Powerful new methodology
Linguistic Geometry: From Search to Construction is a remarkable book. It offers hope to solve large complex problems where conventional methods provide solutions that are computationally intractable. The problems in question cover a large area: from military strategies to robot control on the factory floor. As long as the problem may be represented as a kind of a game, where the game pieces move in a real or imaginary multi-dimensional board, using rules expressible via geometrical relations on the board, the Linguistic Geometry (LG) method would cover it. It is interesting to note that while the adversarial pieces are needed for the game model, the notion of the adversary may not be even defined for the original problem. Indeed, as demonstrated in the example of creating repair schedule for the power plants from the book, the adversary may be artificially introduced. Of course, for many problems, such as finding a winning strategy on a battlefield for Air, Ground, or Undersea operations, etc., the friendly and adversarial pieces, game boards and other gaming elements are usually already in place. Thus, the LG methodology would be clearly applicable. Entertainment games would be another such example. The method for finding the winning strategies described in the book is quite ingenious. It originally stems from the heuristics that the Chess grand masters employ to defeat their opponents. The book author, Boris Stilman, spent quite a few years with the longest reigning world Chess champion, Michael Botvinnik, distilling Botvinnik's ideas about how the grandmasters win or loose games, into an elegant mathematical theory which later became the Linguistic Geometry. The book has both theory and plenty of easy as well as medium difficulty examples. If you were interested in the kind of problems mentioned above, it would be worthwhile for you to read the book. For me, it was entertaining as well.

I was a Tech Editor for this book...
This book was a mammoth effort. IE 5 is a very robust web development platform, and to present all the features and particulars of this product is a tall order.

This book offers lots of information to the casual developer as well as a good object model, behavior and XML reference to the hardcore web application developer using IE5.

The examples provided (there is an accompanying CD also) are very portable and may be modified to provide a base code for your web apps.

This is a "must have" as a reference for any developer using IE5.

A childhood favorite
This book about a moose and a bear is a childhood favorite of mine and my sisters'. The relationship between Morris and Borris is very funny. Morris is very silly and Borris is very serious. Borris always gets very frustrated with Morris. However, they always seem to solve their differences and remain good friends in a very funny way. Their relationship reminds me alot of Ernie and Bert from Sesame Street.

Excellent humor for the early grades
How my brother and I enjoyed the Morris and Boris books when we were children. We laughed uproariously. My husband also was a big fan of the series when he was a child. I am happy to see that at least one book of the series is in print.

A Moose and a Bear
I read "Morris Tells Boris Mother Moose Stories and Rhymes" by Bernard Wiseman with my big brother. I liked that book very much. It's very funny. I liked the part where Morris the Moose tells Boris the Bear a story about four bears, putting Boris in the story, of course. The part that made me laugh was when Morris calls Boris a big fat bear in his story, and Boris shouts, "A WHAT???" Morris and Boris are an entertaining duo. I sure hope to have this book some day.

Interesting and timeless
Aleksandr Pika is a great northern anthropologist, and I am greatful that his work has been translated into English. This book is an excellent study of USSR policy as it has affected (and continues to affect) Native Siberians.

Touching, fascinating, realistic
A lesser-known book that strikes a perfect balance between fiction and reality. Krotkov brings us through a journey through the life of Boris Pasternak after he wins the Nobel Prize in literature for "Dr. Zhivago" with real-life characters and events. "The Nobel Prize" reveals much about the Dr. Zhivago in Pasternak and how this man is trapped by history and his own beliefs. Touching and fascinating.

Pet-Oriented Child Psychotherapy
Published in Paperback by Charles C Thomas Pub Ltd (1997)
Authors: Boris M., Ph.D. Levinson and Gerald P. Mallon
Amazon base price: $39.95
Average review score:

Levinson is the "father" of modern AAT and its many uses.
As a student learning to become a counselor, I was very impressed with the writing and case studies that Dr. Levinson uses in his writings. It is hard to find good research that lets the professional counselor/student learn more about using AAT with their clients. The reading was on a professional level. yet not so technical that you lose the insight Levinson shows in his theory of using pets in therapy.
