Rumic World: Fire Tripper

Not one of Takahashi's most popular, but well loved.
No one noticed the gas leak-certainly not Suzuko, who's distracted by her six-year-old neighbor. By the time she notices the tell-tale scent, it's far too late. She can only watch in horror, as the gigantic storage tanks explode above her. When she awakens, Suzuko finds herself in a devasted land, but it's not modern Tokyo. Somehow, the explosion has blown her 500 years into the past, and landed her right on top of a medieval battlefeild! Life goes from bad to worse as she contends with brutal bandits, helpless peasants, and amorous rescuers. Torn between conflicting loyalties, Suzuko struggles to untangle the timelines, as she slowly comes to understand the strange force that has exiled her, and how it relates to her own mysterious past. And then, with her new home also in flames, time begins to loop back on itself! Suzuko and Shukumaru, the warrior who saves her, cope with mystery, tragedy, and disaster as time unravels amidst the roaring flames. Combining the excitement of time travel with adventure and romance in a tightly woven story which ranks among the best Japan has to offer, Fire Tripper is one of rumiko Takahashi's best loved stories.

Lots of info, perhaps too much.
I felt a little bogged down by all the information contained inthis book. It seemed too detailed and included a lot of stuff thatdidn't really apply to just medical insurance (for example thecomplete hypocratic oath which doctors take)! Overall, it was a pretty good book. It would have been a great book if they had cut out about a third or even half of the information. I thought Guide to Medical Billing, by a company called ICDC was much better. A lot of the pertinent data without too much extra. I also liked a book called The Medical Billing Handbook by Jason Cummings.

7th Edition pulls itself into the 21st Century
Having had to wait many weeks for the new, revised 7th Edition I was very pleased to note the improvements made from the 6th Edition. The color examples, universal legend symbols and easy paragraph read for the student are excellent. Another long awaited addition is the expanded Medi-Cal section (applicable to California only). Having been in the industry for 25 year I can say that this is the best Billing book on the market that I have been able to find. The only down side to this book is that it is not written for the "new" biller, but more for an intermediate to experienced biller. As long as the instructor can "dumb down" some of the excellent explanations, students will learn a tremendous amount from this book. I use it in my classroom along with my own material and the students are leaving the class with a well rounded knowledge base. Over all, I am pleased with the new Edition and it's contents.

An excellent overview of the medical billing task.
This is an appropriate text for the medical biller. Although written for the office-based biller, home-based billers will find most (but not all) the information of practical benefit. Used in our homestudy course as a standard text.

Review of Medical Transcription Guide: Do's and Don'ts
I made a$36.00 mistake. This book in no way compares to The AAMT Book of Style. Some of the advice is way off course (for those who want to be certified or who work for physicians who want us to use the AAMT style) and information is too hard to locate. I personally do not like the spiral binding. It is too ackward to handle.

Easy to use and good examples given
I am a new MT and have found this book very helpful. The table of contents (listed alphabetically - nice) is on the back cover that folds over, which I have found easy to use. I LOVE that it is spiral bound, as it only takes up half as much space on my desk. It also includes appendices for items such as problem words, genus and species names, commonly used abbreviations, etc.

Read several pages prn as needed for education.
I purchased this book before I started my transcription service and it was immensely helpful. I refer to it often and will make it required reading for my staff as they come on board. It is a wonderful reference book even for those of us who are experienced but have the occasional "mental meltdown". I would recommend it to everyone interested in the field. just plain bad
mediocre art + awkward storytelling + ridiculous plot +wincingly bad translation + uninspired layouts + lamecharacterizations + silly lettering styles = one bad manga. On the plus side, the art style does show promise, and the concept is one that will probably appeal to your average adolescent male. I just wouldn't buy this volume without skimming through it first. Don't say I didn't warn you...

Starts off bad, ends with a fantastic plot
At first this book doe's not seem at all that good, but the second story really picks up the pace. It's really a good manga, wicth leaves wanting to know whats gonna happen next.

