Detailed descriptions of where to go for the best shots, and the best times to go there. For some of the areas, you get a mile-by-mile log, and even some compositional suggestions. Even if one has been to these places previously, this book contains extremely valuable information for the serious photographer.

The words used and the way the story is told keeps the tale alive and interesting for both adults and children. (Adults in particular would enjoy the "knowing way" in which certain descriptions are slipped in.)
Peter Abelard is possibly one of the most misunderstood theologians of the entire High Middle Ages. Unfortunately, he is primarily remembered for his love affair with his equally brillian student Heloise -- and the fearsome revenge exacted upon him by her angry uncle.
It is unfair to remember only this! Abelard was a brilliant theologian and a brilliant teacher at one of the most renowned universities of his day (the University of Paris).
Sic et Non, arguably Abelard's greatest work, is his demonstration (much to the chagrin of the ecclesiastical authorities of his day) that the Early Church Fathers did NOT agree on all issues, and that it was possible (indeed, quite easy) to use the Fathers to argue against the Fathers.
It grieves me that more scholarly attention is not given to Abelard.

As Peter Bassett makes clear "Parsifal" is a work that can be meaningful to adherents of any religion or none. He discusses the roots of Wagner's drama in the Grail legend as it appears in medieval romances; he also explains how the work relates to Wagner's interest in Buddhism.
The book includes a prose translation of Wagner's 1877 German text into modern English. This translation is more literal than rhyming translations such as those made by Andrew Porter or Lionel Salter. The reader will find Bassett's "free translation" useful both for study of the text alone and when listening to a recording of "Parsifal".
I have given copies of this book to others, who thoroughly enjoyed it and they in turn have also given copies of the book to others.
Communication and understanding of what produces desired interaction in this language driven world of ours is looked at critically with some very helpful, easily understandable and useful suggestions and/or ideas.
The reader also learns about how the mind processes information and in so doing assists the reader to tear down walls that separate us as individuals from others in the very human desire to make worthwhile human connection with others.
Enjoy the fun of learning how one's primary/preferred neurological stimulus affects our every day decisions and even the words we primarily use.
I very highly recommend "The Phone Book" by Zarro, et al. to anyone who communicates and desires to do so more effectively. This short, easy read paperback book is packed with facts and information that is a must to all. A true classic!
Like his other books by master teacher Richard Zarro, this is a welcome addition to anyone's library.
