I wouldn't go to Cancun without it!
This is my BIBLE when I go to Cancun. So much care and detail has gone into this map. I learn and find new things all the time using it. It is VERY easy to use and read. If there is one reference you buy before your trip - this should be the one!!!

A map you'll read and re-read before and after the trip!
Yes, I meant to use the term "read" because there is so much additional information on this map that it's not just (GPS accurate) for locations, but it's also informative of what to see and do while in Cancun. I've purchased three copies over the years because I refer to the map before, during, and after my trips to Cancun.

Can-Do Cancun Map
This map, along with the others they publish, is the one thing you must have before travelling to Cancun. It will make your trip so much more enjoyable, because you will never be lost.

This book spoke to me
Awakening the Spirit Within really "spoke" to me! I was looking to purchase another book, when I saw Awakening the Spirit Within. I know of Jan from her previous books and articles and always receive some positive outlook I can apply to my life. This book does the same! It came to me at a much needed time in my life. Each page really speaks out to the spiritual process I am going through and offers wonderful insight to meditate on. I would highly recommend it to anyone. It would make a great gift! The wonderful thing about this book is that you can read the pages out of order, looking for whatever section applies to your life that day. Jan is truly one of the modern-day guru's in spirtual healing.

A Lifetime Companion
Jan Forrest's latest book, Awakening the Spirit Within is a keepsake treasure that can also be called a lifetime companion. This is because her wisdom and spiritual insights are timeless and universal. Her gentle suggestions for connecting with Spirit through everyday life are empowering to all who feel the tug of Spirit but don't know how to respond. Read it from front to back in one sitting or page by page as the mood strikes. Either way, Jan's words are soothing and comforting, inspiring and affirming. The index in the back is especially helpful for specific needs. If you think you are too busy to take time for spiritual sustenance, this book is for you. One minute is all it takes to read one page and be blessed by a shift in perception about some important aspect of your spiritual nature. Ahhhhh!

Awakening the Spirit Within
Jan Forrest did it again! I picked up a copy of Awakening the Spirit Within and did not put it down until I had read each and every page. Page by page, Jan reflects on issues that touch us all and guides us to find our own spirits to deal with each new day. Jan opens the readers eyes and shows them his/her own wings as they learn to fly. Prolific and moving, each page is a lesson on its own, while the book as a whole is a "must have" guide for everyone - male or female!

This book may become your child's favorite....
The illustrations are detailed and helps your child to soound out letter soounds, along with searching throughout the page for everything that begins with A,B,C etc...Which can be challenging for mom and dad too. There is a key in the back to assist you. In other words, this book is fun for your child and the parent. Which is good, because don't be surprised when SHADOWBOXES becomes your child's most requested book. I just wish I coould get some of the pages in poster size.

This is an excellent learning tool for children!
I am a mother of two boys, ages one and three. They love this book! It has rhymes that they can finish, and illustrations that are beautifully done. My youngest son's vocabulary is building because he is naming the pictures on each page. Pre-school through first grade teachers will love using this in the classroom also. It teaches children about rhyming and allows them to identify objects that begin with the same letter. This is an excellent book for families-to-be as well.

Excellent learning tool
My son & I love this book. The illustrations are terrific! I bought copies for all my nieces & nephews as well as my son's Preschool, Kindergarten & 1st grade teachers! I highly recommend it:)

Dreams of Rescue: A Novel

Subtle Depiction of Actress/wife in jeopardy
While Juliana, the actress who narrates this gripping story, has become accustomed to playing fightened women in movies, it is another matter entirely when she must divorce her childhood sweetheart.A sophistocated examination of the differences between the artifice of film and the lucid truth of a woman's situation when she becomes afraid of her husband. An atmospheric jewel of a novel, crystalline prose. I found DREAMS OF RESCUE intriguing enough to seek out the author's other works, which are very varied --from plays to memoir, the classic Sleeping Arrangements, to another fiction treasure, Beautiful Bodies. Impressed at her range, I'm a new Cunningham fan, and applaud her diversity and courage in taking on the unspoken disaster that many "respectable" wives face alone. The romantic, Victorian setting and history are put to excellent, literary effect. I was transfixed. My book club chose this and it led to our most passionate discussion.

