Truly Entertaining History
This book is full of adventure, excitement, and HISTORY. If you want to learn about King Richard, Knights, the Crusades, or Medieval times then this book is perfect for you. Clean and entertaining, it's a story the whole family can and will enjoy if you buy it. G.A. Henty makes the book come alive with his wonderful story telling abilities that include twists and turns, and wonderful characters. You will begin to fell like your there as Henty describes the Middle East and England with wonderful descriptions and details. I highly recommend you buy this book!

Tremendously true & entertaining historical fiction
G.A. Henty is known for his historical exactness, and he loses none of his reputation with this volume. One can seldom find an unbiased and truthful account of the Crusades, but Henty has given us this in really just an overview of some historical battles. The remainder of the book is filled with typical battles, experiences, and accounts of the time. We learn of what Crusaders did upon retirement, their religious zeal, the fighting lists, and Saxon England's Baron wars. One would do well to add this book to their library.

Another Triumph for G.A. Henty
I just finished reading this book, and I thought it was great! I've been fascinated by the Holy Wars and this gave a fresh new perspective on things. It's the story of an English boy of Saxon blood, how he ascended in the favor af the regional lord in England, travelling to the Holy Land and serving in King Richard's army as a knight. It tells about the conflict between the Saxons, the "natives" of England, and the Normans, the heirarchy. It also talks about the strife between England and other European countries like France and Germany. The last quarter of the book talks about the bondage, and finally, freedom, of Richard Lionheart from the hands of the hostile Germans. Magnificent writing style, detailed descriptions of time and place and depth of characters make this another triumph for G.A. Henty.

An Excellent Book to Guide Your Career and Life
This book provide a very solid approach to combining the spiritual aspects of life with your career or personal life. Many of us during our lives start to question the value that we are contributing both in our personal and career life and this book helps to bring these issue together. Father Byron uses the excellent approach of the Pauline Criteria consisting of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faith, gentleness and self control all from the scripture outlined by Saint Paul. By utilizing these basic criteria it helps to refocus everyone on what is important in life and once you have that focus you will achieve a balance to live and enjoy your life for eternity.

I would recommend this book especially to Executives who are struggling with where they are in their own life and where they really want to be, which is to align your life in all aspects with a high authority God to help us operate in our daily lives. In addition, it is an excellent step for others to refocus their entire direction in alignment with all aspects of life.

I have used the Pauline Criteria everyday since I started reading the book for daily reflection and I will used it forever in my view. I have already reread the book three times because I am so impressed by its content with real life and the need for spirituality. I am already more peaceful with who and where I am then I was over three weeks ago when I purchased the book. It helps give a new direction in my life. I do have a religous and spiritual belief but this has made it even more solid in my life.

Congratulations on an excellent book. Father Byron thanks for the lesson on eternal life. Attitude is the key as you have outlined so nicely.

Excellent book to help anyone get the most out of each day
I was surprised that this book was so balanced, being written by a Roman Catholic Priest. It is a broad based, easy to read and very stimulating summary of one sound approach to establishing a spiritual basis for your worklife that will carry you through the trials and tribulations that we all face at some time. There are no miracles claimed here, just hope and a methodology for maintaining it. This common sense approach to daily living focuses on joy and peace, rather than "The Art of War" that has been the most common business philosphy in the past. It shows how each of us can make a difference and bring the workplace a little closer to where we wish it was (secretely in our hearts). A must read for anyone who is a little burnt out or frustrated, as well as anyone just starting out. With William Byron's approach to work, there can be hope and joy even in the most demanding and demeaning jobs!

Recommended For All Ages
I chose to read this book because I am friends with the author's son. I'm happy I chose to do so despite the book being written for more of a younger audience. Its vivid descriptions allowed me to picture the entire book as i was reading it. I had no trouble reading through the book's entirety in one sitting. Every stage of the book is interesting and kept me wanting to continue reading. I recommend this book for people of all ages to read and to all future writers who need a solid example of the way a book should be written.

