an absolute must for anyone who wants to better know HK
I'm a studenf of the author at University of Hong Kong, although he's an American , his book tell me more about HK than anything else ever did. I began to have a fresh look at the things that's been around me for so long. This book is a must read for those Americans who know nothing but to raise the "free Tibet"sign whenever a Chinese official arrive and those who keep saying how Hong Kong will be a ruin after the handover.

smart young sexy
Broken down into monologues for men, women, or either and varying in length from 5 minutes to 30 seconds, almost all of these monologues are great options for young actors too good and too sexy for the same old same old. These are smart young sexy writers writing for smart young sexy actors. So if you're a smart young sexy actor, buy the damn book.

Great but out of print?
This was the best job search book I have ever found. Why is it out of print so soon? It was published in 1992 with no updates or reprintings? I am shocked and disappointed. It is well worth your time and effort to find a used copy if you can! It is the complete guide to effective job finding....not just a catchy phrase.

Very good introduction to Java Programming
This book is a very good introuction to Java programming. I compared this book to 2 other books which is Thinking Java by Bruce Eckel and Beginning Java by Ivor Horton I have to say that these two authors were very good but I was looking for a book that was easy to understand and not very technical. This made me smile while reading it, to amazement I didn't get bored while reading it, I was just like reading my favorite magazine. This book clearly explained a lot of Java's basic concepts. Though I would say there are some concepts that are missing, but like I said this book is only good for introduction given that you have no programming experience. If you really want to understand Java get this book and accompany it with Thingking in Java and Beginning Java 2.

Twisted!
This is my favorite twisted children's book. Ostensibly, it is a story about a child who is sick in bed and has bad dreams. It all ends happily. It's a fine book to share with your children.

But, you could read it this way... Johnny Lion is sick in bed and, after taking some "bad red medicine" begins to hallucinate. He sees an owl and a giant bunny in his room. His mother and daddy keep pushing the bad red medicine on him: "'Oh no,'said Johnny Lion. 'I do not want any more of that red medicine.' Johnny Lion did not want any more owls. He did not want any more red rabbits. But Father Lion said, 'Yes, you must take your medicine.' So the little lion opened his mouth wide and took the medicine."
Later he comes down from his "bad red medicine" high and has a nice dream: "He dreamed he was a big big lion...He had a big, big yellow mane. He dreamed he had big, big paws. He dreamed he had a big, huge mouth and big white teeth...Then he ran into Mother and Father Lion's room. The big, huge lion opened his moth wide and went, 'ROAR!' 'Oh, oh, oh,' said Father Lion. 'Help, help help!' cried Mother Lion."

That's what they get for pushing that bad red medicine! What a sweet dream: " 'Good morning,' someone said. It was Mother Lion. 'Did you have sweet dreams?' Father Lion said. 'Oh yes, indeed,' Johnny Lion said.

A great book. It's twisted and I love it. You will too.

A Serendipidous Gem
After purchasing a bronze relief by Joseph Csaky, an artist of whom I knew nothing, I went on a search to find out about my aquisition. That is how I chanced upon this wonderful book by Professor Edith Balas, of the art history department of Carnegie Mellon University. Not only is this volume exquisite in its printing, binding and illustration, the text by Dr. Balas is concise, literate and illuminating about the life and works of this obscure master of cubist sculpture. Anyone with an intrest in modernist and/or cubist sculpture will be fascinated by this magnificent book.

Excellent lectionary resource
Three items make this series of books timely. First, interest in the early church fathers is growing within the Protestant Churches (witness the Ancient Christian Commentaries series). Second the common lectionary - Catholics, Episcopaleans, Lutherans and main-stream protestants - provide a broader audience for lectionary resources. Third, writers such as Kathleen Norris (Presbyterian) and Robert Bondi (Southern Baptist) are introducing new audiences to the Liturgy of the Hours - with it's Office of Readings which includes selections from the early church fathers.

In this context, this collections of readings for the Cycle B (Gospel of Mark) Sunday readings should be useful to all Christians. The selections are well chosen and stand well as independent readings; they reflect on some point in the Sunday's Gospel - often in a thought-provoking way. The readings in this volume include selections from: Leo the Great, Basil of Seleucia, Cyril of Alexandria, John Justus Landsberg, Ephrem, Aelred, Origen ... i.e. a cross-section of the available texts.