Laura is the face in a misty night
I'm a big Laura fan --Laura the original movie and this Laura, the author of so many divergent works. Here, my favorite author displays her haunting side, with the same intensity & dazzling prose that marks her other "greatest hits." Don't miss this saga of the troubled actress and her mysterious marriage. Kept me up two nights in a row!

Don't miss this one!
I was lucky enough to get my hands on an advance copy of this book, and disappeared into it like someone in a trance. Julianna Durrell is an actress best known for her victim roles in the TV subgenre known as FemJep (insider slang for "female in jeopardy.") As the book opens, Julianna is spending the winter in her summer home, with her marriage literally on ice after a violent encounter with her husband. With an order of protection that barely protects, she is thrust into the unfamiliar world of a gritty off-season resort whose small-town courtrooms barely resemble the TV version she knows so well. This is a smart literary thriller that both satisfies and reimagines the conventions of its genre. Cunningham writes like an angel -- her frozen landscapes are unforgettable.

I Highly Reccomend this book.
The main charracter , Laura, is a wonderfull role model for all women. What a story ! She has childhood loves to her adult problems and relationships. I enjoyed watching her grow. This story is rich and full . I miss reading about her. Laura was an amazing woman, yet so common that not only did I find my self pulling for her but I found myself changed and enspired by her . Her experiences became mine. My hat is off to this truely talented author. I hope she writes many many more books. I would also like to thank her for sharing Laura's story . What a WONDERFULL BOOK !!!!

Impossible to put down....
Having grown up in the Hill Country, I was immediately drawn to this book. Woods' protrayal of her grandmother's life brought out the history of this area and her descriptions created vivid mental pictures. You'll find yourself not wanting to put the book down as you travel through time with this story of Laura Woods.

Couldn't put it down!
After reading True Women I knew that Hill Country would be another interesting history lesson and I wasn't disappointed! The love that Woods-Windle pours forth from her family tree is told in a way that you want to believe every word to be fact but of course her telling the story in a fashion so artfully done will make me always remember these beautiful people. Little Mattie is such a wonderful mother and Laura is a woman that everyone wants to know. Janice's dipiction of Rebekah Baines Johnson's relation with her best friend, Laura and her son Lyndon is beautifully written. I'm proud to have these two books in my library and to share them with my daughter, sister and special friends.

The Best Little House Book
Little Town on the Prairie is my favourite book out of all the "Little House" series by Laura Ingalls Wilder. I enjoyed this book more than the other books because it was happier, for there were not so many depressing times the Ingalls family had to endure.
The title is self-explanatory, a little town on the prairie, which is in Dakota, USA. The story is set during the 1880's. The Ingalls family, consisting of six people, was always moving from place to place. When they came to Dakota, they were very happy with it. Their little "shanty" that they stayed in during the summer was built into a new, improved house. Mary, the oldest sister, is accepted into the college of the blind, and Laura continues school and has a summer job. Things are going very well at the Ingalls household. There is enough food for everyone, and there wasn't another hard winter, like everyone expected. Most problems have solutions like when there were gophers eating their corn, they got a cat to kill them. The only problem is school, because of the new teacher, Eliza Jane Wilder. She is Almanzo Wilder's sister. She turns out to be horribly mean to Laura and her younger sister, Carrie, because Nellie Oleson (Laura's enemy mentioned before in "The Banks of Plum Creek") told the teacher negative remarks about Laura. Soon, a new teacher replaces her. All of the problems work themselves out somehow, which is what I like about this book.
In my opinion, Laura Ingalls Wilder does an exquisite job captivating all her readers with her refined choice of words, meticulous detail, and up-beat plot. This is absolutely the best piece she's written. She does an admirable job of describing the setting so it makes you feel like you're right there, witnessing the whole scene. The book also has a good balance of good times and bad times, because if it was all bad times the book would seem depressing, and if it was all good times, the book would seem hard to believe. I would recommend this book for those who enjoy realistic fiction or historical fiction. I think a possible theme for this story would be hold on, things will get better. This theme is displayed throughout all the "Little House" series. This is my all time favourite book, and I hope you enjoy it, too.

