Wonderfully entertaining!
This was my introduction into the works of Fay Robinson, the 2001 RITA Award-Winning author, and it will definitely not be the last book I read from her. She found a wonderfully new topic with this story, dipping into the world of deception within a very unique family, and presenting surprisingly warm characters that were enjoyable to read.

The other reviewers provided very detailed descriptions of what this book is about, however, I would like to add a few comments on the content of this book. The details Ms. Robinson provided about the unusual career of scam artists, from the very simple to the very elaborate ways they "earn" their money, is alone a fascinating read. However, add a little romance and a scam artist on the run from her own family, and then the father of her child, and you have a real winner!

I highly recommend this book, and find it refreshingly different and very entertaining.

High Scores for Mrs. Wright
Fay Robinson has done it again in creating dynamic characters and a fast-paced read.

Private investigator Whit Lewis travels to St. Augustine, FL to discover if Susan Wright is really Emma Webster. Falling for the beautiful restaurant owner is not part of his plan.

Susan has things to hide, and Whit, who masquerades as a tourist, hasn't been entirely honest with her, either.

Gaining each other's trust while thwarting danger, and trying not to fall in love are two of this story's plot points, but the talented Ms. Robinson adds a suspense dynamic, wonderfully drawn secondary characters, and sparkling prose to create a stunning adventure of intrigue and deception that will keep you reading. Very highly recommended.

has the right stuff
In 1979 Cleveland, weary teenager Emma Webster wants her dad Ray to stop his scams, especially those that use her and her younger brother J.T. Ray swears this will be the last one and Emma acquiesces and successfully but barely pulls off the venture. An elated Ray tells her they will be more careful in the future. Knowing it will never end yet feeling guilty for deserting J.T., Emma vanishes into the night.

In the present, J.T. hires private investigator Whitaker Lewis to find his sister, missing for over two decades. Though the trail is brilliantly covered, Whitaker thinks he may have found the elusive Emma in St. Augustine in the personality of Susan Wright, owner of the Illusions restaurant. As Whitaker continues to investigate, he begins to fall in love with his target. To her chagrin, she reciprocates his feelings. However, what will happen to any permanent relationship not built on trust when she learns the truth that he is no tourist?

Fans who relish an engaging contemporary romance will want to read award winning Fay Robinson's latest tale. The story line is fun as Whitaker and Susan play a game of cat and mouse even while love blossoms. The support cast augments the prime plot by making the lead characters seem human and adding to the conflict of what happens when discovery and disclosure occur. As she did with MR. AND MRS. WRONG, Ms. Robinson provides a fun yet strong novel that shows once again this author knows right from wrong.

Love it!
I own everything written by either Arnold Lazarus, Phd or Allen Fay, MD. Their best ...are the books they did together. This book is a gem. No shrink, patient or psychology student should be without it!

One Little Gem of a Book
The authors have distilled from thousands of therapy sessions some truly effective healthy philosophies. It's a quick read which delegitimizes some common irrationalities and gets to the heart of the self-help matter. A good extension of REBT and CBT ideas...addresses disturbance-causing beliefs head-on. You won't regret buying it. A welcome change from all the crappy psych books out there!

Finally the antidote for crazy thinking!
This book is terrific! It helped me realize that I was poisoning my happiness with my own thinking. More importantly, it gave me the remedies I needed for achieving a more balanced outlook and better mental health.

a real gem
I picked this book up on a whim while browsing and was so delighted with it that I shared it immediately with friends and family. I felt that many of the stories rang true with a realistic modernism, and the couple of ventures into futuristic sci-fi were interesting and satisfying. I recommend this book to all readers and expect that most women will recognize bits of themselves in the pages! A very enjoyable read. I am anxious to read more of Weldon's work.

A Hard Time to be a Father
Great storyteller. Full of delightful insights. Will find yourself saying "So true, so true." Could not put it down.

Very amusing stories.
I enjoyed this book greatly. Fay Weldon's writing can be as unattractive as Goya's art. This short story collection is very gripping but not hideous at all . Typically, of this author, there are some wicked characters portrayed. And there are some deadly accurate vignettes focused on New Zealanders and the English: somewhat brutal, but nothing unfair. There are some optimistic stories included which might be inspirational, particularly with parent / child themes. I couldn't put it down.

