Spiritual Wisdom from an Indian Saint.
Gandhi, though belonged to India, was a saint for men and women of all religions and lands and his message today has universal relevance. Therefore this book presenting in one volume the thoughts, sayings and messages of this spiritual giant on prayer, has limitless significance. It was first published in India in 1977 bringing together Gandhi's reflections and exhortations on prayer and now this edition of it is made available to the North American public with a few necessary alterations. It is indeed a beautiful book designed for the spiritual growth of the reader, with thought-provoking ideas springing out of the prayer experience of Gandhi, both personal as well as congregational.

The book has a Forward by Arun Gandhi a grandson of the Mahatma, and a very informative Introduction by Michael N Nagler. The text is divided into four parts: Meaning and Necessity of Prayer, Forms and Methods of Prayer, 'Ramanama' the Repetition of God's Name, and Last Breath, along with a couple of Appendices of Ashram prayers and Gandhi's favorite hymns. The section on 'Ramanama' dealing with the repetition of God's name is particularly fascinating in its content. Gandhi advocated silence as an aid to concentration in prayer and practiced fasting as a means of purification. These along with his life of witness to prayer and his insistence, "Prayer must be the very core of man..." would challenge men and women steeped in materialism and confused by modernity. It is a book to be read and treasured with great spiritual benefit.

Prayer the Gandhi Way
It is a collection of Gandhi's views on and importance of prayer. According to him, one can live without food for a day but impossible to live without a prayer. One can learn from this book how a daily prayer can help a human live day to day life. Gandhi tells the power of practicing "Ramnama". An interesting account of how prayers had helped him. Excellent reading. Practice will change your life.

Prince Michael and the Dragon
Prince Michael and the Dragon is a wonderful book. I highly recommend it for adults or children. A good friend read the book to her grandson as a bedtime story. He was ready to go to bed to hear the rest of the story. Hope to read more of Prince Michael and his adventures.

Excellent work
John C. Orndorff did a superb job depicting the very essence of a father's love for his children. He cleverly, creatively, vividly and touchingly describes life values all of us should understand and respect. The use of symbolism was excellent and the creative injection of the dragon along with the angelic characters and the splendid wonders of the woods brought back the child in me I forgot existed. This book can be enjoyed by the entire family. Bravo for an excellent piece of work.

The West is the Best
For any Rifter, this is the must have of the collection. With details of the Pecos Riders and other such empires, the information alone is worth it. But there is also more character classes, weapons and gear than one can shake a stick at. The best part of the sourcebook it that it'll help recall some of the best (and worst) westerns you've seen and BAM instant adventures.

Very good for Old West fans or people who like to use TW's
This book is great. I suggest the preacher, which is good for interesting play. For psychic players, there is a psi-slinger and it is great. The best list for the best TW weapons I have ever seen.

Fantastic book on Shakespeare
This winter break I went on a Shakespeare buying spree, and this book is one of the fine gems I found. A large, but fascinating book, this work of great scholarship and excitement takes the reader on a whirlwind tour of Shakespeare, even into rather obscure corners of his works (Trollius and Cressida, Timon of Athens). This book is a must read for any would be deep thinker about Shakespeare.

The New Shakespeareans
Shakespeare as Political Thinker is a must for everyone interested in the political thought of William Shakespeare. This reprint will finally allow new comers to become familair with a commonsensical approach to Shakespeare's plays. The introductory chapter by John Alvis is worth the price. Perhaps the best Shakespearean critic alive, Alvis has an uncanny ability to show Shakespeare's moral seriousness without making the bard an unquestioning adherent to any political school or theological creed. Many of the essays that follow are also well done: Jaffa's chapter on Shakespeare's entire corpus, Laurence Berns' meditation on Lear etc.

The second printing of Shakespeare as Political Thinker gives hope to those interested in relearning ancient wisdom and pays tribute to its inspiration, Shakespeare's Politics (Allan Bloom).

Stone Prison
This is a solid first book from an aspiring Author. The story is new and fresh and it kept me intrigued through out the entire book. I didn't find a single dull spot and I actually finished it within a day. I will not give anything about the story away just know that I highly recommend this one whether you're a fan of horror or not.
Also recommend The Eternal Battle by another aspiring author Keith Gouveia.

A Writer To Watch
John Urbancik proves himself a writer to watch with his debut novel, Sins of Blood and Stone. The book walks the line between dark fantasy and horror. While religion is featured prominently in this book, this book blurs the line between good and evil and forces us to look deep inside ourselves to see where we might fit in this balance.

