A simple and true Russian cookbook
All Russian cookbooks are not created equal. This is a real simple and true Russian cookbook. Great for beginners who want to try out Russian dishes without having to read lines and lines of explanation. The recipes are very easy to follow and they are tasty. Also, this tiny book also comes with nice illustrations and looks nice in the bookshelf. A nice introductory book to Russian food

Nude Men seen through the camera of a Woman
Finally an artistic book on a subject where sex/gay eroticism is the usual! Vera, a woman photographer, shows us her men with art, from head to toes with a lot sensibility. She plays with the shapes and shadows without been vulgar anytime and proves that you can show something artistic without showing it all. One of the best book on the subject for black & white lovers!

CHILDHOOD MEMORIES
THIS IS THE FIRST BOOK I CAN REMEMBER CHECKING OUT OF THE LIBRARY WHEN I WAS MUCH YOUNGER. I READ IT ALL THE WAY THROUGH I REMEMBER IT BEING SPELL BOUNDING AS A YOUNSTER. I HAD A BEST FRIEND I STARTED ELEMETARY SCHOOL WITH NAMED MARIO WHICH REMINED ME OF HIM AND THERE WERE MANY ALLEY'S IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD JUST AS IN THIS BOOK. BUT NOT AS BAD. MY GRANDPARENT'S HAD A HUGE MIMOSA TREE IN THEIR BACK YARD IN BOSCO, LOUISIANA WHERE I GREW UP AT JUST SOUTH OF MONROE. NOW THAT I AM 42. I WANTED IT TO ADD TO MY FIRST EDITION SIGNED BOOK COLLECTION. I GUESS I HAVE BECAME A BIBLIOFILE. THANKS JIMMIE D. LENARD

You must have this book!
How lucky we are to have Veronica Vera. She is our muse, our every-woman, full to bursting with warmth and radiant sexuality. Her wonderful book gives expression to the feminine self so many of us have fought to deny, and encourages us to explore and be happy. This is sex-positive writing at its best.

Ms. Vera offers us a humorous and intelligent book. The practical information given is mixed with her experiences of working with gender explorers of all stripes (and there are a lot of stripes out there!). The exploration of their true sexual nature and Ms. Vera's guidance not only offers encouragement, it makes a good read. And the tips are invaluable, commenting on everything from shoes to support groups (probably support hose as well).

My recommendation is that you purchase this book immediately. It will brighten your day. It will make you happy to be a woman and provide you with the inspiration to express your joy and sexuality more openly. We brighten the world when we venture forth from our over-stuffed closets.

Music for Patriots, Politicians, and Presidents: Harmonies and Discords of the First Hundred Years

Invaluable resource for scholars/teachers of music/history
I'm trying to get a copy of this book for my own library because I keep referring to it so often. If you teach history and are looking for a way to make it come alive for your classes, try this book (if you can get it--check a good university library). You will find songs that the patriots sang during the Revolutionary War, songs from the Civil War, and songs from presidential campaigns. The pictures are invaluable, gleaned from libraries by the author, a renowned historian in this area. This huge book covers a large time span, but doesn't spare the details that make history "live" in a different era. I think this book is a must for anyone entering the interdisciplinary field in a serious way.

My "o" Sound Box : Sound Box Library Series

Authors: Jane Belk Moncure and Vera Gohman

Alphabetical fun with the letter "o"
"My 'o' Sound Box," written by Jane Belk Moncure, is a fun book for beginning readers. Colin King's humorous, colorful illustrations complement the simple story.

In the book, a little boy known simply as "o" rounds up a group of animals, all of whose name's begin with the letter "o": octopus, otters, ostrich, etc. He takes them home for some play time.

Although all of the "o" words in the main story have a short "o" pronunciation, the author includes a supplement of words that begin with an "o" that is pronounced long: okra, opal, ocean, etc. Each word has an accompanying illustration.

The author and illustrator do an effective job of focusing on a single letter of the alphabet. This book is both entertaining and educational.

Nazism Resistance & Holocaust in World War II: A Bibliography

A Comprehensive and Complete Evaluation and record
Vera Laska's works are always informative and instructional, and this book, although long out is worthy of inclusion within the historiography of the second World War. Understanding the internal mechanisms and resistance to Nazism, and the daring people who challenged tyranny is made less difficult in this book. I recommend it as a teaching tool and a chronicle of just how far men and women will go to contest evil.

Notebooks of the Mind: Explorations of Thinking

A must read for people interested in creativity and thinking
"What is thinking?" That is the question with which author Vera John-Steiner opens this definitely thought-provoking book. It is a tall order to fill, but she does so both with insight and eloquence by studying experienced, productive thinkers. I have read this book twice because it is so full of gems I could not seem to collect them all in one visit. One of the biggest strengths of the book is that it provides the depth needed by academic researchers as well as the accessibility of language and explanation most non-academic readers prefer. She examines how thinking develops, the emotional and intellectual intensity of creative work, the tools creative thinkers use, and the similarities and differences among "languages of the mind" such as words, images, music and models. She bases her ideas on the reflective sources of thinkers themselves more than 100 interviews, plus letters, journals, works in progress, biographies and autobiographies sources which have been neglected by behavior scientists in the past but have proved invaluable for illuminating the succinct, telegrammatic thought processes or "inner shorthands into artistically and intellectually convincing achievements." By using in-depth analyses of these self-reports and "working papers" of great minds in the arts and sciences, John-Steiner shows that creativity (1) requires sustained effort (it is not an instantaneous "aha" as it is sometimes portrayed) and (2) is not a product of "lone genius" but of social scaffolding, interaction and apprenticeship. Creativity, like this book, is a journey of wonder, exploration, evaluation and novel ideas that is well worth taking.
