Read this only for a laugh!
As a serious hobby egyptologist with an open mind I thought this book might have some interesting insights into Egpyptian spirituality from a metaphysical standpoint --boy, was I wrong! Not only does the author quote theories as if they were obviously true that have long been shattered by academic Egpytology but has the guts to offer an "interpretation" of wall paintings which 1)are based on faulty understanding of A.E. history and religious symbol, but he admits himself that he is not interested in these things anyway, and 2) rest their point on part of a scene which has been damaged and is impossible for either he or the reader to see. When I read that the "shem" symbol (the symbol for eternity that is represented by the rising/setting sun) that the ba bird is carrying is really an "anhk" (the symbol of life) without a stem, signaling that "life had left the body" I started giggling so hard I couldn't go on reading. If you know an Egpyptologist who needs a good laugh -- get this book!--otherwise don't bother. The only reason this book gets 1 star is for the wonderful full-color pictures.

Tremendous - But Based On The Cayce Readings
This is a great book if you're a follower of Edgar Cayce as I am.
I...

This book is for the open minded who feel our current undertanding of history is severely flawed. If you're convinced that the great pyramid was built by a bunch of guys pulling 50 ton blocks of granite around in the desert with ropes you probably won't like this book.

You can read this book in one night as I did. Quite a few pages are taken up by beautiful pictures of art work from Egypt with explanations of the hidden meaning of the symbols and figures. If there was ever a race of people who were heavily into symbolism it was the Egyptians.

This book makes some statements which have implications that apply to the entire human race. One is that the current form of the human body is going to change somehow sometime in the near future. This has only happened a few times since the beginning of the human race.

I didn't realize that the high priest Ra Ta who built the great pyramid was a reincarnation of Edgar Cayce. I think it's obvious that Cayce is a very unusual soul. If I understand correctly it says Cayce was going to be reincarnated again in 1998 which means he may already be alive again.

Another suprise for me is there are many similarities between the ancient Egyptian religious beliefs and other religions such as Christianity and the Jewish faith. It's possible that Mary the mother of Christ and the godess Isis are the same person. For Catholics Mary is like a godess anyway and this may be an accurate symbol since she is supposedly also Eve who was created by dividing the soul of Adam (Christ). So she is the twin soul of God.

I have no problems believing all of the references to Atlantis. To me what Cayce says makes perfect sense.

For more wonderful ideas about the construction of the great pyramid I recommend this book:

The Giza Power Plant by Christoper Dunn

Dunn proves that the great pyramid was actually a machine like a form of nuclear reactor that shot a cosmic energy beam into outer space. Dunn's theories agree with this book that the great pyramid was built using anti gravity technology.

I believe what Cayce said that we are entering a new age.

The Egyptians indicated this also and said that some type of trial by fire is going to occur. Yes, I believe this. I believe Satan is going to collect all of the selfishness he has given out.

A lot of this information is consistent with theories I read in a book that was supposedly communicated to someone by people from another planet called Iarga. They said that human beings could originally communicate using a non verbal form of radiation that even the plants and animals can understand (ie. 'everyone spoke the same language'). The Tower Of Babel story in the bible indicates the point that humans lost the ability to understand the radiation. People such as Tanya Fitzpatrick (the Pet Psychic) can still understand the radiation.

Another author dedicated to revealing the truth.
John Van Auken puts forth more ideas regarding ancient myths surrounding the 'old' world. However, he proves that old does not mean less knowledge.

Either you believe in your heart there is much more to ancient Egypt, or you scoff at the thought. For those that know the truth, read this work with an open heart, you won't be kept in the dark any longer.

Read this book. You will like Jesus the Christ.
I am not a Christian the way your traditional doctrines define Christian. However, I do believe in The Christ. He is an amazing role model for us all. Knowing about his real story does not change that. It shouldn't change that. Cayce's information fills in many gaps left by the Bible. For those who choose to use the Bible as their only source, this book will scare them because it shakes the foundations upon which their faith is based.

Others of us will enjoy the Story; take comfort in it and perhaps become inspired by it.