Maternity Ward: Final Flight of a WWII Liberator

Vivid WWII History
"Maternity Ward" not only serves up a wealth of new information for Ploesti buffs, it provides a clear introduction for readers unfamiliar with the dramatic low-level attack on Romanian oil. The diary format and numerous personal photos give the book an air of immediacy not found in other histories of the 1943 mission. We feel a palpable sense of loss for the young men who did not return, relief for those who did. Stephen Ambrose cites "Maternity Ward" prominently in his recent "Wild Blue" -- with good reason, as Ms. Aronowitz's book is a "must-read" for anyone interested in the difficult conditions faced by airmen in the Mediterranean Theatre, and the courage they displayed in carrying out their duties.

VERY well done. Mystery solved after 60 years.
For those of us devoted to the study of Operation Tidal Wave, Ms. Aronowitz has performed a great service. This excellent work gives us not only a close look at Bill Fay and his comrades who flew the low-level Ploesti raid of 8-01-43, but also re-writes aviation history by describing WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED to John Ward and his crew and aircraft. No other account of this mission reveals Ward & Anderson's Ionian Sea ambush and their subsequent amazing journey. All other accounts I've read have the entire crew being killed at the target. Great investigative reporting. Also, obviously a work of great love, which I heartily endorse, given that these young men took off knowing not only the danger, but the necessity of their actions. They thought that if they destroyed the target, other young men would not have to follow them. Well done, Ms. Aronowitz.

Maternity Ward
This book was a very moving account of the life of the crew of a B-24 Liberator during WWII. Based on the daily writings of William Fay, the details of his stories have been thoroughly researched and explained by the author, so the reader knows exactly what William Fay was describing in his diary. The tragedy of war and death, the daily hardships of living in the windy, hot desert, and the tenseness of always awaiting news of the next mission, have all been weaved into a fascinating story.

Struggling for freedom as the ship sinks
Brilliant book. The story of the struggle of a woman for liberation and equality as her host nation slips from existence at the hands of a formidable enemy. Detailed review to follow

Amazing!
Extremely moving story. The author recounts for us how she survived through an abusive childhood, an arranged marriage as a teenager, being a refugee of two wars, and being widowed twice. Through all of her experiences, she never comes across as being helpless or an object of pity, but rather as a strong woman who will prevail despite the circumstances. Through reading her story, I finally began to comprehend what it means to be brought up and live in a patriarchal society and through this why anthropologists put so much emphasis on kinship structures when describing cultures. Her story also provides excellent background into the issues of concern for Islamic feminists- -especially child custody laws. This book is a must for anyone interested in women's roles in Islamic society. It also provides useful firsthand description of the Palestinian flight from Israel in 1947-48.

story of the evolution of woman in a man's society
This is a very brave book to write for someone from the Arab world, and very interesting to read for one who is familiar with that world. The book chonicles the growth from girl to independent woman in a society which is against giving women their independence. And it is someone's true story. It is a must for people interested in women's rights in an arab society.

Words Delicious Words
"Cooking is like love. It should be entered into with abandon or not at all." ~Harriet Van Horne

This eclectic collection was first published in 1996 and since then, this literary gem is back in print with a new cover. Sherman Asher Publishing is trying to change the world one book at a time.

Poetry and Cuisine unite in a blissful expression of love of food, cooking and writing.
The pleasure of poetry and cuisine are given a voice in one volume.

The tastes and aromas in food are just as important as the recipes themselves. A great poem about food can recreate the powerful images and emotions that inspired the poet while they were cooking.

"The syrup should drip in an amber pool
Over the white flan, reflecting the light.
Uncomplicated, delicate
Cooked so it slides gently on the plate.
A taste like sun-dried roads,
Red geraniums in shaded patios,
And dreaming in the afternoon...."
-Deborah Casillas who also shares her Flan Recipe

60 contributors shared their heirloom recipes and each has a short biography at the end of the book. These recipes were tested by Lisa Sarenduc.

