bark, bark, bark
a couple of books ago two new characters were introduced: Nozomu Nikaido and Ibuki Yagami. Well, imn this book we are introduced to another character: Asuna Kujo. Asuna Kujo is a pretty, rich, and shy girl who has been arranged a maariage with none other than Shun Mitaka. The problem is that she loves dogs, she owns six of them, and Mitaka hates dogs. Funny stuff. However, this book, although very funnt, is quite sad also. Godai and Kyoko have another falling out, and Kyoko feels like she has lost Godai's affection. This of course is due to yet another misunderstanding. This book really pulls on the heart strings. Another thing, Ikuko makes a cameo in this book, and what acutie she has become. Also this book is 280 pages not what amazon says

Best Manga storytelling ever??
I heard from the grapvine that Maison Ikkoku was one of the greatest love stories ever written! I wasn't really into that kind of manga until I bought MI Dogged Pursuit paperback just for the heck of it. The whole story revolves around a college boy (Godai) trying to find a real job, and at the same time win the affections of his beautiful manager Kyoko. The most fascinating part of MI though is the minor characters that come betweem Godai and Kyoko, which results to probably the funniest and heartwarming story I have ever read! Manga or any other literature! Takahashi scores huge on this series!!

I laughed, I cried, I read it a million times
The latest issue of the Wackiest love story ever, Reveals Godais situation, after the company that was supposed to set him up for life, set him up for a fall as the company goes bankrupt and he has to work part time just to make ends meet. The story really kicks into gear when Shuns uncle comes to him (Sparkling smile and aggressive dispositon) to offer him a chance to finallys settle down and get married. Naturally, since Shun is in love with Kyoko, and the purposed fiance is a lover of dogs, he balks. Later he finds a way to use the forced engagement to use to his advantage and pressure Kyoko into finally seriously considering marrying him. Soon everyone is chasing everyone else, Kyoko is chasing Shun and Godai, The Dog girl is chasing Shun and Kyoko, Godai is, as always chasing Kyoko, and Yagami and Kouzue are still chasing Godai. Romantic misunderstandings and mishaps are the flavor of the day in this issue. Yet somewhere in all that wackiness, a beautiful, complex, and realistic love story is being told. This issue has some of the series most dramatically tense moments. By the end of the Story, No one is the same. Kyoko and Godai Grow ever closer, and you'll find that this is one of those stories, that despite the unusual format, you'll read and enjoy a million times.

Home Sweet Home--Truer words have (never) been spoken!
Ah...life at Maison Ikkoku is never easy. Misunderstandings occur with alarming frequency, the neighbors go out of their way to make trouble for each other, and the gossip is worse than the tabloids. Kyoko gets huffy when she sees Yusaku and Mitaka each clinging to another woman (for perfectly innnocent and understandable reasons), but like Akane and Lum and Shinobu, she refuses to listen to those reasons. Then when Yusaku tries to break it off with Kozue, he can't find the nerve, which is sure to cause problems in the future (in this series, every little mishap causes problems). Kyoko takes a trip down memory lane while her mother tries once again to get her daughter to leave MAison Ikkoku, and Yusaku moves out. But he gets more than he bargained for when he moves into his new apartment, and before long, Maison Ikkoku seems like heaven...

Godai moves out.
Yet another wonderful volume of Maison Ikkoku. In this volume Mr. Soichiro comes up missing, and the entire Maison Ikkoku gang go out to look for him. This is a very sweet story because we get to see a flashback and find out why the dog has the same name as Kyoko's deceased husband. There is one picture of a weeping Kyoko that will break your heart. The main attraction of this book is when Godai moves out because of a misunderstanding. Godai moves into another apartment with an attractive woman who works at a massage parlor and her husband who looks like a member of the Yakuza. Good stuff. Maison Ikkoku In my humble opinion the best manga series there is. kono manga o yonde kudasai.

Ah! Home Sweet Home!
The zany romance of irresponsible college student Yusaku Godai and manager widow Kyoko Otonashi continues in this fabulous book three! Everything seems to be in the way of Yusaku getting close to his appartment manager, Kyoko Otonashi. Especially his fellow tenants (who are drunkards and kooks who love to ruin everything in Yusaku's life), and Kyoko's tennis coach Shun Mitaka(the handsome, ladies' man with the sparkling smile and nice car), who has plans to win Kyoko for himself! Now Yusaku hears from his fellow tenants that Kyoko is engaged to Mitaka! He gives up his persuit of her and moves out of Maison Ikkoku. How will he ever win Kyoko's love now? Very interesting, frustratingly funny and the best humourous manga I've ever read. Maison Ikkou is action-packed for your funny bone!

