Love Clifford!
My daughter loves these books and I love having versions in both Spanish and English. We have about 30 Clifford books and I never tire of reading them over and over.

Great math builder
This book not only teaches to count, but to add as well. I love the Clifford series and my 3-yr old does too. We own these books in Spanish and it's a great series to have.

Wonderful -- full of information
The Channel Islands are known by the French as the Anglo Norman Isles, thus the title. The author, a Jersey man and international banker, has gathered from his own collection, the most detailed information for this series. The result is a reasoned and enthralling story, richly illustrated with 365 pages, from the earliest times to the present. As the author puts it, "The aim of this book is to introduce the currencies of the Channel Islands to students and collectors of three distinct series; the Gaulish -- particularly the Armorican -- series, current in the Channel Island region over 2000 years ago; the French series which was the staple currency of the Islands for a millenium; and the 'modern' series, current for the last 200 years. These three subjects are bound together by the history of the Islands, of France and of Britain; and throughout the later narrative it will also be seen that British currency plays it part." This is the one book a collector must own to study this series.

The Definitive Series on Marine Corps Sniping
When the Chandlers started this series, they did so with the goal of producing the most complete reference regarding Marine Corps sniping ever produced. They've succeeded - and then some. In this, Volume 1 of the Death from Afar series, you are taken into a world to which few are privy. You are exposed to everything - all aspects of sniping are exposed in intimate detail. You see candid photos of Marine snipers in action, original notes and log book reproductions, articles on the use and misuse of snipers in battle. This book would be worth it for the pictures alone, but there is so much more. It is so detailed, there are even lists of the serial numbers and dates of issue for 10x Unertl scopes. I can't imagine who would ever need such a thing, but it should give you an idea of the depth of research that was put into creating this book and the commitment and dedication that the authors have to their subject.

These books are limited editions and can be difficult to come by, but they are worth whatever you pay. Excellent.

SCOUT-SNIPER: ¿The Definitive Retrospect¿
Myself being U.S. Army Sniper respect the effort, detail and accuracy Chandler & Chandler placed in this exceptional five volume set "DEATH FROM AFAR- Marine Corps Sniping (vol. I-V)".
Each volume is mass of information and trivia for the long-range shooter. There is much history and deeds to read between the covers of each volume. The series of volumes cover a horde of topics on weapon systems, scopes, day/night optics, training, tips, trivia, history, insignia, operations, personalities, missions and the list goes on and on.
The books are oversized hardcover with loads of illustrations and pictures. The text is clean and crisp. The content is not all that structured in any kind of order; it can be a little difficult at times to find certain information. I believe C&C realized this themselves and added an index in volume five covering all the data in the previous volumes.
This series of books is destine to become a very sort after set of books on the topic of sniping if not all ready. It is a must own for any true military historian, sniper or marine. C&C thanks again for a great job!

Dinosaur

beautifully presented photos and drawings
The DK series of eyewitness books are all fabulous, but this has to be my favorite. Dinosaurs are always appealing to children and adults and this book is no disappointment. Superb studio-quality, well lit photographs give you close-up shots of teeth and bones so real, you'll feel like they're right there for you to touch and pick up.

Theories on how dinosaurs really looked on the outside and how they walked are explored. Every caption has a tidbit of information that is interesting to anyone who reads it. A book like this will keep a child of any reading age occupied for no less than an hour on a road trip... and it will constantly be read over and over again... it's just intriguing and beautifully presented.

Great DINOsaur book...
I appreciate this book because it gives you drawings and paintings of how prehistoric creatures lived millions of years ago. It gives a perfect understanding of the study and also art of Paleontology. This book is, in my opinion, 1 of 2 of my most favorite books ever published for the scientific review of more than just a few species...This concludes my review.

DON'T LAUGH AT ME : Norman Wisdom..The best book I ever read
Norman Wisdom touched my heart when I was just a boy and he has never let go. After reading his autobiography, DON'T LAUGH AT ME, I was moved to tears with the sadness and heartache he had to endure in his childhood days. To say Norman's life was an emotional rollercoaster would be an understatement, but do not fear, for as many tears of sadness in this book, there are tenfold the number of tears of laughter.
If you like Norman now, you will want to adopt him as your grandfather by the time you read this book. A great biography, I highly recommend it.

