John F. Taylor is an excellent author on this subject.
I read Dr. Taylor's book on Helping Your Heperactive Child and found it to be accurate and informative. It was very good! I consider myself to be a bit of an expert on this subject because I was ADHD-sa and my father was ADD and my son was ADHD so I know what I'm talking about. Mary Powell

Great Book!
It's likely that readers who have watched many of Alfred Hitchcock's films can't help but have noticed how frequently he depicts fetishism, sadism, and voyeurism. Because Hitchcock was a reclusive man and a guarded interview subject, almost everyone who writes about him turns to his work for insight into his life. These writers generally conclude that the director himself was possessed by the very pathologies that resound in his movies.
But John Russell Taylor didn't have to go that route. He wrote this biography with the participation and blessings of the man himself. In Hitch, Taylor admits that his subject often projects his fantasies onto the screen. He also provides a good deal of insight into Hitchcock's domineering, obsessively courteous demeanor. But the focus here is on the details of Hitchcock's life, the preparation and production of his movies, and his relationships with the countless cinematic luminaries who worked with him, including Ingrid Bergman, Cary Grant, Grace Kelly, and James Stewart. --Raphael Shargel

Essential resource on John the Baptist
This book is Volume II in an ongoing series called "Studying the Historical Jesus", edited by Bruce Chilton and Craig Evans, a thorough and superb study of John the Baptist. Taylor refutes (once and for all, hopefully) theories which associate John with the Essenes: He lived in the wilderness himself, but he sent people home after baptizing them; he was an ascetic, but the particular foods he rejected were accepted by the Essenes; he wore camel hair sackcloth, the Essenes wore white garments; he lived in the lower Jordan, they lived on the western shores of the Dead Sea. Enough is enough! About the Pharisees, Taylor concludes that they were probably not overly hostile to John. They may have disagreed with the belief that a purification rite like baptism needed prior repentance, but they certainly would not have been offended by a prophet who was turning sinners back to righteousness. Her chapter dealing with John's execution is very helpful, probably the best in the book. She notes that unlike other wilderness prophets of the first century (whose followers were also rounded up and slaughtered), John did not gather people in order to march on Jerusalem. He did believe that the Kingdom was coming -- and thus that the powers-that-be would soon "get their due" -- but his methods were less seditious, as he sent people home to await the Kingdom after they were baptized. But Herod Antipas no doubt worried that this "Baptist movement" could flower into the popular form of prophetic revolution, and so John's criticism of his marriage was just the excuse he needed to do away with him. Finally, Taylor explores the relationship between John and Jesus, suggesting that Jesus counted himself among the followers of the Baptist who needed repentance, and who upon immersion had a prophetic calling, went out into the wilderness himself...and then began his own movement, in which he continued the practice of baptizing.
This book is satisfyingly through, about twice the length of other books in this series, whose titles so far are: "Pure Kingdom" by Bruce Chilton, "God's Final Envoy" by Marinus de Jonge, and "Jesus Outside the New Testament" by Robert Van Voorst. May there be many more installments to come.

fruitful and timely discussion
"Inflation, Unemployment, and Monetary Policy" is one of the most serious problem in the developed countries, especially my country Japan, which is suffering a severe unemployment problem for a long recession. Because of the continuous Government's spending policy. Japanese fiscal situation is deteriorated, so japanese economy's last hope is a monetary poicy. At that time, reading this exciting book and studying excellent opinions of 6 notable economists are truly fruitful. In this book, 6 economists make a poweful and exciting discussion...of course, there is no perfect solution...But, I believe that I can make a firm basis for thinking this severe problem.

(Annual) Definintive guide to aircraft and engines
For almost 80 years Jane's has published an annual guide to currently produced aircraft (including Remotely Piloted Vehicles, Balloons, Sailplanes, Sport (homebuilt/experimental) aircraft, and aircraft engines. It has become the definitive guide to aircraft. Detailed descriptions of the aircraft, performance, systems and design are included. Jane's style is dry (arid) but well developed. Any reader whose interests are in the romance associated with a maker or model, or who delights in the vicarious thrill of climb power and roll rates will find this a dull text. The reader who need to determine which models were manufactured in which years and equipped with which engines will find a data trove within these pages.

An astonishing prose stylist
Jeremy Taylor deserves a wider audience than those who are interested only in Christian classics.
He is also a prose stylist of the first water. Read him, and you will see where DeQuincey got his chops. As he warms to the solemn themes about which he writes, his sentences are like great rivers of poetic and exalted language. His experience as a preacher also makes him a great master of the -sound- of words.

A wonderful Spanish Artist!
This is a soft-cover book, 9" by 10" covering about 50 of Roberto Gonzalez Fernandez's paintings of young men. Some of them are nudes of guys alone or with other men. The paintings cover a period from the late 70's thru 1987. Roberto's art is very gay, but definitely not camp. A lot of the men are very attractive, and the images are homo-erotic but not pornographic. The detail, moody lighting, and coloring of these paintings is beautiful. The paintings are so detailed and realistic they seem like photographs. Roberto is a wonderful Spanish painter, that's for sure.
I just wish there were more paintings to see. A lot of the paintings have a surrealistic quality. He reminds me a lot of Salvadore Dali, but with more emotion and eroticism. Hopefully, more of his paintings will be published in the near future. This is a great artist to enjoy over and over, and is highly recommended.

19th century farmer's diary with 20th century photos
This little book is beautifully produced with exquisite photos of an old barn taken by master photographer Szarkowski. The accompanying excerpts from Philo Blinn's 19th century are both poignant and evocative of life in Columbia County New York. Philo Blinn was just an ordinary farmer, but he had a way with words that make his life and that of his neighbors come to life.
