Builders of the Nation
Published in Paperback by Winston-Derek Pub (1993)
Author: Helen S. Konz
Amazon base price: $9.95
Used price: $8.75
Average review score:

A well-researched and entertaining story.
Helen Konz has done a magnificent job of researching material for her novel. She then tapped her imaginative mind and wove a story of tragedy and triumph from that historical cloth. As well as learning some history I did not know I thoroughly enjoyed her fictional characters and their development. This book, and the other two in this series, would be a wonderful addition to any school library. The history of our nation's founding, told in such an entertaining and interesting way, is a story many would enjoy.

Reading this book is like taking a step back in time.
Helen Konz has the gift of telling a story and making you feel like you're there. The characters are very believeable.

Researching this book led to an appreciation of my heritage
I had so much fun adding my imagination to historical events that I've written and self-published two sequels. Young adult and adult readers tell me that the books have rekindled their interest in our nations's history. That makes me feel that I've written something worthwhile.

Best Graniteware Book You'll Find
A teriffic book. Clear and well organized. My only warning to you is, don't expect to get the prices the book suggests. I find that 1/3 to 2/3 of suggested prices are more realistic for all but the rarest pieces.

Granite ware book 2
This is a must for the Granite ware buyers prices are great and great learning instruction of what to look for and how to tell if it is old or new I love this book and look at it often as I am looking on ebay alot. A must for the Granite people

Great for Beginners
I found this book very helpful as a new collector of Granite Ware. I especially appreciate the items being grouped by color for easy identification with the price values on the same page. Now I am searching to find some backgound information on the makers and enameling techniques.

Come to the Garden
Come to the Garden was given to me by a friend at a time in my life when I was physically and emotionally worn out. It's words both gave me hope and helped me to heal. For weeks I read it daily. I have since given it away as a gift countless times.

Beautiful, comforting, wise and inspirational. A GREAT gift.
Come to the Garden annd its sister book The Path Less Taken are very special and wonderful books. I have given them as gifts to many, many friends and family members and the responses I have received are heartwarming. "How did you know I needed this inspiring book?" "I read it often and keep it by my bedside." "Where can I buy this wonderful book to give to my friends and family?" I still read Come to the Garden and The Path Less Taken often and always find comfort in their words of wisdom. The combination of exquisite poetry and beautiful art make these books great favorites of mine.

A wonderland of peace and serenety
JoAnna O'Keefe's deep compassion will carry you away from the cares of the day to a place where your spirit can mend and your mind is set free. A "must read" for those who seem to have no private time or a place to go. This is a healing book that you will read again and again.

A Wonderful Book!
Enlightened By Design is great. I have another on Feng Shui but it's too esoteric -- this one is much more accessible. I like the way she incorporates many different traditions. Just very happy to have it.

feng shui finally explained
A must-read for anyone interested in how powerfully design influences our lives. I hope the author will follow up with another book illustrated by many examples and plenty of before-and-after photos.

"... a book feng shui has been waiting for."
"The easy and exhilarating emphasis of the text explains how to realign your home with the basic forces of nature: heaven and earth, the four directions, and elemental energies.... It's a book feng shui has been waiting for." Dennis Fairchild. Feng Shui for Modern Living magazine, UK

Bringing thinking outside the box to a profitable realm.
As a veteran of broadcasting and now seven years of Internet
marketing I thought I had some creative juices flowing.
The Flexible Thinker gave me the tools to be on top of my game
in todays constantly changing world of marketing.
I was amazed at the way this simple but newly constructed
way of thinking has helped me in my business career as well.
I highly recommend this book to anyone trying to get over their
creative hump or jump start their business.

Insightful
This book provides an pracical advice that can be used in everyday situations. I thoroughly enjoyed the stories and examples in the book and anticipate this book will rival some of the classic "self help" books.

Practical & innovative
I found the book full of great ideas that are very practical. Easy & fun to read -- it may even change your life!

Great Book
I must have read this book when it first came out in 1984, and it was one of my favorites. Now, reading it again later (for a Children's Lit class), I can see why. It's a bit sad, but a wonderful book.