If you are non-traditional Christian, a person brought up in a Structured and flawed church (as was I), a pagan, Witch, Spiritualist, atheist... Read this book You will like Jesus The Christ.

Recommending the Bible instead, starting with John's gospel
I never bought a copy of this book but was provided an unsolicited copy by the author thirty years ago. I regarded it then, as I do now, as a serious challenge against, not a part of, historical bible-based Christianity. Since spiritism and necromancy are specifically identified and forbidden in the bible (Deuteronomy 18:10-13), it can be expected that a christ portrayed from such sources would also be in contradiction with the bible (fell in the garden of Eden, reincarnated numerous times, sat under eastern masters, etc.). These assertions may be intriguing to someone under the enticement of the occult, but to the orthodox Christian they are utter blasphemy against the Son of God. The book convinced me that Cayce functioned as a spiritist medium as defined in Deuteronomy 18 and that demonic spirits spoke these things through him.

Nowhere in the bible does the Spirit of God endeavor to fascinate anyone with the prospect of spiritual knowledge, rather he deals with issues of the conscience; the imperative of repentance and new birth, and the seriousness of death and final judgement. "And as it is appointed unto man once to die, but after this the judgement" - Hebrews 9:27. Denying these things in favor of reincarnation is serious business as it glosses over personal accountability and the right of a holy God to judge wickedness.

Being a born-again Christian since 1967 and having advised the now-deceased author of my convictions in these matters, I would not recommend this book to anyone seeking Christ, but rather the gospel of John, then the rest of the bible. The true, living Lord Jesus is there. Seek him with your whole heart, keeping his words and you will find him. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" - John 3:16.

This could be the most enlightening book you will ever read.
This is it. This is the most enlightening book I have ever read. The author excerpts from the voluminous information provided by Edgar Cayce the information pertinent to Jesus Christ. He compiles it into a single volume and tries to help you make sense of these bits and pieces given by Cayce over decades. I can't wait to read it again. But I warn you, this is not for everyone. You have to be prepared for what you will learn. The prerequisite is a belief beyond a shadow of a doubt that every word revealed through the Cayce "readings" came from the spiritual world. If you are not there yet, you are wasting your time with this book, you won't believe what you read. It is true that the teacher will teach when the student is ready. If you are on a personal Search for God I encourage you to read "There is a River" and other books about Cayce. Once you have read enough to become convinced of Cayce's incredible accuracy in diagnosing and prescribing remedies for otherwise incurable illnesses; once you become a believer, you are then ready to read this. Your reward will be an enlightened insight into the life (or dare I say plural and give some of it away) of Jesus Christ. Much of the information provided corroborates and further explains that which is in the Bible. Read them both and your Search for God will be blessed with the truth, the light, and the way. No one comes to the Father except through Him. Eat of His flesh, Drink of His blood, for he is truly the bread of life. The spirit gives life, the flesh counts for nothing. The words He has spoken to us are SPIRIT, and they are life (John,6).

very against the bible
The test of a true prophet is his accuracy. Cayce has been wrong and does not glorify our lord and master. Check your bibles and verify everything

CAYCE ALWAYS GAVE GOD THE GLORY . . .
This is another good Cayce book, and it's unfair to bash this very spiritual man without a through study of his words. If we read what Cayce specifically said regarding Jesus Christ, we see how every reading he gave in trance, as in all areas of his waking life, he never once denied Christ or his divinity or his love for us. Rather, Cayce often said that nothing we do in any lifetime is as important as loving God and our neighbor as ourselves. In one very powerful group of readings, he taught that by his suffering and death, Christ actually took upon himself all our worst karma and thus freed us from that endless Karmic-Wheel-of-Rebirth Hindu's long to be done with. If we accept this salvation of being released by Christ's sacrifice from the necessity of subsequent births, but choose nonetheless to reincarnate, we do so as servant-souls: that is, our lives become a gift we're not obliged to make. Mother Teresa is a good example of such an evolved soul who came back not for her own spiritual gain, but to lead humanity closer to God. When people questioned Cayce about the safest place to be living during the coming earthquakes/tidal waves, he would reply, "Why do you worry so about where your body will be? You should be more concerned about where you are in your relationship with HIM every day!"

