something along the lines of Kafka or perhaps H.G. Wells.

Fables and other Oddities of the Imagination
Review by Annette Gisby editor of Twisted Tales and author of Silent Screams, and Writing the Dream: Like any short story collection, there are some that you really love and some you're not so keen on and some that you find a little interesting. My favorite stories in this collection included 'The Magic Bicycle' about a young boy's yearning to escape his real life existence where his mother goes off with any man who will pay and a father who uses his fist and a raised voice to get what he wants in life. The boy dreams of a magic bicycle which will take him away from everything and when one day the bicycle magically appears, he gets taken away, but not in the way that he intended. It's very reminiscent of a fairy tale and you feel for the boy and his plight. 'The Confession' was excellent, about a man writing in his cell, convinced that he couldn't possibly have committed the crime he's been accused of and soon will die for. As his written confession goes on, you're invited into the mind of a madman, who even till the end professes his innocence. Did he do it or not? In 'The Village' a man searches for and thinks he has found paradise, but is he the one who has brought corruption to them? All in all, a good little collection of stories, tales to dip in and out of and read again.

A Gripping And Exciting Read By This Talented Writer...
If you are into HORROR reads well then you are in for a real treat-- "Fables And Other Oddities Of The Imagination" by talented writer Ronald Dondiego will provide you with several very suspensful and gripping tales of unimaginable horror! A real thrilling and entertaining read.

Face to Face: Praying the Scriptures for Intimate Worship

Best of Boa's Prayer Books to Date
This prayer book is the best all around prayer book for daily personal (or even family)use. The Scriptures are addressed back to God and arranged by category (with direction to add certain categories of requests inbetween the sections). This adds structure to ones prayer life and breaks the monotony of "grocery list" praying. This one is a little longer than, "Praying the Scriptures for Spiritual Growth" or the "Simple Prayers" books; in my own personal devotions, it takes me about 7 minutes per daily prayer segment.

Boa has written several prayer books, all great, all solid. This is my favorite to date.

ENTER INTO A NEW PLACE OF PRAYER AND WORSHIP
Many times when we pray we don't know where to get started, what to do, many times we just want a deeper prayer life.

This book will scripturally guide you through praying...not only the scriptures, but will guide you in praying for your world around you. It begins with praise and worship of Almighty God, leads you in a confession of Who He is, then guides you through personal renewal, petitions, intercession, and then a prayer of thanksgiving.

One of the things I liked best about this book was that it started out with each section, declaring the Word of God, then it guides you (differently each day) to pray for your leaders one day, your family the next, that you will be a faithful steward of your time and money, for God's wisdom...the list goes on and on.

Both this book and "Praying the Scriptures for Spiritual Growth" are two of the best prayer/devotional books I have ever used. If I could only keep two, these would be the two I would keep. Not only are they easy to follow, they are taken directly from the Word of God.

Wonderful way to focus your prayer time.
Face to Face is a wonderful tool to help you pray. Boa has assembled scripture into eight sections for each day. You pray through scripture for Adoration, Confession, Renewal, Petition, Intercession, Affirmation, Thanksgiving and Closing. It helps you focus and it gives a marvelous sense of the completeness of God's word. I do not recommend very many books but this is one that I would recommend to anyone. I have already given away 20 copies.

A hidden world in the Gila
This book is simply the best available for southern New Mexico, and one of the bext of its type. Very comprehensive. It's clear that the author has actually been to and caught fish at the many remote spots he describes, over a period of many years. If you are even thinking of visiting the remote mountains of southern New Mexico, this is for your bookshelf

A great book for a beautiful area.
I have been a fly fisherman from time to time over the last ten years or so, and I lived in the Southwest from 1977 until 1998. My family returned to the area for a vacation and re-visited the Gila National Forest last summer, equipped with a lot of fishing gear and Rex's book. FFSNM seemed to bring the Gila's trout streams to life. This book is a kind of "sleeper'. Not many people have read it, but it's a good example of quality outdoing quantity. A lot of really good things in this world, like this book, remain overlooked, but that's probably fortunate in this case, because, like Rex Johnson, Jr., I liked having the Gila all to myself.

Extremely informative, and a good read.
This is a great book. It's as much a piece of literature as a book about fishing..

Makes a GREAT wedding gift?
If you're looking for a very practical, solidly Catholic , down-to-earth guide to marriage and/or raising children (i.e. Parenting with Grace...), Gregory Popcak's books are for you. He has a solid foundation in Catholic theology and a real talent for writing. His books are easy to understand, highly useful and a delight to read. I especially recommend giving For Better...Forever and Parenting with Grace as a wedding gift to young couples. Such a gift is not only unique, but highly useful and practical. It's a gift that you know will keep on giving in the most important way...bringing Catholic couples and families closer to God's glory.

Very helpful, solid, and wide-ranging
My wife and I have read many practical marriage books in the past few years, and we agree this is hands-down the best. Popcak presents a solidly Catholic foundation for marriage, and fills it out with down-to-earth and thoughtful practical advice.

While many marriage books today tend to concentrate in one particular area, a strength of this book is that it draws from other books with narrower scope (Gottman's "Seven Principles...", Chapman's "Love Languages", etc.) and works them into a more synthesized whole. The best I can say about Popcak's book in comparison is that while I thought those other books were perfectly fine, this one tends to make them look superficial by comparison.

Popcak has a slightly quirky style of occasional wise cracks, but the underlying message is presented with enough care and thoughtfulness that this doesn't detract.

His chapter on vulnerability is really, really, good, and his chapter on the beauty, and wonder of sex should be required reading for people who mistakenly think that Catholics think sex is sinful or bad. Also, his classification of stages of marriage was something we found very insightful and helpful, if painful to consider at times when seeing how we measured up! But even so, it was tremendously helpful in pointing out areas to work hard on.

His exercises at the ends of chapters are generally good, but couples with trouble communicating might want to defer sharing some of them until things improve (such as the one early on about sharing what is annoying about your spouse -- ouch!).

As a bonus, he also provides practical details for how to get help from good, supportive counselors for couples who need that (including himself, via phone!).

Life and marriage changing
Thanks to to Mr. Popcak for the best book I ever had in my hands to help a troubled marriage. This book has many words of wisdom and practical advice for all marriages. Using the applications he gives you, My husband and I are on our way to an even higher level of intimacy than ever before and we have just started to work at it. This book is funny and serious. I enjoyed every word. Many thanks to Mr. Popcak
