Easiest, best pie crust
This is a delightful book that offers interesting glimpses of the Amish lifestyle and preserves some wonderful recipes. I greatly enjoy the photos and anecdotes in this book, as well as the terrific recipes.

I make the Hot Water Pie Crust in nine-crust batches and freeze it (it freezes perfectly). It is the easiest pie crust recipe I've ever used and tastes just like Grandma's. We don't have pie often, due to its fat content, but when we do, this crust never fails.

The oven-fried chicken recipe is also a winner. Again, it has a lot of fat, but it's great for special occasions and company dinners.

Kudos to Marcia for ensuring that these treasured recipes aren't lost, and for providing a peek at a unique way of life.

It's not diet food...but who cares? :)
This book and "New Recipes from Amish Country" are, without a doubt, my most used, most read and most worn cookbooks in my library. These cookbooks are not only wonderful for their recipes, but also for just curling up on the couch with a cup of coffee to browse through. The pictures and stories are wonderful. Marcia Adams is one of my favorite cookbook authors on the market today. She knows what she's writing about and her books are incredibly enjoyable to go through, not to mention educational.

My favorite recipes out of Cooking from Quilt Country - Whole Wheat Bread (wonderfully easy and very delicious), Cinnamon Rolls (great icing!) and Potato Pancakes (I still haven't found a recipe that can match the flavor of this one)

The best cookbook I've ever used
This is the best cookbook I own. The recipes are relatively simple but also unique in a way. I especially like the vegetable dishes. I use this cookbook as a wedding present all the time. My wife makes the Amish apple pie and it is the best. Every New Years Day I make the cabbage rolls and they are outstanding. The crushed ginger snaps make it special. Men and women who cook should own this cookbook.

What's to say? It's the best - that's all.
READ THESE BOOKS - NOW! Edding's writes the best fantasy. Just begin today! The story, the characters - everything is just amazing. I love David Eddings.

Honestly, the best series I have EVER read!!!!
Eddings is without a doubt the greatest fantasy writer alive. The Elenium(and the Tamuli) are wonderful sets. The six books comprise the tale of well developed characters with amazing plots. The constant shifts in plot make for an interesting tale and will never make you want to put it down! If you love Fantasy, I give this series the highest honors and suggest it to all! Do not hesitate!

The best fantasy series ever!!! In other words its okay.
David Eddings worked out any kinks he had in previous series, very few, in his third series of books. The Elenium is an absolutely amazing collection of people, tension and humor. Eddings' characters feel look and talk in a real, incredibly humorous (sarcasm, with touches of irony, in a patronizing manner). It's so much fun you have to read it over and over again because every line is worth it. Eddings in the manner of great fantasy, even manages to comment on religion, politics and marriage while making you enjoy it and ask for more. In short he is absolutely the best author ever and achieves what Homer was looking for and never accomplished with the Odyssey...creating something epic

Outstanding! Thanks David!
Wow! I can honestly say I have never before been inspired to cook much less create a wonderful meal -- until now. David's recipes are presented simply and lovingly (wonderful hints and personal observations supplied by the author with many of the recipes). Recipes for dishes found on many menus such as Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes and dishes I have never seen such as Saute'ed Skate Wing with Balsamic Vinegar Laced Beurre Blanc are easy to follow and the end result is nothing short of sublime. Thanks David for writing this book and for contributing all profits to such a wonderful organization -- Hats off!

Great recipes from a great chef!
I have enjoyed David's wonderful skills on many an occasion including a number of the recipes in this book. He has never failed to win over my tastebuds. The book makes his magic seem so easy. How could I miss with my own attempts at preparation?

Easy to prepare, fabulous, impressive foods!
I had the pleasure of tasting the foods prepared by Chef David Daniluk at the preview of his book which supported the Make A Wish Foundation. I thought it would be just another gourmet event with food that I would never in a million years prepare myself. Yes, the food was outstanding but I am so impressed at how amazingly easy the recipes are to read. The ingredients are fairly simple and the two recipes that I tried, so far, were easy and successful!

Got problems? Read this book, wake up, and start living!!!
If this book doesn't teach you how to see past your problems and realize "Hey, I'm alive, I should start living!", nothing will!

A truly inspiring story. Matt is truly different from the rest of us in one remarkable way; he dwells on life's highlights, and figures out how to make them brighter. It's an ability we all have, but it's amazing how infrequently most of us practice it.

Buy this book and remind yourself how to live life to it's fullest. Thank you Matt!