Useful workbook-like exercises
I don't take the Bible literally, and I don't mindlessly swallow everything Cayce says either. But I liked the exercises, which more or less focus on a "resonance" method -- that is, do the pictures, time periods, etc. resonate with you.

Not For Sale!!
Mr. Cayse never charged for his work, because he thought that it was to help others and, that it was a gift. I have seen many of the things he had seen. I know that there is no way I could ever sell that kind of information, nor would my childern for that matter. I feel that Mr. Cayse would still feel the same about his gift if he were a live today. Thank You, Randi

I was unable to leave the computer for 48 hours.
There are hundreds of books generated by the phenomenal psychic abilities of Edgar Cayce. This cd-rom has all 14,000 readings, plus all letters, and follow-ups. It was utterly fascinating. It was incredible that so many wonderful facts were never brought-out in so many books!

Awful
This author could bore for the USA. The content of this book could be condensed to less than a quarter of its volume. You get the feeling that he is writing it for himself rather than for the reader. I was just glad that I didn't have to listen to him speaking.

Easier than it sounds!
Do people keep asking you if you're read the Celestine Prophecy? Are you harbouring a niggling suspicion, or a even a growing conviction that there just might be more to life than you thought there was? Have you noticed a lot of funny coincidences recently? Congratulations! You're on your path. Despite the somewhat imposing title of this work, it's actually a very user-friendly guide to spiritual growth. This book contains a variety of practical suggestions designed to help you discover your innate skills and talents. When you figure out what they are, then you simply have to use them in order to fulfil your soul's purpose in your (current!) lifetime.

The essence of dreams?
I found this book to be disappointing.. hardly any Edgar Cayce's readings in it.
In addition, the book doesn't explain how dreams can be analyzed, what kind of dreams exist (1, 2, 3, of 4 dimensional (related to future, present, past?)).

most definitive book on dreams i have ever used.
I have used this book for many years to interpret some very strange dreams. This book is one of the most accurate and definitive books on dreams I have ever used. No matter what the subject I have always been able to find an answer to my question. I have reccommended this book to a lot of people over the years. In fact I eventually lost my original copy that had a lot of dreams that I had recorded . I have used it to analyze dreams for my friends and family many times with uncanny accuracy as a result. In my opinion, if you are curious or desperately in need of dream interpretation, use this book. It will help you to sort thru your confusion' as to what your dreams mean.i

A Light Went Off
I found this book interesting seeing as that I never really knew anything about meditation. Mr. Glover gives a pattern to follow without necessarily telling you directly what you need to meditate about. At times, the book was a little confusing with the readings from Cayce intertwined in between. However, the real life stories that Mr. Glover included and the afterword tied everything together for me as far as reaching for light, the power, the energy within and learning how to communicate on a different level with my Creator.

tragic
This book is nothing bu BS psuedo-science. Please don't touch it with a ten foot pole.

Contains some interesting things, but....
In reading such books we should keep in mind that such prophecies of future catastrophic events are not written in stone. A good book that explains that is The Isaiah Effect, by Gregg Braden. It demonstrates how prophecies of global catastrophe and suffering are either symbolic or may only represent future possibilities, rather than forecast impending doom. Moreover, Braden's book establishes that we have the power to determine our future, and avoid catastrophe.

That fact is also established in other books that provide a very realistic and credible view of prophecy that we can celebrate. One explains how and why the myths of an "end of the world" and a "second coming" were created and perpetuated. It explains the fulfillment of real prophecy and delivers a message designed to liberate and empower the people in a way we have only dreamed of.

Granted, books on Nostradamus, Cayce, etc. are interesting, but we must recognize that their work is open to interpretation. Also, we must recognize when such books (perhaps unwittingly) help perpetuate false religious doctrine and dogma and false prophecy. That is important because prophecy actually foretells that God's "new kingdom" will be established on the earth and "last forever, never to be destroyed."(Daniel 2:44, Revelation 11:15, Psalm 104:5, etc.) And best of all, we shall all share the throne as equal joint heirs, and no more be divided and ruled by a pretender to the throne as we are now. That's what the fulfillment of prophecy is all about.

