Good Book!!!
I like how this book and all the other books tell how to deal with some of that's in the world. I think Shane is opening up more to the Live! group. This book and the beginning and following books are a must!!! If you read this series you'll find out what's going to happen to Jake and Darby!!! Read this Series!!!

Live!
I though that this book and the rest in the series where one of the best teenage books that I have read. It deals with things that us as teenagers deal with everyday and they try to show other teenagers exactly what is happening in todays world.

This is the only series that Judy Baer has written that I have read but I will defiantely be reading the rest of her books if they are as good as this.

Delightful
My daughter and I love this book. The illustrations are filled with wonderful details, both intriguing and beautifully drawn. The story itself is witty and simple and moves along to draw in even the youngest reader. Highly recommended.

The Essential Catholic Prayer Book: A Collection of Private and Community Prayers (Redemptorist Pastoral Publication)
Published in Paperback by Liguori Publications (1999)
Author: Judy Bauer
Amazon base price: $13.95
Average review score:

Essential Indeed!
This book is a lovely compendium of centuries of Catholic tradition in the form of prayer. The book starts off with an introduction to prayer, why we pray, why we should pray, how prayer is found in both the Old and New Testaments and how we can overcome difficulties to prayer. The book ends with a brief "manual" of ways to pray; whether it be praying at a certain time of day, reflective prayer while studying an aspect of life (be it physical or spiritual), different types of prayer (thanksgiving, intercession, contritiion, etc etc).

Between these two chapters are 250 prayers that are steeped in Catholic tradition. Prayers range from everyday prayers known to every Catholic (Our Father, Glory Be, Hail Mary, Apostles Creed), to prayers to Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, prayers to Mary and the Saints and prayers for specific intentions (for the sick, confessional, before/during/after the Mass). There are a number of devotionals and litanies in the book which I found especially spiritual, as well as some of the more well-known chaplets (prayers using rosary-beads as a structure for the prayer) and novenas.

Overall, this is one of the most complete books I've ever read on the topic of prayer. It was well worth the ... I paid for it, and I've spiritually recouped my expense with the first week of use of this book. For someone who relies on structured prayer, this book will be invaluable and will offer some nice tips and guides to help nurture your prayer life. I would (and do) highly recommend this book for anyone who wishes to deepen their prayer life. I think this book would also make a great gift.

Concise Pleasure
This is a wonderful summarized book of Catholic Prayers. The author has attempted to really include biblical quotes, as well as quotes from Saints and Doctors of the Church. The author uses a wonderful use of ideas on how to pray, and different ways to pray, while stating that it is the reader's preference of prayer that is best. The chapters discuss the following:

Basic Prayers, Morning Prayers, Daily Prayers, Evening Prayers, Prayers Before Mass, the Order of Mass, Prayers Before Communion, After Communion, After Mass, Before Confession, After Confession, to Jesus Christ Crucified, to the Sacred Heart, to the Holy Name, to the Child Jesus, for Divine Mercy, to the Holy Eucharist, to the Holy Spirit, the Blessed Trinity, Prayers to the Mary, Saints Prayers to Mary, Prayers to Mary Under Special Titles, Devotions, Prayers for Personal Needs, for Particular Groups, for Holidays, Prayers for the Sick, Dying, and Deceased, Prayers for Saintly Intercession, to the Holy Angels, for Friends and Family, for Special Intentions, and lastly the brief manual of ways to pray.

I highly recommend this book!

For the Film Director in Your Life
Judy Stone's book is a wonderful read even if you think you don't recognize all of the director's she interviews. She has a way of interacting with the people she interviews, of getting them to talk about what really matters to them, that is truly remarkable. I can't imagine a film buff or would-be director who wouldn't love this book.

Brilliant collection of vital interviews with great artists
``Eye on the World'' is a ``multipurpose'' work -- for anyone interested in the movies, it's a must-read, but also a splendid collection of interviews that provide insight into life, love and the whole damn thing -- far, far beyond the confines of just one branch of art.

Stone's elegantly simple style and her total focus on the interviewees combine for an outstanding volume that is hard to put down, easy to pick up again and again.

Love this book
My Son is 19 months old and he LOVES this book! We first checked it out from the library, but we HAD to buy it, he like it so much.