" BEAR VALLEY CHARLIE"
This is an excellent children's book in that it is fast moving, exciting and teaches profound lessons in a boy's world. I believe girls will like the book as well. The character of Mary Kate is fiercely independent and girls will love her. The three toed Grizzly is terrifying as it searches for the puppy Bear Valley Charlie,so named for it's first encounter with the giant bear. Hugh and Joseph, twelve year olds in New Mexico who are trying to save a herd of wild mustangs from cowboys who want to find and destroy them. The boy's search for the mustangs while keeping away from the cowboys and the endurance required of them is impressive. I found it a very enjoyable and easy read.

The essence of Christmas in New York!
As the manager, gardens division, of Rockefeller Center, I found the book to be an accurate, delightful chronicle of the world's most beautiful Christmas Tree. It's the heart and soul of New York, and thus, the world! David Murbach

A wonderful book of memories.
This is a fine coffee table book about a subject that would appeal to anyone who has enjoyed the wonderful Christmas Tree and Holiday decoratations in Rockefeller Center, NY. The photos are excellent - especially the older ones. Nice stories about the people behind the scenes, and how the trees get selected.

Competition obedience : a balancing act

Excellent!
This is such a comprehensive book! As someone new to competition obedience, I have been devouring any material on the subject I can find. This is one book I'll be referring to for years to come. It covers every detail of obedience training (from new puppies to advanced work) in very clear, easy-to-understand language with appropriate photos and illustrations. Because various methods of training certain exercises are shown, trainers can choose what works best with their particular dogs. This book will help anyone starting out in competition obedience to get off on the right foot, avoid training errors and have fun with their dog.

Competition Obedience:A Balancing Act
I have trained dogs and participated in obedience trials for 37 years. I am a seminar, video tape, obedience book "junkie" and have probably bought 90% of all the materials published on the subject of dog obedience. I have found this book the most complete on the market. It is not only very readable, but very tolerant of various methods of approaching a training exercise. At the same time both authors are quite honest and realistic about warning novice trainers of common errors in hasty and careless training. This is a very worthwhile book and would make
a perfect Christmas, birthday, anniversary or any occasion gift for both the novice and experienced dog trainer interested in obedience competition.

Witty, engaging, unconventional broad concept of country
The guide is a bright, breezy, likable and opinionated snapshot of the places special to country music on the American landscape: the stars' birthplaces, museums polished and plain, great performance venues, the folk roots of country before it got glitzy. Slick commercialism at Branson is noted for what it is; the backwoods home places of country greats are appreciated. The view of country is broad, taking in its roots and relations, from folk ballads to bluegrass. This is a fun read, begging for a spot in the music lover's glove compartment.

A great guide that any country music lover should read
It's much more than a travel guide; the author has great observations about each site and the people that she meets in her travels. It's the best of both a tour guide and a country music trivia collection. It has an eye towards the offbeat, which keeps the reading lively. If you're just driving around the U.S., this is a great travelling companion to have

Wonderful and timely
This book is a real wonder for those of us past the age of 75, and perhaps for some younger people. I read a prayer or two every day, often going back to my new favorites. I have since purchased 3 other copies to send to friends who have the same needs for prayers by the elderly as I do. This book is a collection pf prayers by the elderly, not for the elderly. A natural for clergymen who, in this day of aging parishoners, work with so many older people.

A daily devotional book on aging
I am working my way slowly through Fire in the Soul, reading it as the author wishes-- a dose a day. What helps me most is that the book is written as a morning or evening devotional text. You can pick a prayer or reading and spend time with it, rather than racing through yet another text on aging. Growing old is hard enough, but having worked in the field of aging, I know firsthand how seldom practioners point out the spiritual resources available for the various development stages of the aging process. This would be a good book not only for people who are aging, but for those who work with or on their behalf to illustrate that there are spiritual resources which are vitally important as one grows old--in fact, I have found that prayerfulness is the one resource that brings a sense of greater purpose to the aging process, and gives us strength. I would highly recommend this book. Of course, I am the author's brother, so I can say that both as a minister and someone who has worked in the field of gerontology, and not just as a member of his family!