My favorite of the series!
This (and Happy Golden Years) is my favorite book of the Little House series. The Ingalls family is doing well; the town has recovered from the Hard Winter; and Laura is changing from a girl into a woman. The descriptions of the characters and the surroundings are vivid and real. I don't care if Rose Wilder Lane wrote most of the books or not - the Little House series is a gift to all readers, not just young readers! I'm in my 30's and I still love to read them periodically, but this is one of my very favorites.

Definitely my favorite Little House book...
Since I've first read this book when I was a little younger than Laura, so I was really excited to read what life was like 'back then' for kids my age.

The hard winter is finally over, and the Ingalls family finally moves out to their claim, where Laura enjoys the outside work and the sunshine. But then she is offered a job as a seamstress in town, and takes it even though she misses the outdoors. The work is hard, and the environment is unpleasant, but Laura sticks it out.

Ma=ry finally has a chance to go to the blind college in Iowa, and while Ma and Pa take her there, Laura, Carrie and Grace clean the house.

School finally begins again, and an unpleasant surprise comes along on the first day - Nellie Oleson from Plum Creek, who schemes and causes trouble. The high point of this situation is the troble between Laura and Ms. Wilder, the teacher, who only hears unpleasant things about Laura from Nellie, and Laura's short temper, especially where Carrie is concerned, does not help the situation... But Ida, the new girl, is nice enough to make up for Nellie's unpleasantness.

Laura is grown up enough to want fashionable cloths and all other fashionable things other girls her age in school have, such as name cards. She is invited to parties and attends her first evening sociable.

We start seeing the relationship between Laura and Almanzo Wilder start developing (even though I think her relationship with his sister, her unpleasant ex - school teacher, might give things an interesting twist).

Original, a refreshing change.
Cocktail : The Drinks Bible for the 21st Century by Paul Harrington and Laura Moorhead may not be the biggest book about mixing drinks around, but it certainly is one of the best. With 275 recipes, it certainly does cover its fair share of drinks, but fans of the shooter beware, you'll find no such drinks in this book. Harrington is focused on bringing back the classic cocktail, and while some may find him pretentious, or even snooty, no one can say he doesn't know what he's talking about. The most refreshing thing about this book is that it doesn't just give recipes, it give background on the cocktail, the time period it was created, and even who some of the more famous imbibers of the particular drink were. There are even well done pictures of some of the cocktails. So, if you're looking for more than just a recipe book, and you want to create some classic cocktails, check Cocktail out. However, if you're looking for Atomic Bodyslams and Sex on the beach, find another book.

The foundation for an excellent bar library
This book focuses on "classic" cocktails -- for the most part, those that were around before Prohibition. You won't find Sex on the Beach, but you will find a bunch of almost-forgotten morsels like the Pegu and the Mojito.

The book is divided into three parts. The first part is a primer to mixing and stocking a bar, with lots of background on various ingredients and techniques. The second part, my favorite, focuses on 64 cocktails, mostly old-school drinks like the aforementioned Pegu and Mojito. In addition to these recipes, there is also a nicely-pretentious discussion of each drink, including its history (as near as can be determined). The third part is the reference section, with a couple hundred recipes -- again, still fairly old-school -- and a nice glossary.

This book is very highly recommended. After buying this, you'll want a couple more books for your bar shelf, but you'll find yourself returning to this one again and again.

The definitive mixology guide
I first learned of Paul Harrington, "The Alchemist," from the Cocktail website at HotWired. His classic descriptions of drinks, their histories, and the nuances of mixology (NOT bartending) made me an instant devotee.

