Kara Mia: The Story of Sudden Loss & Slow Recovery in a Teenager with Long QT Syndrome
Published in Paperback by Seahorse Pr (1997)
Authors: Maryann Anglim and Walter Allan
Amazon base price: $12.95
Average review score:

helpful as a teaching tool
I have given this book to many people who are going through a health crisis. It speaks universally to the families of loved ones who are going through any sort of chronic illness. If you happen to be a family afflicted by Long QT syndrome, it makes the scientific knowledge of this genetic heart condition easily understood. I have also given this book to my children's teachers and the parents of their friends so that the diagnosis and treatment and day-to-day problems will be more readily understood and not seem as frightening to the adults who are in daily contact with my children.

Like Butter on Pancakes

Do the pajama dance!
London captures the imagery of sunlight and moonlight as a child's day unfolds and awakens his senses to the world around him. One can almost hear the duet of the whistle of the teakettle and the sizzle of frying bacon as slippers "whisper" across the kitchen floor. This book begs to be read aloud, again and again. It is sheer poetry.

Lionstone Legacy

Lionstone Legacy
Lionstone Legacy is a wonderfully creative and original story that pulls on the imagination and draws the reader into the middle of a world where magic is real, but dangerous, and evil is alive.

As far back as memory, the Walthers and the Bramwells have battled. Colin Walther seems an unlikely hero at first, but to he will do anything to save his family, and the world.

Not everything, or even most things, are as they seem. Be prepared for some startling revelations in the last few chapers. The ending is satisfying, but leaves just enough loose ends to make me eagerly anticipate the sequel that I hope is soon forthcoming. (Triculo must have a larger part in the sequel, I just know there is more to him than meets the eye.)

Great collection from Oriental mythology
This is it, one of the best compendiums of exotic, fascinating monsters ever produced by TSR! Although perfect for a Kara-Tur campaign, these monsters also work fantastically in a Greyhawk campaign, representing the infringing monsters on the outlands near the Far East - powerful minions (and overlords!) for Oriental-themed classic beasts like the Rakshasa, Ogre Mage, Dragon Turtle and Lung Dragons. 64 pages of pure monsters... a wonderful compendium for any DM looking to intrigue jaded veteran players.

Plain Jane's Plan (How To Marry A Hardison)
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Harlequin (2002)
Author: Kara Lennox
Amazon base price: $4.75
Average review score:

Powerful emotions and Lennox's great writing
Dentist Allison Crane has been in love with way-cute Dr. Jeff Hardison forever, but he thinks they're just best friends. When Allison goes on a bike-riding binge and loses the extra pounds she's been carrying, she thinks maybe he'll notice now--except he doesn't. When Jeff comes up with the idea of pretending to be engaged to Allison so he can stay away from the hungry woman who's been chasing him, Allison doesn't know whether to accept, or slap him in the face. Surely a makeover, with the help of Jeff's sister-in-law Anne, will open his eyes???

Jeff Hardisson knows Allison--she's the girl next door, the neighborhood dentist, and a buddy. So why, all of a sudden, does he feel proprietary when other men at the convention they attend start paying her a lot of attention. Somehow, without his noticing, Allison turned into a babe. Jeff plays the field and has never let himself get tied down. When he looks at Allison, he wonders whether that strategy is really the way to go.

Talented author Kara Lennox has turned out another hot Hardison story. Lennox's trademark sly humor and smooth story-telling are complemented by the emotional distress that Allison goes through as she sees Jeff begin to respond to her just as she learns that she may have cancer. Fans of VIXEN IN DISGUISE will be happy to see Anne and Wade well integrated into this story. This series should be a breakout for Lennox's career.

Sassy Cinderella (How to Marry A Hardison)
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Harlequin (01 December, 2002)
Author: Kara Lennox
Amazon base price: $4.75
Average review score:

Charming with emotional depth
When rancher Jonathan Hardison, his sister-in-law is quick to hire a nurse to help care for him and his children. Jonathan doesn't expect a beautiful blonde who excites him, hits all of his hot buttons, but just might be his worst nightmare as well. Still, when Sherry McCormick walks into his life, he knows that he'll never be the same.

Sherry McCormick came from the wrong side of the tracks and has worked hard to overcome her background. She dresses right, goes for what she wants, and is one heck of a nurse. She's never been able to understand why people back away from her. Now that she's lost her job, she grabs the chance to make a few bucks taking care of a handsome hunk--and his wonderful children. She doesn't anticipate the attraction she feels--nor does she expect Jonathan's love for his children to bring out her own deepest secret. But when emotions start to run high and when physical lust starts to turn to something more, all the bets are off.

In this charming continuation of the Hardison series, author Kara Lennox delivers an emotional roller coaster ride. Sherry is a wonderful heroine with her hard shell and inner vulnerability. Readers will find themselves identifying with the woman who's fought for everything she has and understand the decisions she's made that brought her to small-town Texas. Jonathan, with his love for his children is a moving hero. To bring these two together, Lennox has to dig deep into the emotions. Still, Lennox's humor keeps the book enjoyable and the pages turning.

Many readers have found the HOW TO MARRY A HARDISON series to be a breakout for Lennox and, with SASSY CINDERELLA, it's easy to see why.
