Great for teachers
This book is jam-packed with thoughtful advice for teachers who are teaching about adolescence. As someone who teaches adolescent development in a pre-service teacher education program, I have found it a rich source of ideas for approaches and strategies. I highly recommend it.

The most inspiring book for the new year
Every year, Pope John Paul II selects a preacher for a course of Spiritual Exercises for himself and the Vatican's Roman Curia. For the Jubilee 2000, he chose Vietnamese Archbishop Francis Xavier Nguyen Van Thuan.

I originally read Archbishop Thuan's exercises by way of Zenit - the News of Rome. As compelling as those accounts were, the book is even better. Archbishop Van Thuan's experiences, as a prisoner in Communist prisons for 13 years, and his insight on faith are true food for a hungry soul.

Testimony of Hope is the complete text of those Exercises. Archbishop Van Thuan's description of isolation and abandonment, and his secret for finding hope in despair makes for moving and uplifting reading.

I guarantee that readers will be moved by the 22 meditations. Archbishop Van Thuan offers light amidst the darkness. The book is a quick, easy, and inspirational read.

Theotokos - Woman, Mother, Disciple: A Catechesis on Mary, Mother of God

The Real Deal
This is the fifth volume in a printed series of catechises on the Catholic faith by Pope John Paul II. If you are looking to learn about The Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, then look no further. This book is a compilation of addresses given by The Holy Father on Our Lady. Easy to read because it's a transcript of his addresses, so it reads like the spoken word. Each address is short (most are 3 pages) so it allows for a natural break, allowing the reader to stop and reflect in prayer. Different style than Scott Hahn's "Hail Holy Queen". Deeper and more reflective. A must read for fan's of the Blessed Mother.

Daily Inspiration
"Through The Year With Pope John Paul II" consists of a collection of inspirational thoughts for each day of the year. Each entry consists of a short scripture passage followed by a few paragraphs from a public statement made by His Holiness, either in the first three years of his Papacy or during his priestly service in Poland.

This book is an excellent source of daily spiritual inspiration. Buy it and keep it handy.

The Toy Campain is a exiting book that makes it's point
The Toy Campain is an exciting book but it is not all about magic, John Bibee wanted to show you how greedy we can get and what we do when we are trapped in the desires of this world When children are tricked by desires for toys, all that they think about is getting more they dont care who gets hurt in the attempt. It seems like Susan Kramer is the only one whose mind is still clear. Why is her cousin John Kramer acting so strange? You will have to read it and see.

Tradition and Testament: Essays in Honor of Charles Lee Feinberg

A Fine Tool and a great compilation of theological articles
Dr. Charles Feinburg is a scholar and the people that have contributed articles compiled in this book are outstanding. The book essentially deals with a lot of Old Testament materials. I happen to take interest at John Feinburg's article on "Old Testament Salvation". This book was truly helpful as I was working on a paper for Adavenced Biblical Studies, on the very same topic.

Excellent First Hand Account!
This book is an excellent first hand account of Indian life in the 1700s in Pennsylvania and Ohio. Heckewelder was a Moravian missionary and spy for General Washington in the Ohio country during the Revolutionary war. He goes into great detail about everyday Indian life and how they interacted with other tribes as well as the early settlers. He writes as a reporter of Indian life, what he say & heard between 1762 and 1813 during his extensive travels in early Ohio country (including Marietta, Gallipolis, Cincinnati, Detroit, Pittsburgh and the Moravian Indian towns in Tuscarawas County, Ohio)

The Two Wings of Catholic Thought: Essays on Fides Et Ratio
Published in Hardcover by Catholic Univ of Amer Pr (1903)
Authors: David Ruel Foster and Joseph W. Koterski
Amazon base price: $

Orthodoxy on parade
This is an excellent study of John Paul II's difficult encyclical on faith and reason. Most of the contributions deal with the vexed issue of "Christian philosophy," a much disputed topic in the 1930s which has been given new life by our reigning philosopher-pope. Highlights are the fine essays by Avery Cardinal Dulles, placing the current issues in historical context, and the remrkable essay by David Meconi on the Marian dimension of philosophy.

A convincing argument
Having made up my mind in advance to approach Braham's book with outright scepticism I put it down after reading with a newfound perspective on this troubling issue. The arguments contained within are surprisingly convincing and well-constructed. The book effectively demonstrated to me that many generally-held beliefs about Vatican policy during WWII are based on little more than second-hand and often erroneous information. Difficult to put down, this book is good reading for anyone with an interest in history and politics (whatever your spiritual persuasion).

Informative and enlightening views by American theologians
This book offers some really insightful pieces on the Pope John Paul II's "Veritatas Splendor." Especially thought-provoking was O'Keefe's piece on Augustine and perfectionism. A great resource for those who really want to think through this Vatican document.