A truly inspirational and insightful book.
As an averaged-sized person who often feels overwhelmed by the day-to-day struggles of life, this book is an eye-opener and an inspiration to not only deal with the struggles but to embrace those struggles that make life challenging, exciting and worth living. His insight into parenting applies to all parents and his outlook on life is amazing. It was a wonderful book to read and very uplifting.

A Truly Inspirational Story
If you are a parent, I urge you to read this book! Not only were Matt's parents thrown into the world of raising a little person in an "average-sized" world, they excelled at teaching Matt that despite his disabilities, he could not only survive, but succeed in this world. They never gave Matt an opportunity to pitty himself.

We live in a world that tells us to blame someone for everything that happens in our life. Matt never did that -- today he is a successful businessman, a devoted husband and loving father.

This book taught me that God has a purpose and plan for everyone's life and we must use our talents to the best of our ability. Matt's life has turned out better than what he could have ever imagined.

What a wonderful story!

Smart Women Finish Rich
I recently got divorced and needed some financial advice. I bought David Bach's book "Smart Women Finish Rich" and was hooked right away. He gives sound advice in an easy to read format. I have made several changes for the better (i.e. saving for retirement, deciding to go back to college) since reading his book. I highly recommend this book!

AN AMAZING BOOK
I LOVED this book, It really helped me put my financial and future life in order. I am 33 and am a model and have been sort of investing in my future but wasn't sure if I was on the right track. I had tried to read many other books on financial success and ask financial advisors my questions but was always confused and thought the books were a snore. I picked up Davids book at a bookstore and literally could not put it down. It was so insightful, and easy to read, it has many real life instances that we as women can relate to and helps you understand in plain english how to make the most of your life. I know now what to do with my investments and how to make the most of my financial and personal life. I have bought this book for many friends and family, they all love it and are on their way to retiring rich!!!!
Whether you are married or single you as a woman should know everything about your finances and this is a great and easy way to get started on the right track!! It is hard to explain how many ways this book can help your life, its just the best book you could ever read for your present and future wellbeing!!!

Smart Women Finish Rich
This is one of the best books I have read. David takes you from the begining with basics through to financially educated. It was hard to put this book down. I believe every women who does not handle her finances should read this book. Get on the "wagon" and know what is really going on out there in the world. I already handle our family finances, but I have gained so much more knowledge and organization from this book. I have gotten all my friends at work to read this book. I recommend all of David Bachs products.

I loved this book!
I have a certain (though very limited!) degree of experiential overlap with the author of this book. Like him, I practice zen - although unlike him I have never pursued the practice as far as Japan. Like him, I have practiced zen at the San Francisco Zen Center on Bush St. But since I live in Dayton, Ohio, I don't practice zen there all that much! And finally, like him, I have been to Japan and been amazed, amused, and astounded by the place. However, unlike him, I was only there for a short time - 10 days. But it was long enough so that I kept laughing and saying "Yeah! I know what you mean!" as I was reading the book. This is just a damn good book - it's kind of like a Kerouac book without the tiresome, self-conscious "artistry." I don't think I could have talked to Kerouac in a million years - I'm not intense and hip enough by any stretch of the imagination. But this guy, I could really enjoy spending some time with him. And I think most people will feel the same after reading the book - really great!

Best of the foreigner-encounters-Japan books, hands down.
There are perhaps fifty books about Westerners living in Japan, and perhaps fifty more about the West's encounter with Zen. Chadwick's book is by far the most appealing of these. His refusal to type-cast the Japanese he meets, his beautiful and disarming candor, and his unpredictable reactions to new experiences make this a wonderful book even for a reader who's never been to Japan, or one who has no particular interest in Zen. Everybody I've recommended it to has loved it.

Very fun book to read
I really enjoyed hearing all of the author's stories about living in Japan as an Amercian. What was also great was that he didn't just write about life as an American in a Zen setting, but also about the day to day beauracacy that he faced in Japan.

No Landlord Should Be Without This Guide!
This book is fantastic for the experienced, as well as the inexperienced landlord. It sets out in plain English some of the common legal pitfalls landlords run into and how to avoid them. The books cites examples - some quite frightening - of how these pitfalls occur and the appropriate action to take. The book clearly outlines the differences in particular laws between the states. It explains all aspects of landlord law from finding goods tenants to dismissing bad tenants. The book makes a great desk reference and it's cheaper than a lawyer!

