my 1 year old loves this book!
My 1 year old has loved this book for several months. The pictures of kids in action are big and bright. She's also learning how to do each action herself. I'm planning on buying a few more books from this wonderful "my turn" series.

Another brilliant, well-written book by Illich!
In this book, much like Deschooling Society, Illich attacks the issue from all sides. He consistenly provides an excellent argument with examples, statistics, and well-done research. Though this book is not quite as fast-paced as Deschooling Society, it is equally engaging. Illich not only presents the problems in a realistic way, he also presents alternative methods for dealing with the issues he's attacking. This book is well worth the time it takes to read, and although it was written several years ago, the issues addressed in this book are even more prevalent now. Illich is a wonderful writer and this is an incredible book.

Informative, insightful, occasionally iconoclastic
Gil Eyal, Ivan Szelenyi, Eleanor Townsley effectively collaborate in Making Capitalism Without Capitalists: The New Ruling Elites In Eastern Europe to offer a new and compelling theory regarding the transition to capitalism from previously communist/socialist economic systems. Of special note is the two-fold origin of those taking responsibility for the construction of capitalism: former Communist technocrats, and former dissident intellectuals. Making Capitalism Without Capitalists is informative, insightful, occasionally iconoclastic reading highly recommended for students of economics and contemporary Eastern European international studies.

A unique self-help, self-improvement guide
In Making Dreams Come True Without Money, Might Or Miracles, philosopher, provocateur, and volunteer activist Ivan Scheir draws upon his more than thirty years of experience and expertise to explain what both dreamers and "dream-catchers" must do to bring dreams to life; why dreams die and how to keep them strong; the importance of a dream-friendly environment and how to create one; "rules" for dreamers and dream-catchers; how to look beyond money as a need, obstacle or trap; and the simple (yet profound) ways anyone can catch someone else's dreams and support them to reality. Making Dreams Come True Without Money, Might Or Miracles is a unique self-help, self-improvement guide that is enthusiastically recommended reading for anyone trying to bring to fruition their own dreams, hopes, aspirations, and desires.

A Must for All Latin Americans
Being a Student/admirer of Carmelo Mesa-Lago, I have seen his share of great works on Cuba and Latin America. None however compare to this one. This book has information that only Mesa-Lago, the formost Cuban economist outside of the island, could present and analyze. He breaks down the economies of Cuba, Chile, and Costa Rica and explains the path to development that each country has taken. IF you are a student of economics, international relations, political science... or just intrested in Latin American issues, this book is a must!!!

Superb
Quite simply, one of the best books I've ever read. Mr. Allen provides an easy to read (and sometimes humorous) account of his tenure as mayor of Atlanta through the turbulent 1960's.

Magical and Meaningful
This is an exceptional children's book. The story of Peter is beautifully woven through illustrations that are nothing short of magical. There's are messages about kindness, greed, and living simply, but they never jeopardize the enchantment.

Fantastic book
Ivan Tors was one of the greatest filmmakers, zoologists, scientists and men who ever lived. This man almost single-handedly changed the way animals were and are treated in the entertainment industry. His accomplishments should make him better known than Disney, Spielberg and Lucas - combined. He was the Producer responsible for FLIPPER, SEA HUNT, GENTLE BEN, DAKTARI, SCIENCE FICTION THEATER, and dozens of other fine films and TV programs .... but his #1 passion in life was living in Africa and studying and loving animals. This book can change your life. It changed mine.