A beautiful book of children
This book is a beautiful journey for your baby and preschoolerabout all those body parts that they love to identify- ears, and noseand toes etc. Further, the illustrations are large and inviting. The most wonderful part of this book is that the children are black and white and asian- they all have noses and ears and eyes, but they don't all look alike. The children look like all of us- different and beautiful. This book conveys more then where your nose is- through illustrations, it introduces and reinforces for our children that everyone is different and that these differences are beautiful and important END

Understanding the subject of FAITH
Faith is a subject that is misunderstood or not understood at all. Judy brings a fresh and enlighting understanding to the subject of Faith. The book shows a maturity in her faith level and this shows in how she explains faith. She makes it simple and I use this book on a daily basis as a devotional reading a chapter each morning. It is an easy reader but yet brings the reader to a solid foundation for their faith. If you are seeking truth about faith, and how to live and walk by faith, this is a book for you. I found this book to bring me into a
balance with what faith is and how to apply it to my life.

Faith-Does It Really Move Mountains?
In the case of Judy Baus, yes it does! I have known Judy and her husband Vic for several years. Judy talks the talk, and walks the walk, the walk of faith that is.

When you read this inspiring book you cannot help but to have some of the inspiration rub off on you. Judy and Vic travel and share as Good News Ministries and this book helps explain her strength. Buy it for today, for yourself or someone that you Love.

Festivals, Family and Food
Published in Paperback by Hawthorn Pr (Hawthorn House) (1996)
Authors: Large J., Diana Carey, Cornelie Morris, and Judy Large
Amazon base price: $18.95

Nicely organized-
I was looking for a book exactly like this one. It is organized by Seasons and Holidays, with songs, stories, crafts and recipes that relate to the season/holiday. It is very easy to come up with nice additions to your family celebrations with this book. The holidays tend to be European Christian holidays, which is different than the typical American holidays, but not so much that you can't work in many of the activities in the book. Plus, you may discover new holidays. We have added Michealmas to our celebrations- it is a great way to distract my kids so that we don't have to start Halloween in September!

Celebrating Festivals Binds Together Families
I found my copy of this book in a thrift store and soon had friends asking where to buy the book. It is a gem of information about holidays and how to celebrate them, including recipies (I baked the Autumn Nut Loaf for Thanksgiving this year) and games and songs. It's presented in an interesting and lovely manner, and even has a Birthday Calendar in the back to keep track of family and friend's birthdays. The author's premise is that the more celebrations and festivals you celebrate with your family, the closer you become. I second this opinion and urge you to read this book and start celebrating!!!

An excellent book
this book is sensitively written and full of fascinating details, which bring the history alive.

A veteran's view
This book kept my interest cover to cover. Lawrence Cane is obviously the epitome of a soldier and family man, the essense of the American service man in W.W. 2. From basic training thru the occupation of Germany,he was a man who had not only to fight for his place in the war ,but then to fight the war from the first wave to hit the beach on Normandy,to the liberation of the concentration camps, to time spent in the rebuilding of Germany in Eisleben.

This sequel's just as funny as First Day Jitters!
Mrs. Sarah Jane Hartwell is back, in this sequel to "First Day Jitters." On the first day of school, she sets up a mailbox for her students and the rest of the school staff to post letters to her. As the year unfolds, via the letters, the reader learns of all the important adventures and learning that occur in her classroom during her first year of teaching. There's the disastrous field trip, the unexpected visits from the firefighter, the observations by the principal, and the problems with snacks and classroom pets. The full color illustrations expand the detail offered in the letters. Some of the letters are shown in their childish handwriting, and there is a huge improvement in penmanship skills between the beginning and the end of the year. The others are typeset, which makes the reading easier. This is a delightful sequel, just as funny as the first book. Read First Day Jitters to a class during the first week of school, then save this one to read to the same group during the last week of school. Students and teachers will all wish they could be in Mrs. Hartwell's class!

Another great book for teachers.
FIRST YEAR LETTERS is a great sequel to Julie Danneberg's best selling FIRST DAY JITTERS. Filled with humor, charm and wonderful illustrations this is a must for teachers, especially those who wonder if they'll ever survive that first year of teaching! I had the opportunity to hear Ms. Danneberg read FIRST YEAR LETTERS to teachers at an International Reading Association conference and they LOVED it. The line to get copies autographed went on and on....
