Besides what you'd expect to find in a survey book, Talk Thru the Bible also offers explanations of Hebrew poetry which you can understand, nifty charts, and outlines detailed enough that you could develop sermons from them. All the articles are short and easy to digest--which is perfect for the micro wave attention spans (short) we all seem to have these days. This would be my choice of a textbook if I were to teach Old or New Testament survey.

As one who has experienced the death of his child, I have yearned for the company of other brokenhearted fathers. Only those who have been here truly understand. Treasures of Darkness gave me a companion in the shadows. It brightened my way along this path.
This is not another "grief" book but a collection of experiences and hope. If you are a parent who has lost a child, recently or long ago, you owe it to yourself to read this book. If you have a loved one or friend who has lost a child, read the
book and then give it to them. It will allow you a glimpse of their new and strange world and will give them the realization that they are not alone in this tragic place.
It should be stated that Ken is still in the process of grief. He will continue to learn more and be able to see God's hand from different perspectives as he goes.
The book is well worth reading but my recommendation would be that you don't read it while you are in the throws of grief. It would be better to be read much later or prior to grief invading your life.

These disocveries were made in two areas, which never impacted on one another, until one person became skilled in both areas, linguistics, especially Greek, and the indispensible rigor in philosophic training for which Telford is well known. For until now, there have been few scholars, sensitive to both the profoundest philosophic problems and the nuances of linguistic implications.
Telford discovered that what the Greeks had tried to say was obscured by the projection, upon their language and their works, of precisely the reductive way of thinking that their philosophy was trying to correct. It is as if, in Othello, the only way to the understanding of Desdemona were through the eyes of Iago, or as in Much Ado About Nothing, the way to the understanding of Hero must be through the eyes of John the Baptist.
Above all, Telford has demonstrated that the Greeks were well aware of the procedure they used while today there are few who even understand the relevance of procedure to science or philosophy. And it is procedure, far more that discoveries consequent to procedure, that constitutes, not only the greatest contribution of the Greeks, but the knowledge from which modern science might most sensibly profit. For the Greeks were conscious of their own acts far beyond our own awareness of ourselves. And no one has better articulated this factor of science, discovered by the Greeks, the variety of ways inquiry might be accomplished, than Telford.

Sacajawea proved very valuable in finding food, acting as an interpreter for the exploring party and guiding them through lands that she remembered from her younger days. She was a Shoshoni girl who was captured at age 11 and married to another tribe.
This book serves as a good introduction (it was mine) to a fascinating woman who's place in history, while assured, probably is not as esteemed as it actually should be. She is too often overlooked in the school books or her contributions minimized. I barely remember anything (other than her name) from my days of learning history in school. And I was astonished to find that William Clark was the guardian of her two children after her death (before the choice of her husband).
On oversight this is a good book for a history buff or for someone interested in Native American History. It is also easy to understand and read and would benefit children from, say, 12 and up.
Those who are into history should read this book without any hesitation. This book falls into different categories of history, including American History, Native American Heritage, etc. This very informative narrative would easily be liked by history fans, as well as other ordinary people. Personally, I have never been a fan of history, but this book was very fascinating to me. The structure of this account "allows readers to experience what the explorers wrote about Sacajawea." (P. 11) Thomasma presents summaries of journal entries, along with a description of the points made out by that entry. In between each entry is a summary of the other events between the respecting passages. This structure gives a very effective way of helping the reader understand Sacajawea's importance and value along the Lewis and Clark Expedition. I highly recommend this 92 page narrative not only for the historical aspect, but also for the great story line it gives to the reader, and for the respect developed by reading this account of Sacajawea, the young mother who set a good example for all people.

After I bought it from Amazon (lowest price, believe me), I was very satisfied. The author explains all topics in a clear manner and provides interesting case examples. This is one book that I will use as reference over and over. I can't imagine myself without it now. I also can't imagine a better business law book.