The recipes and poems often share opposite pages. The cook/poet is the author of both.

The Contents include:

Assembling the Pieces: Appetizers, Relishes, Salsas
Soups and Salvation
Grist for the Mill: Pastas, Grains, and Breads
Entrees
Desserts and Remembrance
Comfort Foods
Café Culture

In the first chapter Anne Marie Mackler writes a cute story about her brother Bernie chasing her about trying to make her eat a pickled pepper which she finally learns to enjoy. Her recipes included dill pickle juice and jalapenos and is called James' Winter Salsa.

When Marian Olson speaks of onions as "pearls of the earth" wanting tears, I keep wanting to find her and ask her if she has put the onions in the refrigerator. I no longer cry when chopping onions, most of the time.

Some of the recipes:

Fig Cake
Golden Spanokopita
Chicken Ginger Soup

New England Strawberry Pie
Chicken Breast A L'Orange
Sukiyaki

Many of the poems will make you laugh, some are quite profound and will make you nostalgic for times gone by. Many poems take on a more narrative style. You might even add a few tears to the recipes now and then by accident. ;)

Essential for your culinary collection! Suddenly food becomes an unforgettable sensuous and emotional experience. Don't be surprised if all of a sudden you start
writing a poem in a moment of inspiration. To put it mildly: "I LOVE this book!"

Inspirational and Highly recommended.

A unique compendium of poetry and cuisine
Written With A Spoon: A Poet's Cookbook is a unique compendium of poetry and cuisine. First is a wonderfully crafted poem in celebration a food or a dining experience, followed by a mouth-watering recipe. For example, Mary Connell's "Celebration of Apples" is followed by Apple Onion Soup; Trinidad Sanchez's "Mama's Tortillas" is followed by Bertha's Mother in Law's Tortillas; Lorraine Lener Ciancio's "Suddenly From a Gentle June Day in the Mountains" is followed by Elvira's Kitchen Cake. Each poem is exquisite. Each recipe inspiring. Written With A Spoon is a perfect blending of nourishment for the mind, food for the soul, and sustenance for the body!

A Treasure Chest

Writer Of Realities
What a great and wonderful surprise with the pubication of this book. I expect it will astonish the rest of the world, as well. I wish you much success with your book and hopefully this hidden great gift of yours will nourish and grow more. I have read it and am very touched by its realities to life's wonders and woes. It seems to be everyone in verse. Congratulations to you. I really mean that and my sincere hope your gift of words continue to flourish. Again, well done.

A Poetic Journey
"Catch a Rhyming Star" represents a touching and compelling poetic journey; one woman's journey to emotional fulfillment and self-acceptance. It is a look into the heart of a woman that is deeply complex yet simple in its ability to see the beauty and joy in the most overlooked everyday experiences. We could all learn a great deal from the author, my mother, E. Fay Dyer-Austin, about slowing down and taking time to stop and smell the sunflowers. And Mom, things are smelling sweet!

This is how the old timers did it - and it still works!
For those out there who still refuse to put anything nylon on yer hoss - this is the book for you. In an age when "horse whisperers" dominate the public's view on training their mounts, it's good to still pay attention to the wisdom and insight passed on by men who rode for a living, day in and day out, on green mounts in rough country. Also includes sections on handling a herd, packing, campfire cooking, leather work, saddles, tack, early rodeo, and a few long-forgotten loops for those of you who think you know how to throw a rope! True buckaroos as well as greenhorns will love this book.

Fundamentals of EEG Technology: Basic Concepts and Methods
Volumes 1 and 2 are the gold standard texts for EEG students. They were written to take the beginning student with a high school diploma past the formidable R.EEGT. exam. Used book prices for both volumes are irrelevant. If you can acquire a copy of one or both volumes in any condition then you will possess a small fortune.

Review of Fundamentals of EEG Technology: Basic Concepts and
This is most complete text that I am aware of for anyone wanting to learn EEG Technology. The writing is clear with many illustration. It needs an update into the digital technology that is in current use, but the basics are all here. I hope it is available again soon.
