A little disappointed...
This book is written in an annoying "typewriter" font, which makes it difficult to read many of the equations, and even worse, the authors were for some reason averse to taking up any more space than necessary to write out a formula, leading to expressions like "1/n cosnx+nsinnx", which is ambiguous and confusing. They are not even consistent in their notation from one page to another. The book is also rife with errors, mostly typographical, so it may take considerable mathematical maturity to be able to follow some of the arguments.

On the other hand, the book does cover topics that one is not likely to find in other differential equations books, such as the use of Lie algebras to solve equations with symmetries, Floquet theory, and a whole chapter on hypergeometric functions, which I found interesting. Since the book is written primarily for physicists, not mathematicians, the authors are a little light on the rigour, and only simple results are proved. If you are really trying to understand the material this can make you feel a bit empty, but if you just want to know a certain result so you can get on with your work, it's useful for that.

In summary, don't get this book if you really want to understand the underlying theory of differential equations. But, if you don't care about theory and only want a reference for certain results, this book might be suitable for that purpose.

Revisionist History
Am I the only one who knows that Mr. Douglass lost his mother at an early age and that contrary to this book, she was not a major influence in his life? The author didn't do his homework. This book is full of inaccuracies about Douglass' life.

A Light in Dark Times / Maxine Greene and the Unfinished con
Boring -- Don't waste your money folks! I thought I was going to read some great things in critical pedagogy! The title should have been "...and unfocused rantings." She tries to make these "words" or "phrases of wisdom" and all they are is nonsense. They are so high falutin' I didn't get it and this is my favorite subject!!! or were they just stupid rantings. I can not express how terribly dissapointed I was. I'll never pick up another book by her. One star is the lowest I could go, if there was a 0 rating I would have used that!

Garbage
Jan R. Williams has made a career out of these nondescript updates and rewrites. Unfortunately, this book has serious problems and factual errors. Save your money!

Confused
I thought the general consensus of opinion was that Shakespeare didn't write "..a Shrew" since it is so different & inferior to "..the Shrew".
Perhaps I should actually buy this book and see huh?

What Is the Baha'i Faith?
Published in Paperback by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Co. (October, 1977)
Author: William McElwee Miller
Amazon base price: $4.95
Used price: $12.00

What the Baha'i Faith isn't.
At least that is what this book should have been titled. Rather than gather his information from sources both close and distant from the Baha'i faith's founder, Baha'u'llah, Mr. Miller elects to use only information he collected from the family of an estranged and angry brother of Baha'u'llah. A better book to read if you are really interested in what the Baha'i Faith is would be God Passes By written by Shoghi Effendi or The Revelation of Baha'u'llah by Adib Taherzadeh.