The Best
It's my favorite all time. Simple advice for you guys, buy it ! Uhh..I have one question, when volume 14 will come out?

Ranma Is The Best Japanimation cartoon.
I have Ranma1/2 books 3,5 and 6. It's a great book. I want to get more of it. I have videos, pictures and other stuff of anime but when I saw the video I was hooked so go rent videos and books to find out how good it is.

Ranma 1/2 is the greatest!
Of all the mangas I've read and all the animes I've seen, Ranma 1/2 is absolutely one of the greatest! It's funny, action packed and there's even romance on the side. It is also very addicting. Once you start reading it, you gotta have it all. A must have for any manga/anime fan!

Grandma Go Away!!
Another delightful book in the Maison Ikkoku series. I seem to be repeating myself quite often with these words, but anyway good book. The book begins off with the usual struggle: Kyoko vs her parents this time the topic of argument is grandchildren, and leave it to Mrs. Chigusa to drive bamboo shoots underneath Kyoko's fingernails. Mrs. Chigusa even invites Mitaka out for coffee, and of course Mrs. Ichinose and Yusaku are with them. The main highlight of this book, however, is the arrival of Godai's Grandmother Yukari. She meddles in Yusaku's life trying to find out his loves, so she seems to pick up very quickly that Godai has feelings for the beautiful Kyoko. She even gets Mitaka to take the gang to his apartment so Godai can check out his competition, and let's say that Godai falls quite far behind Mitaka in the material world, but Godai is our hero he will persevere. hehe

A Wonderful International Masterpiece of Romantic Comedy
"Empty Nest", Volume 5 of the stellar international romantic comedy, "Maison Ikkoku", continues the great comedy and touching romance seen in the previous volumes. Although a uniquely Japanese story, the appeal of this timeless classic is universal.

Maison Ikkoku is a run down apartment building in Tokyo. Living there is struggling and wishy-washy college student Yusaku Godai, who has fallen head over heels in love with the beautiful, young manager of the building, Kyoko Otonashi. Kyoko has some feelings towards Godai, but she's a widow, and still is not over the death of her beloved husband, Soichiro.

Complicating matters between the two are rich, suave, hysterically dog-phobic, and handsome tennis coach Shun Mitaka, Godai's rival for Kyoko; and Kozue Nanao, a sweet, cute, and naive girl, who accidently has become Godai's platonic girlfriend. Kozue is clueless that Godai is in love with Kyoko.

But the crowning touch is the 3 other residents of the apartment building: hard drinking, hard partying and hard gossiping Mrs. Ichinose, who lives with her young son Kentaro; Akemi, a sexy party animal who is the bar hostess at local hangout ChaChaMaru, and who wears her see-through negligee around the building; and then there's the mysterious Yotsuya, who gets his kicks out of peeping, and breaking through Godai's wall so that he can mooch food from Godai. These characters would be at home in "A Confederacy of Dunces".

All 3 regard Godai as their personal toy, and they get their kicks from teasing him and holding their drinking parties in his room. They've also discovered that Kyoko is fun to tease as well.

The 9 chapters contained in "Empty Nest", Volume 5 of the 14 volume saga which is "Maison Ikkoku", are heavy on comedy, although a hint of romance always lurks around the corner. The 3rd anniversary of the death of Kyoko's husband, Soichiro, is upon us, and Kyoko's parents have become more aware of the absence of grandchildren in their lives. This discussion brings Kyoko to consider the possibility of raising a family with either Coach Mitaka or Godai. Baseball is the national sport of Japan, and the manager of the gang's bar ChaChaMaru, has recruited everyone to play in a game against the local merchants, for a wager, of course. Kyoko's going to a class reunion, while Godai's playing host at a freshman mixer. Godai ends up with a cute, intoxicated freshman gal, who's supposed to be verrrrrry lonely. What a coincidence that Godai is in the Shinjuku District, the same area as Kyoko's reunion.