The heart-warming life story of the well loved British comic
For years Norman Wisdom has delighted audiences with his wonderfully self-depricating comedy. His remarkable story - his working-class background through to his rise to fame and top-of-the-bill appearances at the London Palladium - is charted in this the first part of his autobiography. This book scores over other showbiz biographies thanks to Wisdom's warmth, affection, and sheer humility, and, above all, this story of "working-class lad makes good" serves as an uplifting reminder to us all that, with hard work and determination, one can achieve anything.

Beautiful! And my 20 students agree!
I picked this story up in the Spring to read to my first grade class around Earth Day. First I read it to them with the illustrations, and then we read it a second time, with the children closing their eyes and visualizing. They loved this and produced the most amazing drawings, with writing of how they'd dance upon the Earth. I recommend this book highly to parents or teachers for a variety of reasons: It is beautiful, it inspires imagination, and it reflects love for the Earth.

Incredibly moving book!
Not knowing the subject of this book, I sat down to read "Earth Dance" out loud to my young daughter (not because she can't read, but because we enjoy reading to each other). I began as I usually begin a book -- finding the passion in the words and the mood of the illustrations as I read out loud. I was immediately enchanted by the beauty of the words in this poem, and so moved by the message that, to my surprise, tears began to well in my eyes! I was reading the line "You are twirling so gracefully, carefully, not even the sand moves as you spin..". Surprised by my reaction, I looked through my own teary eyes into (surprise again!)the teary eyes of my ten-year-old daughter. She was as deeply affected as I! That truly is the hallmark of a good poet and artist, who can touch your heart and mind so completely with words.

Hours later, still deeply affected by the story, illustrations, and our reaction to them, I realized that I had just experienced a gentle magic moment, no small thing for an adult who has read a hundred children's books.

I cannot say enough about how good this book is --for children and the adults who read to them.

To the mothers of future ecologists, future artists, future parents...to all the readers of Joanne Ryder's Earth Dance: dance slowly, spin gently, and carry this book home to share with all the children of our precious Earth.

An Economic History of Medieval Europe
Published in Textbook Binding by Addison-Wesley Pub Co (July, 1994)
Author: Norman John Greville Pounds
Amazon base price: $62.00
Used price: $59.64
Average review score:

Comprehensive and wonderful
Norman Pounds has put together the comprehensive book for understanding medieval Europe through the study of economic systems. The book is designed for the medieval specialist, but a non-specialist would easily understand the material. The first three chapters, which are a chronological introduction to the topic, are absolutely spectacular and could easily stand on their own. The next five chapters deal with the topic thematically. There are chapters on population, agriculture, manufacturing, trade, and towns. Each chapter treats the subject chronologically, and are packed with insight. The final two chapters discuss the economic changes taking place in the Late Medieval period.

Pounds has really mastered the material, including the most comprehensive bibliography ever assembled. Much space is devoted to discussing the evidence and the historiographical debate surrounding each sub-topic. Perhaps the only downfall to Pounds' wonderful work is that it is really limited to the periods from which there is substantial evidence. Outside of Chapter Two, the Early Medieval period is hardly discussed. This is, however, made up for with spectacular analysis in the later periods.

Finally, the graphics alone make this book worth the hunt. There are amazing maps, charts, graphs, and illustrations all over this book, all of which are quite usefull.

A new perspective on history
This book discusses the period between the end of Roman empire and the Renaissance both as a chronological process and as a series of foci on topics as commerce, manufacturing and population. My reason for warmly recommending this book is that it gives an insight into important developments in the middle ages, for example the role of the monasteries as a kind of early multinationals was an eye opener for me. An other reason is that it explains patterns you can see in present day Europe. The way towns were founded in the 12th and 13th century explains a lot of the spacing of the cities you see today. The development of the plough gives insight in why what parts of the countryside were populated.etc. The list is endless. For me it meant the opening up of a whole new field of interest; economic history. Recommended, also for Americans visiting Europe, who really want to understand what they see in Italy, France and Flanders to mention a few countries. Walking through Troyes is a different experience if you have read this book. For the English centred there is a drawback, for an English book England is relatively sparcely mentioned. The book is well written and has a pleasant style.

great for students and teachers alike!
Edmund abstracts difficult subject matter...you won't find a better summary of the scientific method anywhere else. Edmund provides a concise summary of the method, its history and the problems it faces today in the science education reform movement (which has wrongfully excluded it). The best value you'll ever get for $5!

excellent !!!
Outstanding review of a complex subject.
