Wonderful as literature, misleading as history.
This book deals with the times of Richard III, perhaps the most contraversial of English kings. More describes him as a dark villain without a conscience, who set before himself a desire of the crown and waded through a sea of blood of his innocent victims to get it. Even though this book is titled "The History", it cuts off abruptly in the sixth month of Richard's two-year reign. But there are plenty of pages on which to tell us of his evil deeds, namely, the killing of eight people that stood on his way and that most horrible of all the crimes that he is charged with- the murder of his two nephews, the true heirs to the throne. This work was pronounced by some historians as the contemporary account of Richard's reign, and made them believe that if Sir Thomas More wrote it, it must be all true. But there is always room for reasonable doubt. This book was written in 1513 when More was just a young lawyer, not yet knighted, canonized, or recognized as "the most honest man". In fact, he was only seven when Richard died- not old enough to form social opinions of his own. His book is heavily biased since he spent his childhood in the household of John Morton, Richard's enemy and traitor, and therefore heard numerous rumors and only the evil about the king. More is said to have done a research before writing, talking to many people. Since the Tudor dynasty was now in power, who had less claim to the throne than Richard, it was treason to speak in praise of him(a historical fact). Many things in More's book are inaccurate. He states, for instance, that King Edward IV died at the age of 52, when in fact he was only 40. He also says that Richard's left shoulder was higher that his right, while historian John Rous, writing 23 years earlier(a true contemporary!), says vise versa. More is also the first one to "give" Richard a witheres arm eventhough Rous does not mention it at all. Furthermore, More states that James Tyrrel, who was paid by Richard to kill the two princes, was knighted by the king after performing that deed. But Tyrrel was knighted 13 years before by Edward IV for courage in battle. Apparently Thomas More's "sources" were not all that reliable; and seeing the falsification of such undisputable facts as the age of Edward IV at his death would make one wonder if the rest of this dark "history" is true, undoubtedly coming from the same sources.

Financial Accounting
This is a standard textbook with very little interest. While it presents a comprehensive, complete set of reference material, it does so in a very uninteresting fashion that does not keep the author interested, and thus, does not promote learning.

A small Bible portable, small letters....
the text size on this one makes it very hard to read. This bible comes with a magnifying glass which makes it easier than squinting, but not as convenient as I thought it would be. As for the content of the book, what can I say, it is the Bible, you take it for what it is. If you've got 20/20 vision then I suggest you get this bible.

Holy Bible and the family lighting the way NKJV
I was expecting to view the Bible on line at least one chapter. So this is not a fair review because I have not seen the Bible yet. However, I do know Kincade's work and absolutely loves it and enjoy it very much. I try real hard to purchase what ever I see his handwork on. So next time allow at least one chapter to be displayed or allowed to come up for view. Thank you for allowing me to get this far.

Too detailed of questions, but the explanations atone for it
Although the questions sometimes get too detailed for purposes of Step 2 - type exams, the explanations are excellent and tend to cover more basic facts. This atones for the occasional question that states, "current research states ..." and puts it in the grasp of most medical students. This is a good book to cover (or at least sample) if you are taking NBMLE shelf exams.

A waste of time, money and paper
What a waste of time, money and 'trees'. The book is badly written with most of the material crudely 'copied' off the MPEG standard documentations. There are many typos (if ya have to plagiarize, at least do a simple spell check!).

simplifying advance video comm.s language
i found this book very good for people working in areas of advance digital application, as even specialising in this area of technology require vast amount of research effort, this at least introduce the essentials and in some cases go well further advance. i think it's brilliant. i happen to come accross it working on a video segmentation project and was glad for the discovery

There are better versions of Le Morte D'Arthur available
There must be hundreds of translations, retellings, and reinventions of Thomas Mallory's works available. Unfortunately, this one is not high on my list of recommendations. Only nine stories are presented here, and many essential tales, such as the "Death of Merlin" and "Tristram and Isode", are omitted completely.

Vinaver's translation is cumbersome because, although he claims to modernize spellings and standardize names, there are still many words and phrases he chooses not to translate, so the reader has to constantly refer to footnotes at the bottom of the page. If I wanted to do all this work, I would have read the original version with no modernization at all!

The only redeeming addition to this book is the preface which discusses the difference between Mallory's version of the Arthurian romance and the French Vulgate Cycle upon which he drew his material. Instead of this edition, I would refer readers to Keith Baines' modern prose edition (ISBN: 0451625676). It contains all the stories and is much easier to read.

As Only A Selection Of Stories, Limited In Its Appeal
Eugene Vinaver is the editor of the standard version of Mallory, "Works." Here he has selected a few of the author's tales, largely the stories leading up to Arthur's death. However, this remains essentially a skimming of Mallory's work, somewhat akin to a condensed version, collected I suspect for academics wishing to teach the Arthurian romances without having to delve too long or deeply into Mallory's entire narrative. As such it provides a glimpse into Mallory's version of the legend, yet remains in part fragmentary---especially the story of Pellas and Ettard---thus limiting its impact.

Also, Vinaver continues his practice from "Works" of footnoting certain words he has chosen not to translate. I found this annoying as I could perceive no apparent reason in his choice not to complete the translation, and though in most cases I was able to interpret their meaning within their context, their footnoting continued to drag my eye to the translation provided at the bottom of the page, interrupting the flow of the narrative. If a credible reason for this practice can be provided, I would love to hear it.

Those who wish to read only what the editor has chosen to highlight in Mallory's tale may be satisfied. For all others, I would direct you to Vinaver's complete edition, "Works."

Awful, horrible, lacking . . .
Don't buy this book. First off, it doesn't include Hebrew-Aramaic and Greek Dictionaries in the back like the Strong's and NASB Concordances. Second and most important, the binding quality is so completely shoddy that it falls apart almost immediately. I had to take mine apart, three-hole punch the pages, and insert them into a binder. Nelson, you guys should be ashamed of yourselves. I'm not buying any more Nelson products.

Very helpful and easy to read concordance
The main use people think of for a concordance is to find the verse reference (book/ chapter/ verse number) for a verse. But a concordance can be invaluable for Bible study. Finding every occurrence of a word in the Bible enables many types of studies to be done. Reading every verse that contains the word "grace," for instance, can help one understand this Biblical concept.

To further help in doing topical studies of the Bible I would recommend my book "Scripture Workbook: For Personal Bible Study and Teaching the Bible." In fact, I used the NKJV Concordance in developing my "Scripture Workbook." It enabled me to find many of the verses I reference in my book.

I also particularly like this concordance as the NKJV is my preferred Bible version. In addition, the print style and format of this concordance make it very easy to read and use, unlike some concordances which have very small and hard to read print.

This book was terrible. By far one of the worst books I've ever read. The story is bland and he manages to make even the greatest tales of arthur boring.

Truly Legendary
Contained within the pages of this book, is the most notorious of all stories to emerge from the depths of the Dark Ages of European history. Sir Thomas Malory's Le Morte d'Arthur is quite possibly the greatest work of English literature and the source of the Arthurian legends, as we know them today. This legendary tale of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table is an exquisite story of adventure, love, honor, and betrayal. Throughout the whole of Malory's story there is the underlying theme that a thing's making is ultimately it's undoing, be it kingdom, man, or quest. Not only is this theme evident in this story but in his own life as well. Le Morte d'Arthur is a truly legendary work of art, given new life in this splendid rendition by Keith Bains.
