A Horse in Harry's Room
Published in Hardcover by HarperCollins Publishers (1970)
Authors: Rudolf Steiner and Sydney Hoff
Amazon base price: $16.12
Average review score:

The life of the imagination
My 5-year-old loved this book. The first time through was especially enjoyable as he tried to figure out whether Harry's horse was real or not. This book is perfectly suited to its target audience, who are at that age where the line between the real and the imaginary is sometimes blurred and where pretending is part of any happy day. My son also liked resolving the question of whether Harry's horse was real by reading to the end of the book. Definitely a winner!

The Iliad of Homer
Published in Paperback by Biblo-Moser (1998)
Authors: Alfred John Church and Rudolf Steiner
Amazon base price: $20.00
Average review score:

Gore factor and storyline good enough to attract all readers
This book was right up my alley. I liked the vivid pictures that were put in my mind, that showed much gore. I liked the storyline. I could really get into this book. I'd say it's for all readers, young or old. Us teenagers would like it because we like the kind of pictures it puts into our mind. The story line also gets our attention because we want to know what happens to who, who dies, and who lives. Older people would still like it because they could get into the storyline, and neither generation could put the book down. I think everyone would love it.

Informer 001: The Myth of Pavlik Morozov
Published in Hardcover by Transaction Pub (1997)
Authors: Iurii Druzhnikov, Yuri Druzhnikov, and Rudolf Steiner
Amazon base price: $32.95
Average review score:

An exceptional piece of detective work
How did a malevolent miserable tale-telling brat who often came to school stinking of urine become a model for millions of young Communists across the Soviet Union? In the 1980s Yuri Druzhnikov decided to find out the truth behind Pavlik Morozov -- allegedly killed by relatives in the 1930s for informing the authorities that his father was hoarding grain -- and produced this stunning book. By talking to Morozov's mother, neighbours and some of the police investigators on the case he builds up a very different picture from the public myth. To say too much more would betray his conclusions, but it's safe to say that here is another of those books which no self-respecting historian of Stalinism can afford to ignore.

Jews
Published in Paperback by Branden Publishing Co (1997)
Authors: George E. Berkley, Rudolf Steiner, and Adolph Caso
Amazon base price: $17.95
Average review score:

Important contribution
Berkley discusses Jews - as people - in clear authoritative language and thereby destroys the favorite myth of "The Jew" which has brought so much misery in the past century. He shows the good and the bad and is not afraid of calling a spade a spade. The book can be strongly recommended to Jews and Gentiles because it broadens one's view.

A must for any young soul trying to undestand life...
The first book that made a serious impact in my life. I was young and lost, and to see and feel other persons weaknesses, pains and frustrations, help me overcome my own, in ways that, after almost 40 years, I cannot truly understand nor explain. Today, I suggested this book to my very loving and talented 16 year old daugther. Not because I feel she needs it as I needed it, but because I know that this book will make her understand life in a way that will make her even a better and more sensitive young lady... I love her very much..

Kingdom of Childhood
Published in Textbook Binding by Anthroposophic Press (1974)
Author: Rudolf Steiner
Amazon base price: $8.00
Average review score:

Understanding Waldorf Methodology
This book is very readable which is probably a rarity from Steiner. These were lectures to beginning Waldorf teachers I assume so they are not so heavy and you don't need all the anthroposophy background to get through the lectures.

This is a good book to read or have around if you are sending your kids or considering sending your kids to a Waldorf type school. The teachers at these schools tend to talk about the children in the context of Steiner and for years I did not have a clue what they were talking about. I also did not have a clue why they do the things they do at Waldorf schools. After reading these lectures, I now know where they are coming from, at least up to 12 years of age. This is a must read book for parents of kids in Waldorf school if they really care about the underlying philosphy of the methodology used at the schools.

Start with this one
For those who are interested in Anthroposophy, or wish to seek out knowledge of the higher worlds, this book is a great starting place. Supersensible knowledge can be practical and be used in service to humanity. This book is a classic for good reason, and is recommended to be one of the first of Steiner's works one should read. You may gain a new perspective and a new level of understanding.

A Life for the Spirit: Rudolf Steiner in the Crosscurrents of Our Time (Vista Series)

A Powerful, Accessible Introduction to Steiner's Life & Work
Although I read this book a couple of years ago, it still stands out in my mind as exceptional and outstanding. It is comprehensive in its coverage of Steiner's ideas and work, and for a person approaching the ideas of anthroposophy for the first time, it is the perfect introduction to the man behind it all. I found the book to be much clearer on Steiner than Steiner's own writings. I was nineteen when I read the book so I will recommend that especially young people interested in Steiner get this book. When I finished reading it I was in awe of how much Rudolf Steiner accomplished in his life and the sheer number of fields of knowledge (philosophy, science, medicine, education, art, agriculture, religion) he contributed to. The book is very well written and inspired me to look more deeply into Steiner's philosophy and his work.

London Lines: The Capital by Underground
Published in Paperback by Mainstream Pub Co Ltd (1996)
Authors: Michael Kelly and Rudolf Steiner
Amazon base price: $19.00
Average review score:

Makes me want catch the first flight back to London.
The perfect read for anyone who has great affection for London and its "Tube". The author explores those enigmatic destinations at the ends of the lines - places with names which excite the imaginations of those who confine their use of the Underground to city center stations. As I read on with great pleasure, I could almost sense the acrid smell of the still resident soot from the extinct coal burning trains, and hear the cautionary "Mind the gap!" as the carriage doors hiss open. It made me so homesick - and I'm not even English born.