The remainder of Volume 5 covers a story arc that continues into Volume 6; Godai's grandmother comes to visit. Granny Yukari drags Godai and Kyoko to her class reunion. Granny finagles Godai into taking her with him on a date with Kozue, and we see that Godai has been indecisive since he was a child. Granny learns that Godai has a rival, and Coach Mitaka mistakenly invites Granny, Godai and Kyoko to his luxury apartment, where Granny has a lesson for Godai to learn. Granny gets a shipment from home of her homemade plum wine, which helps to show that alcohol and dogs don't mix. Granny invites the gang to a hotel pool to swiim, and Kyoko misunderstands the hickey Godai is sporting. It is embarrasing, since Godai got it from his drunken college buddy Sakamoto, who's decided to take a "don't ask, don't tell" policy about the hickey, which only infuriates Kyoko. Godai takes off for Hokkaido, to escape Kyoko's wrath, and winds up making friends with a chatterbox of a gal who helps Godai sort things out.

A few notes of interest: when Granny Godai arrives, it's clear that she & Kyoko had met before. The reason for this is that an early volume that contained Granny's 1st visit to Ikkoku was not translated/published in America, for unknown reasons. At the mixer, Sakamoto says that he & Godai had been buddies since they failed their college entrance exams. The English translation of the series had Godai introduced as a college student; the original Japanese had Godai as a "Ronin", a person who failed his/her difficult entrance exams and who is cramming to retake the exam.

This wonderful Volume keeps this great story rolling along with it's drop-dead funny humor, and yet the romantic angle keeps things touching. "Maison Ikkoku" is better than "Oh! My Goddess!" and is superior to most books which make Oprah's Book Club. Buy it, you'll love it!

Funny hijinks with Grandma and Kyoko is JEALOUS?
This Maison Ikkoku novel is rather short but it is still has some great scences that are sure to make you laugh! Kyoko's parents want grandchildren.... Cha Cha Maru is having a baseball game where everyone is involved... Yusaku is going to get very close to a new freshmen! ....Grandma's friend's mistake Kyoko for Yusaku's wife?... Grandma meets Kozue and Shun...Mr. Soichiro drunk?.... Sakamoto gives Yusaku a hicky and Yusaku kisses up another girl? Well all of these things add up to lots of laughs and good times as always for Maison Ikkoku if you have an annoying grandma, your problems can't even compare to Yusaku's. You have to love Grandma's hijinks that make you wonder weather she is for or against Yusaku and a kiss from another girl just might make Yusaku put his feelings for Kyoko in perspective. I guarantee once you read Maison Ikkoku you'll never want to stop!

It's O.K...
This is good manga because it's Rumiko Takahashi. But I think that this is one the mose boring and repetive of the "Ranma 1/2" Series. All I'm saying is that it could be better

Ranma is the best!
Ranma is my favorite manga series of all time, even though I have only read a couple of the 21 books. This is one of my personal favorites. The principal of Furinkan High comes back, and he's not what he seems. He implements a new haircut rule that has the students scrambling to find a very special coconut, and his tardy plan is designed to make you late, not keep you from being late! Akane gets a powerup, and Xian Pu tries once again to try and get Ranma for her own. A great book, and well worth your time.

BUY THE BOOK!!
RANMA 1/2 IS THE BEST JAPANESE ANIME EVER!! I HAVE VOLUMES 1-9 AND I LAUGH AT EVERY JOKE EVERY TIME I READ THEM!! THIS IS A MUST BUY FOR ANY FAN OF ANIME!

You thought you had family problems...
Not only do Yusaku and Kyoko have to deal with the other tenants and Coach Mitaka, they have to deal with Kyoko's parents! Her dad is a tad bit overprotective, and when we first meet him he is slinking around the building in a trenchcoat, looking very suspicious. And her mother is a conniving witch who actually makes her daughter move out of Maison Ikkoku!

Kyoko knows she should love her parents like a good daughter should, but it is so hard with parents like these!

The Love of Parents
Another stellar volume of Maison Ikkoku. In this volume the primary focus is Kyoko's parents. It is obviously not unusual for parents to want the best for their children, but Kyoko's parents take it a bit too far. So in this volume the Ikkoku gang are faced with Kyoko's overprotective father and domineering mother. The mother even tries to enlist the help of Mrs. Ichinose in order to make Kyoko go back home and go back to her maiden name. It is all good fun, and also we get to see a doubles tennis match: Kyoko and Godai vs Mitaka and Mrs. Ichinose! Of course we also cannot forget about Kozue Nanao; she seems to want Godai and her relationship to go to the next level. kono manga o yonde kudasai!! (please read this manga!!

