FAR OUT - INNOVATIVE - MOST EXCELLENT!
For fourteen years Dan Beckett has been living a lie. Everyone around him has known him as Tom Beckett, his twin brother. Even his wife, Lorraine has believed she had married the elder twin, Tom. She is very much in love with "Tom" and has given him 3 sons and a daughter.

Thad is the oldest at thirteen and then the eight year old twins, Bram and Jori and four year old daughter, Autumn. Gil Beckett, father of Dan and Tom and grandfather to the four children also lives with "Tom" and Lorrie at the Beckett Orchards.

Now "Tom's" greatest fear is realized, his brother has been found [with amnesia] and he needs to bring him home.

I am guessing that the brothers, Dan and Tom are around 36 years old. What a midlife crisis.

Oh, Oh, enter Cedra [who kisses Lorrie's husband in fron of the whole family]she knows Tom as Buzz Turner.

You should love this story -- find out what kept Buzz away from home and family for 14 years and how they finally resolve the identity mix-up [and also what led to it]. Work through the near lose of Autumn and Gil and how the family becomes a stronger unit.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - a little hanky-panky between Buzz and Cedra [grin] but what can you expect? -- Most fascinating story with such a great twist -- will you want to keep this one? definitely worth reading more than once.

brilliant historiography
This book brings alive a period of British history in which pamphlet wars--not unusual in seventeenth- and eighteenth-century London--are used by the author to elucidate how Tories and Whigs work to undermine each other. I recommend this book highly to anyone with an interest in British history, English literature, politics, and culture. The author knows how to write a sentence, but more important, he knows how to write a thrilling book that goes beyond academic interest and would make anyone who is interested in history enjoy it.

It's Not Easy Being Big ... A Big Hit!
In this delightful, colorful book Big Bird and Elmo learn an important lesson about themselves. Big Bird is unhappy because he is too big to do things with his friends, and Elmo is sad because he is too small! In the end both learn a valuable lesson about their respective sizes.

We have a 17 month old, and this has been her favorite book since she was 7 months old. In fact, this book has been to Europe and back because she couldn't part with it.

The author does a wonderful job showing children that regardless of their size, they all have an important contribution to make.

Johnand Therese: Flames of Love
Flames of Loves is really a great book. It will give you such desire to go beyond the contemplative dimensions of the soul and spirit. It will make you realize the sense of "nothingness" in everything. That for us to arrive at everything...desire to possess nothing. It will really make your heart a living flames of love. Such spirit is pure and simple to understand God's wisdom and His Divine Love. Truly an excellent book!

Photographic accompaniment to any book on Italy
160 pp., over 140 color photographs.
Highly detailed and beautifully photographed description of the Italian landscape from Tuscany, Sicily, Umbria, the Aeolian Islands, Verona, Puglia, Basilicata, the rock formations of Sardinia, to tiny remote villages in the Apennines.
The photographer, John Ferro Sims, born in Italy, wrote one of the first now-popular Italian travel books, A Traveller's Guide to Food and Wine in Tuscany.\
I read Frances Mayes', Under the Tuscan Sun, and constantly referred to the photos in this book to orient myself, and actually see what she was writing about when describing different breathtaking areas of Italy.

Please read it too.
Much can be said about the spectacular photography. But to capture the real beauty of the golf clubs, you need to read the text. For all of us who have enjoyed a pint in a dirty bar, this book captures the essence of the gentility of the game.

Letters of Saint Augustine

Both Historical and yet Relevant Today
Even though this book is out of print, if you research, read, and/or study Augustine and his thought, then you do not want to be without this text. John Leinenweber is a first rate translator.

The text includes letters from Augustine to students, the nuns of Hippo, Proba (a widow), Bishop Benenatus, Boniface (count of Africa), the Donatists Schimatics, etc. The letters include rebukes, theology, philosophical issues, concerns about movements or trends in the Christian Church, consultations, etc.

This text, if for no other reason, allows the reader to really pry into the mind of one of the greatest thinkers in the history of theology and philosophy. It allows us to see his concerns, his responses to others in crisis, in dealing with doctrinal issues and the like. The most intriguing thing, I think, about this text is the fact that these letters, even when read today still ring through with strong relevancy! I highly recommend this work!

a gold mine of detail about Therese's life as she lived it
One of the most underappreciated books of the century. A translation of the critical edition of Therese's letters and those written to her from her birth till age seventeen. In "Story of a Soul" Therese writes "I find myself at a period in my life when I can cast a glance backward," but in the letters we accompany her day by day, and read what she wrote at 14 on the day of her visit with the Pope ("the good Pope is so old, one would say he is dead") and at 17 of her disappointment that her father could not attend her veiling ("Papa is not coming tomorrow! Celine, my tears are falling as I write . .. ") The notes are a rich documentation of Therese's environment, of the character of the Lisieux Carmel, and of her life, and reading through them chronologically yields a unique window on Therese's maturing and development over time. If you read the letters, you need no longer depend on the interpretations of others; you will be empowered to interpret Therese yourself. Please don't miss it.

a wealth of authentic Therese: milieu, maturing, and mission
This authoritative translation of the second volume of the critical edition of the letters of St. Therese and those written to her is an unprecedented breakthrough in the field, and a delight for her new and old friends. For the first time in English, one can read Therese's letters from the time of her final vows in September 1890 until her death in 1897. Readers can accompany her through the most hidden years of her Carmelite life, the election of her sister as prioress ("Mother! ah! how sweet it is for your child to give you this name!"), the death of her father ("Papa's death does not seem like a death to me, but like a real life . . ."), her letters to her missionary brothers, Adolphe Roulland and Maurice Belliere ("Ah! Brother, let me tell you: the good God is reserving for your soul very sweet surprises."), her letters to her sisters Marie ("what pleases God in my little soul . . . is that He sees me loving my littleness, my poverty, the blind hope I have in His mercy"), Leonie and Celine ("Yes, it is enough if we humble ourselves and bear with our imperfections; that is real sanctity,"), and her growing sense of mission ("I would like to save souls and forget myself for them; I would like to save them even after my death."

The letters written to Therese deepen the reader's knowledge of her milieu and the persons who surrounded her in the Lisieux Carmel. The notes are a marvel of depth and precision, enabling the reader to see Therese's words in the context of her real life. An index to both volumes of Therese's letters is a great enhancement. I cannot recommend the book highly enough.