Great Book!!!
This was a great book, it kept me glued to it and after each section it kept me reading to find out what was next. As it says in the book, it is not about scaring people into terror, it is a book about hope, once you read it you will understand, and have a whole new out look on things.

Intamates Through Time
This book was a terrible dissapointment. The author claims to have been anvisor to Pharoh, Tribal Chief and beloved leader in many of his past lives. I find his delusions of granduer in poor form. I was so disgusted with the author that I chose not to finish reading this book. The writing techinque was poor, The infromation given was scattered and hard to follow. The author must think his audience a fool who will beleive anything he writes. It is like he didn't even try to produce a quality book, just adding another title to his list. Have you ever met someone who would lie to make friends? That is the impressinn I got from Jess Stern. Don't buy this book . It is a waste of your time and money.

to much preaching , not enough reference to actual readings
first i apologize for using this forum. i wish to comment on Edgar Cayce, on the millennium, by Mr Stearn . i was unable to find the proper outlet for this book. i was disapointed in the content of the book. it failed to provide any real insight into the millennium. the ideas in this book could be summed up in very few words. Mr. Stearn feels that there will be no catastrophic events to mark the millennium, just a series of unidentified events, with no specifics given to back up exactly what or when any event will take place. this was pourly refferenced. please take the time to read and display examples of mr. Cayce's readings that pertain to this title. i expected to have the prophets words on the subject not Mr. Stearns personal views. the name EDGAR CAYCE should not be in the title of this book. i own and have read many of the books extrapolated from the readings of Mr. Cayce including, The Sleeping Profit, and this book should not be included in the series !

Intimates Through Time
This book is about the past lives of several of Edgar Cayce's friends and family members and neighbors who were interviewed by the author. Interesting and easy to read for those who want to know more about reincarnation, it also provides some historical insights into life during ancient Egypt and other periods of history.

Couldn't even get the name right!
You get an ideal of how poor the scholarship is on this one by the fact that the author, editor, and publisher don't even seem to know it's the book of Revelation, NOT Revelations! Sheeeeesh!

Definitely a New Age philosophy
The experienced reader of Edgar Cayce probably already knows that his readings on things other than health and cures for bodily ailments do not enjoy a good accuracy rate. Since Edgar Cayce considered himself a very religious man, though, this book was enough to pique my curiosity.

What the reader will find therein is almost a verbatim restatement of the self-centered New Age religious philosophy. According to Cayce, the four beasts and the four horses in the Book of Revelation both refer to four different centers of the body. The seven churches refer to seven different glands in the body, and so forth.

As a religious man, Cayce seems completely unconcerned that the Book of Revelation contains a curse for anyone who adds or detracts from its meaning. And Cayce himself leaves the reader with one glaring question: Since he claims to be connected to a universal consciousness, but never identifies who is answering the questions put to him while his is in a trance, his benefactor could be a different soul (if it is another soul) every time, and there's no guarantee that any of these souls are divine in any way. So the source of his information is seriously in doubt.

As with most psychics, Edgar Cayce leaves more questions behind than he ever answered.

As a Christian, I gave the book one star because it did not help me understand the Book of Revelations. Those who are into New Age philosophies -- or old Babylonian cults -- may rate the book somewhat higher.

Interpretation of Book of Revelations that Makes Sense!
I was at first shocked when I saw that a reviewer of this book rated it with only one star. Then I read the review and knew why. This book is not for the closed minded or for those who have a deeply embedded fear of looking at things another way than they have been taught all their lives.

However, for the sincere seeker and open-minded, this book is truly wonderful! Finally something that makes the Book of Revelations make sense -- and in a way that encourages and challenges the reader to take responsibility for his or her own understanding. It is all to easy to conceive of all darkness and evil being only from some "outside devil." It takes inner courage and sincerity to look at ourselves and see that we have the entire "war" of Dark and Light within our own selves!

The only mistake Edgar Cayce made here was by being ahead of his time. If you are only willing to interpret the Bible that way your Sunday School teacher taught you, I will concede that this book is not for you.

For myself, I found it enlightening and profound!