I couldn't recommend this book ENOUGH!!!
This book has helped through every step of buying my first investment property. It's like having your own professional standing over your shoulder, reminding you about every detail of every step. The section on insurance alone is completely priceless, pointing out that a landlord needs not just property loss coverage but also personal liability. And not just physical liability, but coverage of potential slander, libel, discrimination, unlawful eviction, invasion of privacy suits... And don't forget loss of rents! It's that kind of detail that maybe someone who's done this before would call 'basic.' But I admit: I am no pro, yet when I called an insurance agent and explained what I wanted coverage for, he said to me, "Um, you've done this before, haven't you?" Thank you, nolo!

Playing Off the Rail: A Pool Hustler's Journey

If you love shooting pool, you'll love this book.
A journey into a world with some real "originals." Well written, great characters, a real love of the game. I don't finish many books any more, but I read this one right through

A Great Read
Tony Annigoni - house pro and part owner of the Q-Club in San Francisco. David McCumber - pool devotee and writer with some money to spare. These two go on the road across North America hustling games and looking for action. Annigoni plays and generally wins. McCumber bankrolls his bets and sweats on the sidelines taking the notes that turned into this book. McCumber's writing is strong, sometimes a bit too Hunter Thompsonish, but he loves the game and has a visceral sense of humor about the odyssey that could cost him a bundle. Annigoni is a great player, but the opponents are world class and life on the road in cheap hotels, late trains, and all night pool halls is a tiring exercise. This is a good book. Those who play a little pool will enjoy the tense action and will be able to follow the games closely. Those who just enjoy a book about a little-known facet of America's underbelly will be swept along. Those who liked "The Color of Money" will appreciate the reality check.

Doesn't get any more realistic than this
I just read it again--for the third time and I still found myself laughing out loud at McCumbers dead on the money descriptions of high level pool hustling. The players he describes are authentic, anyone who has met Keith McCready or Bucktooth can vouch for that, and that is what makes this book so entertaining, that it is an authentic glimpse of big time pool gambling. If you would like to see this in real life, just go to Louisville Kentucky during the first few weeks of January every year and check out the Derby City Classic tournament.

It is the clearest Biochemistry book and it is a must
I found the 2e of "Principles of Biochemistry" by A. Lehninger, one of the most exciting books written in the field of Biochemistry. The book should be a treasure, especially, for undergradute students who have interest in the field. I have already adopted it as the main text book for the Biochemistry, a 300 level, course that I teach. Concepts are clearly and cleverly presented.

a book to use, and a book to keep
Lehninger's book remains the best single text in biochemistry, at least in English. A fine book for undergraduates, it is also the one volume that you may keep on your shelf for years to come, and the best biochem text for those whose primary specialty is not biochemistry (e.g. medicine, p-chem, microbio). No text is ever a substitute for the journals if you work in the field, but this book gives a sense of the whole discipline that is beneficial for anyone who may become too narrowly fixed on one topic. Its clear writing is also a blessing, both for those using English as a second language, and for native speakers with some affection for their own language

A Sweet Easy Christmas Read
The Christmas Tree was a really sweet and easy christmas read. It was a nice story about "tree" and how it eventually made it's way to Rockefeller Center. It's a really short book and I read it in one evening. Don't pass this one up... it'll get you in the spirit of finding your christmas tree.

A Charming, Well-written and Illustrated Fictional Story
I really enjoyed this book which I found on our local library shelf, and intend to buy a copy for myself. It would make an excellent gift.

It is a gem. Charming, well-told story. Beautiful, pastel-colored illustrations that greatly add to the charm.

I once worked in the old Time-Life Building in Rockefeller Center, New York City, and looked down on the Christmas Tree eight years running, but I would have enjoyed this book if I had never seen the The Tree from on high and at ground level.

A treasured experience to be enjoyed many times.
This is the third Christmas season that I have snuggled with my daughter and experienced this lovely story. Both of us have come to love this tale of "Tree", Sister Anthony and of the little girl named Anna. It is told by the chief gardner from Rockefeller Center, who meets Sister Anthony during one of his annual quests for the perfect Christmas tree for the famous New York landmark. It is with each of Sister Anthony's storytellings that we witness the beautiful tapestry that unfolds, showing us the pure love between a child and a tiny tree and of their journey through life. This is truly a beautiful and heartfelt story that will evoke tears of sadness and joy. I look forward to sharing this treasure with my daughter for many years to come and I know she will always remember it...as will I. THANK YOU JULIE SALAMON!