ICE Blade: Manga or Better?
Ice Blade is one of the better collections of manga from anime series. You simply have to love the series! So much action and wonderful drawings expressing the feelings of the author; Tutomu Takahashi. A modern James Bond style manga, featuring a homicide cop known as Ky. Murder.. mystery.. characters beyond suspicious. A thriller in modern day style.. and still manga.

Snow Job
This book consists of page after page of descriptive phrases with no full sentences or actions. After I read this book to my 3 and 5 year old sons, I really wondered how it got published. It's pretty boring and employs words that are much too lofty for the preschool set. The pictures, however, are lovely.

The Magic of a Snow Day
From the opening of the book /A cozy, curled lump in the quilt./ to the end /The quilt closes and quiets. Child nestles with Mama. Snow day melts to dreams./, I've tried to capture the pure joy and magic of a snow day--the magic I remember growing up in Maine with snow days. The family in this book shares breakfast /Steamy oatmeal in a brown sugar 'n' cream bath./, the power going out /Wooooo-ooooo! Wild, whirling wind crashes limbs to lines./, getting dressed to go outside /Nubby mittens. Pom-pommed, pulled-down cap./, sledding / Kwoosh! Thud! Trudge!/, and a warm bath /Soapy soak. Boat-filled bath. Towel wrap. Flannels with footies./ until they fall asleep with sweet-dreams of their snow day.

To me, a snow day is a special gift from Mother Nature--a chance to stay home as a family and share books, games, and laughter. The snow slows the busy-ness of the world, and the simple pleasures of hot chocolate, playing pretend, wearing long johns, and home-made stew can be savored. Illustrator Hideko Takahashi did a wonderful job of capturing the details and wonder of a snow day--even though she grew up in an area of Japan with NO snow! Hideko's images have fun, unexpected details like a house appearing to blow in the storm, a braided rug you can almost feel, and a card castle so detailed you want to blow it down.

I hope this book will encourage children and classes to create their own special "day" books--picnic day, camping trip, city visit, etc. Simply start with a web and create scenes for that special day and then write a little "poem" describing each part of that day. It's fun--try it!

I wish everyone the magic of snow days--all year long!

Where'd my special K go?
One of the things I hate and find irritating about this book is its complete lack of utilizing the color black. In fact, of all the hundreds of color combinations contained in this little book, the color black (K) is completely missing. And that, contrary to what some people might think, is an extremely important color in CMYK printing. It also lists all color combos in YMC order, which I've never seen before in any color book. It gets very confusing when trying to input the values into any program, as they are all set up to take CMYK in that order. But you don't have to worry about getting the K value--the authors just left it out. Quite unforgivable. I also found the color combos shown here to be extremely UN-complementary. I've had more than one client tell me, after showing them a couple of designs using these color combos, that the schema looked "awful" or just plain "ugly." I did too, but since my confidence in color coordination is not that high, I needed second opinions. Which I got. So I put it on the back shelf and let it gain 10%K dust in the 100%K recesses where I hope to never find or use it again. There are just too many books out there that are simply better.

A good guide of color combinations
Very good, if not thorough, color reference, with very good color combinations (color charts are included as well). Perhaps a bigger variety of "moods" or "styles" (as the combinations are classified) could have made this book more of a definitive reference.

The prose that accompanies each chapter and tries to bring some rationality to the choices of colors and explain the creation of new combinations is somewhat shallow, and I found it quite confusing for the use of terms left unexplained, and a somewhat clunky translation from the Japanese.

Colors matched
This is a very useful designers reference book. I wish that they've listed the colors in the order of C-M-Y-K instead of Y-M-C-K, it gets confusing when I want to plug in the numbers to my color palette. Timeless color combinations. Very useful even in the year 2000, even though it has been almost ten years since it got published. Pantone combinations would be helpful for next publications (if they haven't done it yet) Thanks for your guidance when I get stuck with no creative color ideas.
