I loved this book. It was interesting and kept my attention throughout. I feel it is a must for parents dealing with children on the Autism Spectrum.
As we all know none of our children in the autism spectrum are the same. The boy in this book was more "severe" as a child than my son, but it still gave me a better understanding into why and how my child thinks. Although never explicitly stated in the book it gave me insight to easily find ways to ask my son questions as to why he does certain things. I never would have understood certain issues about my child for lack of a good way to ask my son questions about his problems & confusion had it not been for this book! The book also comes with a happy ending and good closure to this inspiring man's journey living with Autism. Even if you are not a parent or educator with a child on the Autism Spectrum, I think you would find this book interesting and worth the read. As the Author grows, his determination to succeed is inspiring for anyone.

Having a son on the spectrum myself, I found this book to offer such a genuine perspective into the mindset of both the parent and the child. In particular, having the added insights and explainations of Sean Barron, himself, in reference to the often bizarre and seemingly unexplainable behaviors that are associated with autism, gave me a unique new set of eyes to see my son through. What a gift this,is in terms of the insight it provides and the hope it inspires.

I teach children with a variety of behavioral handicaps, and this book explains the behaviors of children with autism from the point of view of the parents and the child himself as well as any I have ever read.

This is an excellent book with great illustrations along with the words. This book is cute and somewhat educational for the toddler/pre-school age kids. It is fun to read and especially fun to bring out after a day at Portland International Raceway for the GI Joe 200.

It's a great guide book of PENTAX screw mount lenses. If you were a collector of PENTAX Lenses, you should take this book.

Many books have been written about the little Pentax camera. Most scratch the surface of facts about the camera and lenses and come laden down with fluff material about general photography. This book is different. It concentrates on the Pentax screw-mount cameras and lenses made from 1952 to 1977 and covers nearly everything there is to know.

Both the casual user and compulsive collection curator alike will find this book riveting. Nearly every item is illustrated in quality photographs. The book is written by a very dedicated collector but still remains objective, pointing out shortcomings where appropriate, strengths and other positive attributes where they are found. Even though most screw-mount gear is compatible across a wide model range, the author cites a number of compatibility issues that may prevent an unsuspecting photographer from suffering expensive damage to camera or lens.

For the collector interested in completing an array of Pentax gear, this book provides a road-map. From the most exotic devices like the Nocta night-vision photo attachment, to the most mundane filter, it's all here. In one sitting I learned that several items in my Pentax system were less common than I would have thought; the mystery of a seemingly mismatched lens hood was solved; unaccountable differences between two lenses thought to be identical were revealed like an x-ray.

The author solicits input, a very refreshing opportunity to contribute to the vast amount of info about this very influential camera marque. As with many books in their first printing, and especially technical works translated from another languages, this book has a number of forgivable errors, mainly typographical.

If you want to learn how to make photographs with Pentax cameras you are not going to get much help here. If you have a mercenary interest in the value of Pentax gear, this book will not help - there are no dollsr-values applied to the gear - in and of itself a redeeming quality in my opinion.

Serious collectors and erstwhile dreamers will want this book in their collection. Well worth the price of admission!

I had read 30 different books on Autism and related topics, before I read "When Your Doctor is Wrong,...". Her book was a validation of everything that all those other books left out. Finally someone looked at the one shot I knew was our problem Hep B. I got the book in the mail on a Friday, and finished it before going to sleep on Friday night. I felt like our families knew each other in the similarities. You hear so much about the MMR or the DPT, finally Judy gives us a clue to what may be triggering ALL of the others. Or, we may have to look at the possibility that different vaccines cause reactions in different children. For the first time, a book on Autism left nothing out that affected us. I always knew that the Hep B caused my daughters problems but no one else has mentioned it. I cried when I realized that five months of screaming as an infant was "NOT" colic. Judy's indignant anger shows through, yet is controlled, reasonable and above all understandable. Despite everything this family endured they also kept a healthy sense of humor. When you hear her story, you can relate to the treatment parents receive when doctors think they are right but you know they are wrong, because our gut instinct as a mother tells us so. Then she gives ideas on how to help your child to recover as best as possible, and the necessity of early diagnosis and intervention to have the greatest affect. This is a great read, like a mystery and adventure, but, it is a true story and on one of the most important topics of our day. Nice to get some validation from not just a parent but a professional in her own right with the knowledge we REALLY need to help our kids. This book helped me make discovery's and come to grips with my situation, other conditions and situations in my family and a new approach to everything, not just the Autism. Thanks to the author for doing this so well.