The touching story continues!

'Tis the season to be jolly at Maison Ikkoku! It's Christmastime, and Godai wants to get Kyoko a present. So he splurges on a pair of earrings and gives them too...Kozue? Now he's broke and has nothing to give to Kyoko! Then it's New Year's Eve and Godai is all alone with Kyoko...can he stand the temptation? Then, at the end of the holiday madness, Godai goes home for a few days, but a chain of unfortunate accidents prevent him from coming home as soon as he planned.

Next, Kozue takes Godai home for dinner. It's then that Godai discovers just how ambitious she is in their relationship. Meanwhile, Kyoko's parents are worrying that managing Maison Ikkoku reminds her too much of her dead husband. But when they can't get her to leave the boarding house, they start using sneaky, manipulative methods. Kyoko and the rest of the residents must learn how to stand up to her shrewd parents. Maison Ikkoku continues its sweet and (mostly) innocent humor in the second book. Once again, Rumiko Takahashi exhibits her mastery of the art of manga!

Amazing (not so) Little Book!
This book is soooooooo cool! I don't exactly own it (i'm borrowiong it from my best friend), I think I can give a pretty basic idea of whats happenig(based off the TV shows). Well, after Inuyasha pushes Kagome through the well that seperates her world from Inuyasha's, she goes back(of course, cuz they can't continue the series without Kagome)! Then they find naraku and they find out all about him and how he came to be and all that. Then they find out that Kikyo is still alive(god forbid) and Inuyasha goes and kisses her in front of Kagome and Kagome gets mad and Inuyasha gets mad and they all get mad and then Inuyasha says he really did have feeling for her, but she's asleep! ASLEEP!!!!!! There are nice sound FX, though, to make up for the [disappointing] ending (so it's only [disappointing] in my eyes...)!

THE BIGGEST INU-YASHA FAN EVER!
To me Inu-yasha is the best cartoon and comic book series. In this book Kikyo comes back to take care of some unfinished business to do... wonder what happens... sorry don't want to spoil it for others, just read it you'll love it.And for the people who love this book watch the cartoon series on DVD ...

::Smiles::
Wow! Thus was a great book. It was easy to read and has a great plot. The drawings are exquisitetly done. The emotion in the story realates well to real life.

Kodachi comes back!
I won't lie--Kodachi, Ranma-chan, and Shampoo are my favorite characters. Now, while Shampoo doesn't show up in this volume, the other two do. Seeing Ranma try to be both Romeo and Juliet is hilarious! And Akane and Ranma-kun (as well as Ranma-chan and Kuno) finally kiss, but there is a misconception...Finally, everyone's favorite martial arts rhythmic gymnast comes back, and she has a whole bunch of surprises just waiting for Ranma!

Don't miss this book! The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is cause I don't care for the Romeo and Juliet half of the book, but it might be your thing!

Gosunkugi's Back! Romeo and Juliet in Ranma!
Yay!^^ A Romeo and Juliet play happens in Ranma! *thinks those seem to happen in every series*....But it is REALLY GOOD! Also, Gosunkugi is back in it, and so is Kodachi! Yup, this is another great Ranma 1/2 Volume! Ranma 1/2 Volume 7 rocks, and I highly reccomend it!

A really good comic book!
This was a great book and I really enjoyed reading it. It had a lot of action and comedy. I loved it a lot. You should buy it.

Great BOOK
My child just loves the book. The clock hands aren't hard to move at all. It's a first pick every night. We just love it.

What a charmer!
This lovely picture book is a successful hour by hour mix of the everyday and the mystery of a quiet house at night while the family sleeps. At each reading I watch my toddler grandchildren sway and respond to the rhythm of the rhyming text. "Read it again" they say. What an endorsement!

DING DONG CLOCK -- Delightful, gentle, and joyful!
Each enchanting hour is heralded by the comforting toll of a stately hall clock that guards the household. Children will delight in the gently-told and pictured events that go on each hour in a nighttime household. Daytime hours show family and neighborhoods safe and secure -- an oasis for children in these difficult times. Beautiful poetic images skillfully woven into rhythmic and truly lyrical poetry. A joy to read -- and a joy to watch as toddlers sway to the beat of this lovely story. I personally love this -- even better than GOOD NIGHT MOON.