Not all mysteries in this book are answered, and that is not a bad thing. I wish that some of the characters had been drawn out more--I wanted to know more about them--and there were other, minor flaws, but Sins is a brilliant introduction to the writing of John Urbancik. I'm really looking forward to Urbancik's next book.

Truly a masterpiece! Full of horror and graphic imagination.
I felt chilled reading this collection of Poe's all time best stories. I especially loved the eerieness of The Cask of Amontialldo and the insanity of the narrator in the The Balck Cat, all so frightly believable. The illustrations top it off by adding a magical touch of frightful imagery to the collection.

One of the greatest books ever written!!
I read this book about a year ago and loved it. I'm the type of person who reads before they go to sleep and I had to put this book down because it was so frightening. I loved the way Poe drew me into the story and kept me begging for more. I was always curious to know what happened next, even if I was terrified. My favorite of all the stories was the "Cask of Amontillado". It was so creative how you became almost like a part of the story.

Technology Exchange in the Information Age: A Guide to Successful Cooperative R & D Partnerships
Published in Paperback by Battelle Pr (1997)
Authors: John Lesko, Phillip Nicolai, Michael Steve, and Phil Nicolai
Amazon base price: $29.95

The most useful source on this subject.
This book is written primarily for people considering cooperative technical efforts between government and industry (from either side of the table). Although based on studies funded by the Air Force, the findings are applicable to industry cooperation with any mission-oriented government lab. The basic concepts apply to cooperation between any organizations with contrasting cultures. The book "starts from the beginning" for the new player, but even the most experienced practitioner will find something useful.

When I was manager of the Army-wide Technology Transfer Program, I found the First Edition so useful that I gave copies to the technology transfer representatives at each of the 50+ Army Labs. This new edition is timely because of rapid changes in the environment in both government labs and industry, as well as changes in the law and in Administration policy which make cooperation easier.

The authors consider the impact of cultural factors on technical cooperation, and show by example how cultural barriers can be overcome. In this case, the most important cultural factor is the contrast between the very reasons the organizations exist- "mission" vs. "profit". Most government labs are created and funded to achieve a specific "mission" (e.g. develop some type of military system). Diversion of effort from the mission is seen as improper and possibly illegal. In contrast, most industrial companies are created to make a profit for their owners. Undue delay, risk to intellectual property, or other threat to profit is unacceptable. Before these organizations can cooperate effectively, there must be a reasonable prospect of advancing the lab's mission while providing a (present or future) profit to the company. Finding mutually interesting projects and negotiating mutually beneficial agreements requires vision and understanding. The authors point out some of the needs and constraints likely to motivate each party, and provide examples of successful agreements.

Fortunately the law permi! ts arrangements which are much more flexible than those controlling government procurement, and the authors explore these options. The most popular tool, the Cooperative R&D Agreement, is analyzed in great detail.

The authors also address the practical problem of finding potential partners and provide a list and description of several matchmaking organizations, mostly government- funded, which facilitate contact between the parties. In the last few years the World Wide Web has become especially useful for finding partners, and the computer disk included with the book speeds access to the most important sites.

This book is really useful because it combines a broad conceptual understanding with a direct approach to practical problems. It combines the "why" with the "how" in a manner which is rare in any book on any subject.

Cooperative effort offers significant opportunities, but has many pitfalls. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to profit from the opportunities and avoid the pitfalls.

A unique, essential resource for technology exploitation.
This book is about technology application for competitive advantage in the international marketplace. It is a progressive, how-to handbook that leads the reader from the foundations of government-industry differences to the capstone of government-industry cooperation in joint efforts of technology deployment, economic strength, and national security.

The book is a second edition of a previous sell-out success. The new edition arises from the information explosion, and new government policies in the Technology Transfer and Advancement Act of 1995.

The authors discuss the nitty-gritties of core competencies, funding and profit, and intellectual property rights. They address risk, technology cycle time, product versus process orientation, and the Federal Acquisition Regulation culture.

The chapter on "Building Bridges" is especially useful, describing three elements of successful technology exchange: networking, team building, and face-to-face coordination. The text defines "bridging organizations" as those that exist to enable technology exchange. It lists many examples in an appendix and in an enclosed disk file that includes clickable web site addresses.

A key contribution is the careful description of the cooperative research and development agreement (CRDA), which is a powerful, yet complex, mechanism for technology transfer. The book includes a model CRDA that may be used by readers to develop their own working agreements in practice.

The authors discuss measurement, including both activity and process metrics, and offer examples for consideration. They close with a discussion of leadership as an encompassing influence, and present a seven-step prescription for technology transfer success.

This is a book for the real world. Those who battle in the business arena--and seek new means to prevail--should not pass it up.
