The Girl in White Armor: The Story of Joan of Arc
Published in School & Library Binding by Atheneum (1967)
Author: Albert Bigelow Paine

Used price: $13.95
Collectible price: $32.00

Excellant book!
"The Girl in White Armor" is the abridged version of Paine's much larger two volume work "Joan of Arc-Maid of France". While lacking some of the detail of the larger work (among other things a complete translation of the trial) it is still a very well written and well researched book about one of the greatest(perhaps THE greatest) individuals to ever live. ....................................... Although between the two the larger work is the better choice, I highly recommend "The Girl in White Armor" to anyone, especially younger readers, who want to learn more about Joan of Arc. I consider myself fortunate to have both of the above named works by this author, who spent several years in France doing research and tracing the footsteps of the Maid. He brings understanding, compassion, honesty and love to the story of Joan of Arc.

Very hear touching
I was only a girl when I read it. And I have searched many years for this wonderful book, So I could read it again. I never was able to find it. Good Luck....

God's Armor Bearer II
An excellent follow-up to Book I. I really enjoyed the way Brother Nance focuses on sticking to the work and not the position.

If you feel you've been called. This book is for you.
This is a very simple and easy reader. If you feel you've been called into the true service of GOD, then this book will definately satisfy a lot of your concerns while leading you into the unique and powerful walk with the LORD.

Medieval Knights
Would you like to know what knights wore for jousting or what it was like to live in a castle with turrets and a drawbridge?

This book has all that and more. Not only can you find out how to design a shield, construct a siege catapult and make a checkerboard and pieces, there are authentic recipes for knightly dishes. You can also take a quiz to see if you have what it takes to be a dragon slayer. (although dragons are rather cute and these days we don't slay them, we display them. As in cute little dragon statues.)

This book has fun information about:

Armor and Weapons
Making a Helmet
Becoming a Knight
Making a Knightly Sword
Heraldry
The Castle and Manor
Making a Castle
Food
Knightly Pastimes
Tournaments
Chivalry
A Knightly Code of Honor
The Crusades

There is also an interesting diary of Robert Fitzwilliam an 18 year old squire.

"Sir Richard answered five challenges to joust and broke four lances. His helm nearly came off during one pass, and his opponent's horse ran wide at another."

The author is an assistant curator of armor at the Royal Armories at the Tower of London. He has acted as a consultant on the world of the knight for television and film and is also the author of several children's books on the subject.

Perfect book for elementary students studying medieval life.

Teachers and students, would you like to spice up your knight life? Gravett's book is the perfect tool for you! The book includes chapters on: armor and weapons, being a knight, heraldry, castles and manor, food, knightly pastimes, and more. Each chapter also has student activities. Suitable for all reading levels, this book will enrich your study of Medieval Life

Entertaining and informative
A great book for those seeking basic information about medieval armor. Not real deep but enjoyable for both young readers and adults. A good companion for other sources.

Excellent book for kids AND adults
Knights in Armor gives an overview of the history of knighthood from its beginnings in the early Middle Ages to its demise. The book also explains the feudal system, women's roles in the Middle Ages and quick history of the Crusades. Especially wonderful are the full-page color photographs of people dressed in medieval clothes and armor depicting scenes of yesteryear. I highly recommend this book for anyone, not just children, who are interested in the Middles Ages (if only for the photographs).

No Mage ST should be without it
This book is fundamental in running a Mage chronicle. It gives plenty of background and setting information for those interested in that sort of thing. As any storytelling book, it gives tips and tried-and-true methods for storytelling. Additionally, there is a chapter dedicated to the explanation of philosophy, which is important because of Mage's philosophical nature. Also, the book further explains various systems like Paradox and Resonance and gives different options to change them to your liking. Moreover, the book gives an explanation of Seekings according to Essence types. All in all, the book is essential in fine-tuning and running any Mage chronicle.

Invaluable!
This is probably the most invaluable resource for any mage player or storyteller. It provides alternate rules for both magic and paradox and how to apply mage to alternate historical/fantasy settings. In terms of usability, it is indispensible and probably much better than the Guide to the Traditions.

spielberger gives lots of specifications and technical information which includes pictures and details of individual components before, during and after assembly. if you are looking for books on german tank tactics there are better books. but if you are interested in pure tank specifications and the proccess used to determine which specs are kept and/or modified this book is for you. its very well put together, organized and absolutly wonderful.

Great source for the Panzer IV series
One of the best buys for a very good source of data on the PzIV series.

Very detailed information. Very accurate information.

one of the best, factual combat histories i've ever read.
I joined the 46aib in Eupen around 3 jan 45. was assigned to co. C, as rifleman. when we got to Krefeld around the 1st of Mar., I got transferred to the Medical Detachment. Rode a litter jeep until Apr 4. Replaced Eddie Farris as medic with B co. He got an 88 bounced off his helmet & was evacuated (against his protestations!) Would like to hear from anyone still able to communicate. It was a great outfit--only took 2-3 weeks before everyone was friendly--understandable after what they all had been through, up to & including the Hurtgen forest.

h.de graff, a comrade of vic hillery in 5 a.d ,great book.BR
Having been a vet of the 5th i really enjoyen a well written review of the divisions travels. We were not covered in daily reports as many of the other A>D s were . We were known as PATTONS GHOSTS.Mr Hillery was assigned to Hq. CC B and later sent to an a armored infantry unit.My last contact with Vic was ar the 5th A.D. reunion in Colorado Springs this last Nov. I HAD PURCHASED TWO COPIES OF PATHS OF ARMOR so that my children and grandchildren could learn of the deeds of a cirizen soldier unit of the U,S. Army. H de graff

An essential source
Profusely illustrated (albeit in B&W) and quite detailed without being overwhelming. Though it could use another editing pass, overall it's indispensable for anyone with an interest in modern tank design and development. Some of the variants in this book haven't been heard of in the West, even by the well-informed.

A must-have resource from a team of true experts.
Simply put, this book is a must-have resource for anyone interested in the subject of Soviet/Russian armor and artillery. It is the most up-to-date and comprehensive reference book of its type published to-date; definately required reading.

Excellent Book!
This book is incredible. Offers the history of every species of turtle imaginable and even includes the issues that threaten them today. The book has sections explaining the anatomy of different turtles and how it has evolved throughout time. Great information, valuable resource, and incredible photos. Highly Recommend!!

Best General Book on the Subject- Must Have
I don't know how I have missed this book, but it is a wonderfully written book on the subject of turtle biology, with outstanding coverage of all groups of turtles, including sea turtles and the pleurodira. The subjects are very well selected to cover the range of turtle biology, and the collection of photographs is outstanding and very well edited for high quality. I'm just grateful that places like Amazon carry this book, because it is likely that you will not find it anywhere else. Most other books on the subject focus on pet care or classification (naming) of turtles, but this book takes a profoundly original view of their biology. The chapter on paleonology is the best general account of the state of this subject anywhere. A terrific value, and you will not be disappointed!!
