32 intelligent, instructive points of view
This book contains 32 short articles written by college professors and others on the very important subject of Political Correction. I found the articles and the facts and opinions expressed to be very readable and instructive. The subject is broader and more serious than I had previously thought. I learned a great deal. The book is easy to read and is presented so one can select each article at will, not necessarily in page order; the authors are presented in alphabetical order. It is a very good read.

You'll Love Past Sorrows and Coming Attractions
This collection of Edith Konecky's short stories is full of surprises and worlds that range from a young man just leaving a mental institution who gets a job writing comedy to a wonderful story that manages to be funny about the sources of greed and a family battle over property. The characters are varied; the wit always supports, never merely shows off. Whether or not you're a fan of Konecky's other work, you'll enjoy this.

This is one of the cutest books for young children to read. While Baby Mouse is shooting peas out of her window and scaring away foxes, Father Mouse is knocking blenders onto Farmer Clem's shoulder! So venture into a wonderful children's book where 'The corn is as bright as the summer sun'!

wonderful look at Northern Ireland
Prior to reading this book, I'd not known much about the Northern Irish problem--just that there was one. Shillue has opened my eyes to the culture and the deep-seated and intractable issues at play here. She perfectly captures the warmth, natural intelligence and enormous humor of these people. One comes to know and appreciate people on both sides of the divide and realize how difficult this situation will be to reconcile. A wonderful place to begin learning more about this culture and issue.

very nice!
This book teaches children to be responsible of all things they want to do. Here, the Peep Larssons children wanted to go sailing without any adult with them. It takes a big responsibility to do this. They have to take care of each other and also themselves. This book is very good.

This book is amust for Pastors and Laymen alike
This book is the finest work I have read to date on the early days of the Assembly of God denomination. It is written in a manner that is exciting to read and will educate you in the process. If you are looking to get a feel of what it was like to be a pentecostal believer in those days you have chosen the right book. If you have any interest in Church History this book will captivate you from the beginning to the end. This book captures the true qualities of what happened to many Christians who were effected by the Azusa street outpouring. This book will help breath life into your soul. It helps satisfy the question of , " why is revival so scarce". It shows that the bod of Christ today lacks the Holiness that the church of yesteryear had. This book will lead you back to the old days and paint vivid pictures in your mind of the lives of the people and of the times that they happened to have lived in. Please read this book. Do your self a real favor pick this book up today it will help you gain a perspective of the overflow of the Holy Spirit in the lives of the believers of that day. It shows the lives of many epople that would oneday become important prople with this new denomination. if you read one book this year on pentecostal history please pick this one. You will not be disapointed. It will leave you seeking after revival. It is very accurate in the way it depicts the lives of the many people in the book. it makes you feel like you are there in the middle of the outpouring itself.

la vie en rose
Even though Edith Piaf herself faded into a history and became less famous in our generation, most of her songs are still alive in people's heart. Her songs like "La vie en rose" or "Autumn Leaves" have been sung by many famous artists in many different ways. If you still don't know who Edith Piaf was, think about recent Intel's TV commercial which a college kid boils water on a empty pot and takes a digital photo of it, then sents it to his mother for asking some money. The background music of that commercial was one of Piaf's songs "Non, je ne regrette rien". Even her songs and her career were like life of roses, her personal life itself was awful. This book introduces you almost forgotten French legend who was once known as a queen of French music industry...Great book. m.o.

From the N. Y. Times, reviewed by Barbara Fisher Williamson
A divorced mother of two and a moderately successful New York writer, Rachel Levin is smart, funny, generous, and above all else, clear-eyed. A Place at the Table concerns a period in Rachel's life when she is ending a relationship with a much younger woman, becoming a grandmother, considering writing trashy novels for money, consoling a friend whose marriage is foundering, attempting to rescue Deirdre, another friend, from madness and confronting her own mortality. It is the definitions sand distinctions between Rachel and Deirdre that make the novel not just warm and witty but poignant and sage. Rachel has no fantasies about the madness that art creates or demands. Art and madness are separate, and there is nothing glamorous in her friend's decline. It is all loss. Similarly, there is nothing romantic in Rachel's own suffering. Loss is loss, art is art, trash is trash. Rachel closes her story counting her blessings, the usual ones --- work, children, friends, means, appetites. Pleasures of the mind and body, simple and comples. Sanity. And I still have one breast. This list, when one reaches it at the end of the novel, seems suddenly new and fresh, graceful and funny. The ordinary words have taken on the extraordinasry power of this wonderful, wise woman.

A Great Resource for Pastors and Church Leaders
In compiling "The Praying Church" Alvin Vander Griend has done a great service to pastors and church leaders. It is an outstanding sourcebook of prayer strategies, helps, and motivation. You will find step by step instructions for developing a comprehensive prayer ministry in your church. There are practical guidelines for a wide variety of prayer ministries including prayer chains, Houses of Prayer, and pastor's prayer teams. You will also find instruction on conducting prayer meetings, retreats and vigils.
Our church already had an organized prayer ministry but the suggestions and guidelines from "The Praying Church" took us to the next level. Finding this book earlier would have saved us a great deal of trial and error learning. His methods are proven, effective, and adaptable to various situations and settings. In addition you will find essays on prayer, a library of stories of praying Christians, and resources for praying churches.
Vander Griend is the director of Houses of Prayer Everywhere (HOPE), a member of the National Prayer Committee, and the Denominational Prayer Leaders Network. He has great insight into the value and implementation of prayer ministries in the local church.

This is a great book for understanding "the other guys". It's wonderful in its simplicity and even-handed approach. I recommend it for anyone who ever wonders "why do they do that?" and "why would anyone want to be in THAT religion". Being both historical and anecdotal, One God: Peoples of the Book, is informative without being dry.