This book is a must for anyone who feels alone and helpless because they can't get answers to questions about their child's developmental problems, for anyone who has been intimidated by health professionals, and for all parents who want to take responsibility for keeping their children safe and healthy! When I have time to pick up the book, it is very hard to put down. It's well-written, fascinating, and heart-wrenching. I feel very angry at what this family has been subjected to, but I admire Judy for her persistence and devotion to her son.

"When Your Doctor is Wrong" is an unbelievable journey through early parenthood following an adverse reaction to the Hepatitis B Vaccine. It tugged at my emotions - I felt angry and incredibly sad at the unfair blow dealt to Judy's family. It challenged me intellectually - what did I know about the Hepatitis B Vaccine and the epidemiology of Hepatitis B? It inspired me to ask questions and look critically at the issue of vaccine safety. All parents-to-be, all parents and all health care professionals involved in the care of infants should read this book. A book that took incredible determination and courage to write. Congratulations, Judy!

I obsessed over this book wile I was pregnant and finally bought it for my daughter's second birthday (it was really for me). She's 2 and half and, although she isn't coordinated enough to really do a whole lot on her own, we have great fun with this book. She pulls it down from the bookshelf herself and looks through it. The illustrations are great and the instructions are easy enough for an adult to follow. I delegate the gluing and some coloring to her and we discuss shapes and colors--as well as letters and numbers-- while assembling the pieces. While not all (but most) of the materials are easily found around the house, I have found the ones that aren't in dollar and discount stores for next to nothing. She loves watching ordinary household items like an empty toilet paper roll transform into an alligator with some tape, a marker, scissors, green paper and glue. Her eyes light up like I'm performing magic. I have read, in teachers' journals and the like, that children retain information better when it is presented in a way that emotionally impacts them. For myself and my child, this book was well worth it, and I intend to look into some other titles by this author and from Williamson. Publishing.

Each letter has specific crafts, tracings, writings, etc. It is a great learning tool. I have found it to be the best book for dealing with the alphabet.

My kids (ages 2 and 4) absolutely love the crafts suggested in this book. They were able to do most of the crafts themselves without difficulty. There was a pattern to the activities that they both also enjoyed.

What a great kicker for the middle of the day - opening this book and getting an histerical glimpse into my fellow man- and woman-kind - their wild and weird behaviors and habits. The best chuckles I've had all month.

Final words on the subject - Great stress reliever. Gotta have just for the laughs. (Wouldn't I have LOVED to been on that book's research team!)

Another thing I found fascinating was this book is designed to be read as little or as much as your schedule will allow. You will be glad to hear there is no set age limit in reading this book. Its content will be well received by anyone from the ages of 6-106.

Laughter is one of the key elements required to deal with life's everyday struggles. I feel this book is just what the doctor would order to ensure you have a double dose of happiness to add to your daily life.

Intended for mirth and amusement, yet at the same time absolutely true, And I Thought I Was Crazy! cheerfully embraces the bizarre little mannerisms and habits that help us cope. This book makes for good light reading, especially for amateur students of human nature.

I recently discovered "The Angel Book." It is a joy to read. Karen Goldman has a way of bringing heaven to earth. Read this book and then give it to a friend.

I have purchased this book 6 times and still don't own a copy myself. Everytime I get it I end up giving it away. This is one to share, with anyone that needs inspiration, anyone who is celebrating an acheivement, anyone dealing with tragedy or loss, or anyone who you think is an angel in your own life.

Whether religious or not, this book opens your eyes to the possiblity that the person next to you is an angel. And, with luck, you'll follow the lead of the angels in your life, and become an angel too!

This book offers quick rotary cut block patterns that will inspire you. All blocks are offered in several size options and diagrams explain how to construct the bolcks quickly and easily. A good investment, you will find yourself reaching for this book time and again. My advise is don't loan it as it will probably not come back!

