Useful and Fun for Anyone Who Loves Children's Books.
I am an Elementary School Librarian and I LOVE this calendar! It has great illustrations from many well-loved children's books. I also like that it notes the birthdays of authors and illustrators. This calendar is a great resource for librarians and teachers. Also, it's a lot of fun with bright and beautiful illustrations for anyone! The calendar grid is also a nice size with plenty of room to note appointments or whatever.

Brief but fascinating memoir
Ann Hyman is a regular columnist for the Florida Times-Union in Jacksonville, FL, and Chaos Clear as Glass is a slim collection of her memories growing up in the area, as well as stories of a trip to the Soviet Union. If you are familiar with Ann's column and can get a copy of this rare book, you will enjoy her relaxed, anecdotal style. The influences of Eugenia Price and other regional writers are recognizable in Ann's writing.

Outstanding summary and reference book for Kid Lit.
I have used the past four editions for a children's lit course for several years. The first five chapters provide an overvierw of approaching kid lit and a history of the field and its illustrators. The remainder has summaries of some 2000 books in various genres, areas and age ranges. The greatest aspect, and terrific for teaching or discussion, are the highlighted/boxed commentaries by various authors and experts. The appendices have lists of awards as well as short discussions on other media, getting kids and books together and censorship (boo, hiss.) A great text and invaluable resource.

Favorite Folktales of Vietnam.....
As the introduction tells us: "To most Americans, the word Vietnam brings to mind one thing - a war fought in muddy rice fields and steamy jungles, as we've seen it depicted in movies and popular television programs. Very few of us know much about the history, culture, or folklore of this ancient country." Fortunately, Sherry Garland's new book, Children Of The Dragon, will begin to change our perception. This superb collection of six folktales is engaging, rich in history, culture, and tradition, and includes author's notes at the end of each story to broaden understanding, and enrich its meaning. From The Legend Of The Monsoon Rains, Chu Cuoi-The Man In The Moon, and The Raven And The Star Fruit, to How The Tiger Got Its Stripes, The Boatman's Flute, and The Bowmen And The Sisters, each folktale is entertaining, satisfying, and runs the whole gamut of emotions, from silly and amusing to poignant and tragic. Award winning illustrator, Trina Schart Hyman brings each tale to life with her marvelously vibrant and vivid artwork. Perfect for youngsters 10 and older, Children Of The Dragon is a feast for both the eyes and ears, and is an intriguing and unique collection that transports the reader to another place and time.

A Practical Guide
Not only is Lukas's book easy to read and engaging, it has gotten me very excited about my career. Lukas draws not only on her own wealth of experience, but also on the experience of countless other consultants. This adds a depth to the book that I never expected. Instead of reading about one person's style of consulting, I am privy to expertise and stories from the trenches of the pioneers in the field. The worksheets, examples, appendices and bibliography will serve me well in my career. I anticipate that this book will be a constant resource for me - it will look dog-eared and well-used in no time at all!

Reflects a complex and multicultural heritage
Sicilian cuisine reflects a complex and multicultural heritage. Enhanced with the photography of Peter Cassidy, Cucina Siciliana: Authentic Recipes And Culinary Secrets From Sicily by freelance food and travel writer Clarissa Huyman showcases 75 dishes that selectively and impressively reflect the scope and breath of that culinary heritage. From Baked Haddock Palermo-Style; Sicilian Orange Cake; Marinated Tuna with Onions; and Gelo di melone (Watermelon Pudding); to Arancine di Giovanna Cavasino (Rice Balls); Biscotti al Sesamo (Sesame Seed Cookies); Ricotta Stuffed Bell Peppers; and Sarde A Beccafico (Stuffed Sardines), Cucina Siciliana is an enthusiastically recommended addition to personal and professional regional and ethnic cookbook collections.

Dick Hyman's Piano Pro
Dick Hyman, one of today's supreme jazz pianists, packs a lifetime of experience into this volume of 187, spiral-bound pages. He gives hints on improvisation and arranging; insights into the art of such jazz giants as Art Tatum, James P. Johnson, and his one-time mentor Teddy Wilson; a transcription of a previously-unknown Bix Beiderbecke piece; samples of his own compositions, including those for Woody Allen movies; and more. Hyman recounts, also, experiences on stage, in clubs, and in studios, describing the problems characteristic of each venue along with his own solutions. Finally, he invites us into his inner world with thoughts, musings, and speculations on musical matters ranging from piano touch and performing Chopin to electronic keyboards and modalism in jazz. It is part how-to, part autobiography, part "what if" and "why not". Highly recommended.

A Very Good Mix, Heavy on the Gershwin
A wonderful opportunity to learn some solid changes. It's a pleasure for us younger players to memorize pieces using such a reliable, high-quality fake book of jazz/pop standards--often sung by Sinatra, Bennett, Connick, Krall and many others. Please keep them coming Mr. Hyman, keep them coming.

Macroeconomics for students
This was an easy read for this econ student. I had trouble understanding the professor's explanations, so I read this book and the author explained the material better than the professor using different types of graphs, actual real world items and clear explanations. This is basic macro econ stuff that speaks about aggregate demand/supply, gdp, functions of money, banking system, business cycles, unemployment, federal deficit and fiscal policy.
