Annotated Bibliography of the Work of the Canon Law Society of America, 1965-1980
Published in Paperback by Canon Law Society of Amer (1982)
Author: Richard G. Cunningham
Amazon base price: $4.50
Average review score:

Dated, but still useful to specialists.
This slim book provides a one-stop reference for those researching the work of (mostly) American canon lawyers between the end of Vatican II (1965) to just before the publication of the 1983 Code of Canon Law. The annotations are somewhat uneven in quality, but remain generally useful.

everything is in there, but take it with a grain of salt.
If I had to suggest the purchase of this book I would recommend it. There is almost everything in the book about US antitrust. But some warnings are necessary. It's not for students. It's not for lawyers. Maybe scholars and judges can be interested. The author highlights what is not coherent in the body of untistrust legislation. He provides some solution but that solution turns out to be simple: stay put. On that we can debate, but for sure it's a useful check in the bugs of the system. Given the approach I would have given 5 stars if the author had provided some hints or quantitative analysis to the reader on the effects of some of the Supreme Court decisions on lower Courts and on the current management of antitrust law.

Basic Documents in International Law and World Order (American Casebook Series) (3rd Ed)
Published in Paperback by West Wadsworth (1997)
Authors: Burns H. Weston, Richard A. Falk, Hilary Charlesworth, and Anthony Damato
Amazon base price: $44.00
Used price: $23.65
Average review score:

this is the basic text
There are few books you can describe as "the basic text", but this is certainly one of them. It should be required reading in every international law class in the world, but alas it is only required in a few hundred of the tens of thousands going on an any given time. Weston and his collection of authors are all looking for ways of makikng thhe international legal system a truly functional order for the governance of otherwise anarchic inter-state relations. Weston's pulled together the very best, some of which are classics, and a few of which were really undiscovered until he came along and plucked the writing and his/her writing from academic obscruity. This book need not be the sole province of the law student -- it is equally useful to the current practitoners.

Useful for lawyers who need to learn about business
BUSINESS BASICS is a very comprehensive overview of business issues designed for law students and lawyers. Students taking a basic course in corporations or business associations will find it useful, especially if they lack a business background. It covers not only corporate law, but also such broader topics as insurance, retirement planning, real estate purchases, and the like. Relatively little traditional doctrinal analysis; more an explanation of how business works. Don't think of it as a study aid for your corporations class-think of it as a one volume equivalent of an undergraduate business administration program. On that basis, I highly recommend it.

An excellent casebook on Civil Procedure
This was my casebook for my first-year Civil Procedure class, and although I was not thrilled with the prospects of spending a year sorting through the quagmire of the F.R.Civ.P. this book made life and the rules much easier. If you have a choice as to which casebook to use, I would recommend this one.

Clear coverage of Civil Procedure concepts
CivPro is notoriously the most difficult first-year course. F&P, while not simplifying the material, does help make the material more comprehensible. The authors use a socratic method in the casebook. If you read the case and work through the questions after the case, you should have a pretty good understanding of the case and why the authors included it. They also, and this will kill some who read it unknowingly and skip over notes habitually, hide a LOT of really good info (terrific testbait) in their NOTES. Read the notes. Digest the notes. Learn the notes. Get a decent grade in CivPro.

One for the library
For anyone interested in the scientific side of Forensic science, ie the identification of fibres and bullets and fingerprints by established techniques, this as well as Volumes I and II are excellent reference books. As a student of forensic science, they are great for understanding techniques and for writing those numerous reports. Definitely one for the growing library.