As a beginning quilter I love this book! I use the templetes all the time and have no problems figuring out how to finish or use the blocks I make. I love the different sizes for the blocks as well. My only problem as a beginner is making my blocks come out at exactly the size they are supposed to. I'll keep working at it! :-)

Judy Hopkins once again provides quilters with a wonderful selection of blocks, including from easy to the very unique. Combining traditional blocks with rotary cutting techniques. I liked the variety, the basic instructions, as well as the color and black/white illustrations of each block. The advice on "Planning Your Quilt" though brief, is informative. I think beginner as well as advanced quilters will enjoy this book. However, beginning quilters will need other references to finish their quilts.

This is the book to have if you're (mainly) interested in Art Deco pieces. The Art Deco was one of the most innovative periods of the 20th century and Cartier really showed the pieces at their best. I love the so-called "Tutti-Frutti" bracelets. Cartier really knew how to use the various cuts to its full potential and set in platina definately had a magical finish. Some pieces have had illustrous owners. When you buy this book, you are almost obliged to buy "Famous Jewellery Collectors", as these two books go practically hand in hand. Most of these famous collectors were very active (in buying) in the Art Deco period.

Excellent book for jewelry collectors and admirers. Book provides history of Cartier and a great insight into period, which makes it a lot of fun to read. It is a valuable resource for anyone interested in Art Deco jewelry. Gorgeous pictures.

If gems and the fine art of the jeweler are your passions, this book is for you. Yes, it's expensive, but it's worth it. The photos (mostly in color) are utterly sumptuous and the text is intelligent, informative and thorough. All in all, a banquet of elegance and unfailing fine taste.

Having first gotten to know The White Dog Cafe in my frequent meals there during college, I was delighted (understatement) to find that the restaurant had its own cookbook. The book, which is a solid thickness with plenty of recipe options, is one of my very favorites. There are items that are more complicated and others that are perfect for a backyard BBQ. Variety being key and inside bits of information adding to the richness of this book. For instance, in a recipe calling for fresh artichokes, the page would give you a little information on cleaning fresh artichokes. The kind of background many cooks need and most cookbooks neglect to offer. I would give this cookbook a five-star rating, but I am allergic to about 25% of its recipes so I can't say how great those are. Those I've tried, however, are yummy (never any leftovers) and popular with kids and adults alike.

I own lots of cookbooks (over 200) and the White Dog Cafe cookbook is one of my favorites. I have tried about half of the book's recipes and have never been disappointed. The recipes are interesting, using ingredients that non-professionals can find easily. The techniques are easy and the food is very tasty. The food is also creative and can be made (even for the first time)without a household staff of 12! The White Dog Cafe's Black Bean Soup is the only version I really like and I have made it several times. The social philosophy of the authors is an added bonus.

I use this Cook Book all the time when I want to prepare a special meal without much effort or fuss. The White Dog Cafe Cookbook has never failed me: all of the recipes I've tried yield yummy food with a bit of a kick.

The White Dog Cafe is a progressive and socially-responsible restaurant in Philadelphia. While I've never eaten there, the next time I'm out that way I'm going to give it a try because the recipes here are so excellent.

The Soups, Salads and Light Meals, Main Courses, and Desserts sections are the ones I use most often. The Soups are fantastic. I'm a real soup lover, and am always looking for new and (more exciting) soups to try. Our favorites are the Sweet Potato and Lemon Grass Soup with Peanut Pesto (a Vietnamese-inspired dish), the Curried Aplle Bisque, and the French Mushroom Soup. The salads are equally impressive, especially the Warm Mushroom Spinach Salad which always wins great praise at dinner parties. Many of the main courses require demi-glace (kind of a pain) but the Chicken and Mushrooms in Marsala-Sage Sauce is excellent, as is the Rosemary-Mustard London Broil with Wild Mushroom Glaze. In desserts the Apple-Cranberry Deep-dish Streusel Pie has become a Thanksgiving tradition, and the Milk Chocolate Cream Pie will please all chocolate lovers, kids, and kids at heart.

I don't think you will be disappointed if you buy this book, but will turn to it again and again.