As much as I love the website, it's not the most practical reference (i.e. few people have a computer in their bar). I was thrilled when Paul released this book with all the wonderful aspects of the website, including the gorgeous and inspirational illustrations, intact. I've browsed through a number of other drink related books, purchased a subset of those books, and use even fewer. When I want a recipe or a history, I turn first to this book.

While Cocktail doesn't claim to have recipes for every drink known to man, it does have all the classics. Let's face it, do you really want to know how to make a "pink squirrel" or "slow comfortable screw"? If so, this book is probably not for you. Take heart, though, for Paul does provide direction for countless other, less classic, drinks at the website.

If you're serious about exploring cocktail culture or expanding your libation repertoire -- both as a mixologist and an imbiber -- you'll find this book infinitely useful and a joy to use as well as peruse.

New Beginnings
Laura Ingalls tells about her childhood experiences as her family travels from Minnesota to settle in South Dakota. She gives an account of how their lives changed from living in a more settled area in Minnesota compared to living in unsettled land which later becomes De Smet. Mary, Laura's older sister, has lost her sight to scarlet fever, and Laura hopes that she will someday be able to attend a college for the blind. Although Laura works very hard she rarely complains. She enjoys singing with her father as he plays the fiddle. Ingall's gives clear pictures of what life was like for a girl growing up in early American History. As an adult this was my first experience reading one of Laura Ingalls Wilder's "Little House" books; I found it most informative and enjoyable. This book is a great way for children to learn what life was like during the pioneer era.

Emma's Review
This book is probably the best book for kids other than Holes! It is about a girl named Laura and her sisters Mary,Carrie and baby Grace also Ma and Pa. She has to move to a new homested on Silver Lake. Her family has just gone through a very hard time-Mary got blind! She has many adventures-one of her scariest would be when a wolf almost atacks her! This is one of MY personle favorites!

I liked the title of the book because I like silver.
I liked the book because it was interesting the way Laura described everything to Mary because she was blind. I liked when Laura went horseback riding. It sounded fun. My Mom read these books when she was young and back then this was her least favorite when when she re-read it as an adult she found it much more interesting. Now she is reading the series to me. It was sad when Jack died. I cried because I liked Jack. Pa said he would go to dog heaven. Mom's favorite part of the book was when the family lived in the surveyor's house for the winter and they had a nice Christmas with the Boasts, and she liked the part when the family learned about the blind college, and they had hope that Mary could one day go there.

Entertaining and a fast read
FALSE PROPHETS, TRAMPS AND THIEVES was VERY enjoyable to read. Not only was it a fast paced, easy read..., I found myself anticipating the next time I'd be able to sit down and finish this amusing novel! I was able to picture the quirky characters (and some not so quirky) in my imagination quite easily and often found myself reading with a SMILE on my face!!

My one question to the authors is this: Is there a follow up to this book? Now that I am done, I find myself CRAVING for a sequel! Any other future encounters for Anne Davis?? Her life is filled with too many dysfunctunal people who surround her to fit into one story! I would hope you'd consider this option!!

I would HIGHLY recommend this book to others who are looking for a story that will entertain and amuse them, take them away from their daily grind, and help them to escape life's hum-drums. This is definitely a MUST READ, you won't be disappointed...I wasn't!!

Why I don't need to visit southern California anymore
False Prophets, Tramps & Thieves was a great read. The characters are beautifully developed and their perspectives on life, their foibles and their motives are all too familiar. I've never been to southern California, but I have to believe that this one funny book tells me all I ever wanted to know.

Wonderful Surprise!
This easy read book is a wonderful surprise! This is truly celluloid-ready material. This one is a witty and charming piece of writing. The characters are unique and visual. The action moves and keeps you guessing. The plot is fun and tense and thoughtful all at once. And if it ain't on the screen (or at least available on video) in the next few years - OR - slated for development, then I'm hanging up my own filmmaking and screenwriting interests for good.
