A Must Read!!!
This marvelous book kept me up all night! Page after page strikes the reader with both keen insight and poetic elegance into the life and times of Jesus Christ. Mr. Kauffman has done a great job portraying the various people that Jesus may have come in contact with and how these encounters forever changed their lives. This is a must read book for anyone between the ages of 13 and 113 who is interested in learning more about the pivotal force behind Christianity. Thank you, Mr. Kauffman, for providing us with this delightful masterpiece. I strongly recommend this book!
Heat Kernel and Quantum Gravity (Lecture Notes in Physics. New Series, m 64)
Published in Hardcover by Springer Verlag (May, 2000)
Amazon base price: $49.95

Some of the best in mathematical physics!
Spectral theory for the heat equation represents one of the
more exciting points of interaction between math and physics:
It also serves as a deep link, via spectral theory, between geometry(math), and quantum gravity(physics). While the subject has roots far back, this lovely book presents some of the more exciting developments in the past decade. One of the success stories in interdisciplinary theoretical science! It is well written, and will be a great source for grad students. This very nice book further points toward the research trends of the future. Moreover, the results presented in the book are timeless. The book will be of value also ten years from now. Being an acknowledged authority in the subject, this author is in a unique position to write a book on the central themes and theories in the subject.

If you thought Ash Road was good.....
Then you should read this. As a result of an argument, a whole class stays back from the annual town picnic to help their teacher find aboriginal paintings in a nearby cave. While in the cave, a violent storm breaks out and the group get stuck in the cave. When they come out they find their teacher and classmate have disappeared and their small town of Hills End has been devastated by floods. Their fight for survival in a devastated town where no adult is around, their experiences and the things they learn about each other makes a book that you will not forget in a hurry. This is one of the best books I have ever read. You won't regret it!
I Do Not Like It When My Friend Comes to Visit

Nostalgia
My parents bought me this book when I was young, and I just love it. I still own my copy. When I tried to get other books by this writer, I found they are all out of print. Too bad. I think he speak right to the heart and humour of children. I identify with the little (and extremely ugly) girl who has trouble with putting on her coat, slides upside down the slide, and wants to run with her baby brother's stroller rather than walk. She is the impulses and desires in each one of us.

Outrageous!
I've read the first page to a multitude of people and they simply don't know what to say. It starts off in the South Atlantic Ocean in Admiralty Bay with US Navy's "Operation Deep Freeze" with a "something" that "suddenly came roaring up out of the sea through no less than 37 feet of ice, and went on up into the sky like a vast silvery bullet(!)"
I've read the first two chapter 3 times now and maybe after finishing this book report, I can get on to the other chapters. The is jammed packed with late 1960's open-minded research and questions that begged explainations. Another great quote comes with the usual footnotes on page 14.
"Why should a Navy man know that a ridge 50 miles long by 15 miles wide rose 2 1/4 miles overnite in the South Atlantic in 1924? Ridiculous! This was of concern only to the cable companies." Enjoy!...

Excellent Writing
Stephen Vicchio does an outstanding job of conjecturing the eternal musings of two great haters. A real step forward in exemplifying the ideals of forgiveness and of self examination. Vicchio's portrayal of God is also a real twist of imagination. I highly recommend this piece.
Ivan Aivazovsky: Painter of the Sea (Great Painters Series)
Published in Hardcover by Parkstone Press (October, 1997)
Amazon base price: $40.00
Average review score:
Amazing book
This is the most amazing painter of the ocean that I know. This book is absolutely the best! It contains around 150 color plates of Aivazovsky's paintings, and these reproductions could not have been better in quality. Breathtaking scenes of the ocean in all its different states--calm, cloudy, or raging and stormy, in the moonlight and in the sun, in the bay, harbor or in the open waters, scenes of shipwreck, sinking boats, of smugglers, ports and merchants. Absolutely amazing paintings!
Ivan Pavlov
Published in Hardcover by Viking Press (March, 1980)
Amazon base price: $22.00
Average review score:
Informative, interesting, and detailed
Although somewhat out-of-date (frequently referring to the physiological and psychological developments of the 1970s), this book provides a thorough account of Ivan Pavlov's life and his research in physiology and behavior.
