Living in victory!
This is one of the best books I've read (and I've read a lot of them) on overcoming the various obstacles confronting a Christian as they attempt to walk out the destiny that God has planned for their life. I found the chapter on overcoming low self-worth to be particularly insightful and helpful.

This book is full of practical strategies, spiritual principles, and wisdom that can be applied to the situations we face in everyday life. There are "Principles to Remember" in each chapter, and Scripture verses to help us stay focused and moving in the right direction. It's a book I'll pick up and refer to often ....

I would recommend it very highly.

I love this book!
It was helpful, thought-provoking, and easy to read.It made me want to keep on "keeping on."

A book to refer back to again and again!
I can not say enough positive things about this outstanding book. As a child therapist, who works with many children in the foster care system and increasing numbers of adopted children, Theraplay has become the single most important tool in my repertoire of therapy modalities. It is very exciting to find a method of working with children that offers practical and impactful strategies to try, which are very different from what you may already be doing. I have also attended the Theraplay trainings at the Theraplay Institute in Chicago and am near completion of the Theraplay Certification process. Even if I am not using Theraplay with a particular child, the foundation and understanding of attachment that this model has given me pervade my work. Parents of children that I am using Theraplay with often report dramatic progress in their child's behavior and attachment to them in a short period of time. One father of an internationally adopted child that I am using Theraplay with said it best. He stated, "We finally came to realize that our child was not going to be able to fully benefit from all the supportive services we were taking him to (including occupational therapy, speech therapy, and physical therapy) until he was able to form an attachment with us. Theraplay has allowed that attachment to form and we are now seeing much more progress in other areas of development."

The model of using parents as co-therapists, as presented in the book, is very empowering to parents and the parents I use Theraplay with have many positive comments to say about this. One foster/adoptive mother recently told me she thinks that every foster or adoptive parent should be required to learn Theraplay. She adds "It has given me a whole new understanding of my adopted children and their needs."

Theraplay is not only useful for children with attachment and bonding difficulties, but I have found it particularly useful for children diagnosed with ADHD and Oppositional Defiant Disorder. This is a comprehensive book that you will refer back to again and again.

This book offers elegant solutions to complex problems.
Jernberg and Booth explore attachment beginning in the nursery, what it looks like when all goes well and when it doesn't. Difficult concepts are presented in ways that make them highly accessable. The beauty of this work, is in the solutions that are offered. As I read this book, I found my self saying repeatedly, "this make too much sense." After reading Theraplay, I registered for the next training offered in Chicago. Anyone working with children in most any capacity would benefit from this well researched, time-tested work. Reading this book and attending the training has had a tremendous, positive impact on my work as a child therapist.

Exquisite and Enchanting
Beautiful images and masterful writing combine to give the reader a glimpse of the economically devastated but spiritually rich lives of the people in Haiti.

Pictures of Manbos, Oungans, and Bokos make the book come alive and speak to us of the beauty and wonder of the misunderstood religion of Vodou.

More from this consistently pleasing author/photographer!
VODOU: Visions and Voices of Haiti by Phyllis Galembo

Phyllis Galembo's photographic skills are legend among those whose interest extends to African and Afro-Caribbean religions. In this area she never fails to impress and satisfy. I am happy to have this book.

In addition to her brilliant photographs, Galembo offers detailed, profound and soulful explanations of Vodou belief. She is one of only a very few authors to have done so. This book will serve to inform and enlighten both the curious and the expert. Bravo!

A treasure for any child's book collection
This book is beautifully illustrated and has such a warm and wonderful message. As someone whose father sent her to school with peanut butter, raisin, honey and banana sandwiches, I felt this book spoke directly to me. It's beautiful and funny to watch how this little boy just crumples with embarrassment over the eccentric behavior of his parents, but then comes to realize how their love is what is truly exceptional about them. It's just a great tale to which many of us can relate. By the way, you have to try peanut butter, banana, raisin and honey sandwiches! They're great.

What a hoot!
All parents seem a bit odd to their kids. This book makes you laugh at your differences. Very cleaver. Teaches love and acceptance and respect of our uniqueness.

Wine lover's dream
This has to be one of the best books on wine ever published. The photographs are outstanding and I particularly liked the interviews with wine makers. I can recommend this book to anyone interested in wines, in book layout, in photography AND in the Southern Cape wine reagons. Excellent fare.

STUNNING photography - a must-have for any wine lover!
This is probably the most beautiful book on wine I have ever encountered. I love it! Although it focuses primarily on the South African wine industry, the information on grape growing, winemaking and brandy making is really complete and relevant to any winemaking region. The photography in this book is of the highest quality and is simply breathtaking. Anyone who has visited South Africa will agree that it has probably the most beautiful wine region in the world. This book's pictures tell the same story with excellent photography. Oh and by the way, it is the official textbook of the Cape Wine Academy in South Africa (sure doesn't look like your typical textbook -too colorful and easy to read!) I would recommend this book to ANY wine lover since a lot can be learned from it in a fun way. Makes a stunning 'coffee table' book.

Great book of activities to teach the meaning of math.
I would recommend this book for teachers who want a wealth of resources for teaching math in a meaningful way. It does not provide any problems or worksheets but instead gives you multiple ways to teach students math. I use it weekly. I use the activities and then I assign a page out of the book to check what they have learned.