Foxy
I liked this book a lot. It was sad when Jeff and the dog named Foxy almost got killed in a car accident. It was happy too. Like when he found it. It was also iteresting that the kid Jeff could sneak out of the hospital. This time I actually liked reading it because it was like a adventure.

Great Great Great Great Great!
It is a very good book and has a great ending. My favorite part is when Jeff finds Foxy, after being lost, and fixes her up and makes her happy.

Genealogy and biographical sketches of descendants of Abraham Tegarden from arrival in America, including European background

Teegarden Review
A great book containing pictures, history, and stories on Teegarden ancestery. I bought the book for my girl friend and now am buying two more copies for other members in her family. One of the best buys for the money that I've seen. Does have a couple of errors, but is a great source.

The Decendants of Abraham Teagarden
I found this book very well written and informative. Errors are minor, but this is a good collection of facts about the Teagarden Family. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in Teagarden Geneology. I was able to use it to make a "Family Tree--Geneology" model.

Abraham Tegarden
This book is truly a family treasure. My family first purchased the book back in the 1960's. Miss Vogt spent time with our family and was quite an interesting person. My grandmother sent correspondence to her for the first publication. It does do your heart good to pick up the book and read as well as see the pictures of our family. Somehow it brings the ones back to life that have passed. This book is a treasure!

The Greyston Bakery Cookbook
Published in Hardcover by Random House (1988)
Authors: Helen Glassman and Susan Postal
Amazon base price: $3.99
Used price: $192.07
Average review score:

A superb book on bakery treats
This has to be one of my favorite cookbooks when it comes to treats that you would normally get from a bakery. This book is filled with those delightful cakes, pastries, and cookies of yesteryear, you know, when bakeries actually cooked everything from scratch. Your not going to find things you would find in your local grocery store in here, you will find treats that you would normally find only in the finest bakeries.
The book is divided into several sections: Muffins, Danishes, crusty breads, pastries, cookies, pies and tarts, cakes, and chiffon layer cakes. Most recipes come with either a hand drawing or there are a few color pictures included. Each recipe is carefully written and includes information about the type of pastry this is, or something special you need to know about the preparation. The Queen of Sheba Torte is my favorite in this book a rich chocolate cake with a ganache topping. You will find that this book will help you create finery that typically only comes out of the better bakeries.

We loved the Greyston Bakery, and we love the book
We used to live near the Greyston Bakery when it was in Riverdale, and it was wonderful. We felt lucky when we found the cookbook. All the recipes we have tried have been delicious. We just finished making the sesame tahini cookies as a gift for friends we are visiting, and they actually asked us if we could make another batch before we left!

Never fails!
I hope they reprint this book. My copy is getting old from being used so much! I have tried almost every recipe from this book--always wonderful. The results are always perfect. I can't think of another book I own with such a great success rate.

From This Day Forward: Memoirs of an Attache Wife

Estupendo!
From This Day Forward should be required reading for anyone contemplating a career in foreign service, and read twice by anyone contemplating marriage to someone so inclined. Helen Rodman's memoirs capture the diplomatic life perfectly -- the adventure of new places delivered by frequent packing and the necessary letting go of things dear. Beneath it all is a love story -- a tale of enduring passion and shared dreams, of monumental loss, and the triumph of lives well lived. Bravo, Mrs. Rodman!

Read it and love it!
In the great tradition of life stories, Ms. Rodman mixes the minute with the grand scheme of things, and paints for us a large detailed canvas of color and pathos. It is a great way of learning about far off places, through the eyes of one who lived it, rather than race by in a glass dome capturing only the superficial. Helen has made friends far and wide, and must be well loved by all. Methinks that whosoever knows her has a better chance of linking up with all inhabitants of the planet in less than the proverbial six degrees of separation... for she has known people in the most remote areas of the world, as well as presidents, prime ministers and even dictators!

A most enjoyable experience
I have finished reading From This Day Forward, (Memoirs Of An Attache Wife), and want to say that I loved it. What an interesting, rich, varied life Helen Rodman and her family have led, and with what gusto and equanimity she tells the story! I dropped everything in order to get on with reading this book and brooked no interruption till I got to the end.
